How much will the PS6 cost?

Based on the $699 USD Pro, how much do you think the PS6 will launch for?

$599 digital and not a penny less, and that's assuming only an incremental GPU improvement over the PS5 Pro. It will probably be on a Zen 5-ish platform SoC with basically the same GPU feature set as the PS5 Pro, but with a little more raw power. And it will be 2027 before we see it.

Money is not worth what it used to be worth.

The entire design and price of the PS6 depend on how well the PS5 Pro performs.

Probably the same as the PS5 Pro, as they're testing the waters.

I'd be fine paying these prices for a next gen console / PS6. But not for a mid gen refresh.

Also if they're having to charge higher prices now because of a heightened cost of materials for the latest tech then at least give us a 1TB option at a reduced cost! (and apply fairer currency conversions for territories outside of the US).

At this rate it'll be at least $699 and be digital only

No way it's a dollar less than the obscenely priced PS5 Pro

This is what happens when Sony has zero competition, though. We're back in 2006.

I think what's going to happen is that there is going to a PS6 (call it Series S) with more mainstream pricing but the PS6 Pro will be available at launch. PS6 with roughly PS5 Pro perf (but newer CPU/GPU, 128-bit GDDR7, PCIe5/6 SSD etc, whatever the BOM-optimized console is at the time basically) and the PS6 Pro will be GPU with ~2x perf of that.

I expect:
  • $599 for a base model PS6 (i.e. cheapest)
  • November 2027 or 2028 release date
  • Smaller graphics increase over the PS5 Pro than the PS5 was over the PS4 Pro
  • No disc drive support for the PS6 at all

if Sony continues without any competition ill say A LOT, you know, since MS is doing a "shitier" job every year and Nintendo is making consoles for babies, Sony ll charge whatever they want for their "adult entertainment machine".

I'd say 600. I expect a pro model of something to cost more than the mass market model. So it being 100 less than the ps5 pro makes sense. But inflation so maybe 650

Between $549 and $599 but there is no option for that so I picked the lower option. They subsidise initial new gen consoles, they won't subsidise the Pro so you can't make that comparison to price

$699 or more, that's 4 more years of inflation and more expensive nodes

Unless semis go through a bust, we're in a period of high electronic costs

Depends on when it's released.

In 2027 as per their usual schedule, it'll cost north of $700.

Delay for a year or more, then it'll be $600.

All depending on what Xbox do of course.

Im saying for a long time ... sony will test waters with the Pro ... 499 top end consoles are a thing of the pass.

Nintendo is about to launch the switch 2 with 10 year old-like technology at probably 459-99

Hard to say.

I can't see it being more than £700. It could be less than the PS5 pro.

In the UK the PS3 launched at £425, which was silly money in 2007, but PS4 launched at £349 in 2013.

It's high time we saw 799 consoles as entry point and 80 bucks games. Phones have broken the 1000 barrier virtually a decade ago.

499 and 599. They need to sell it.
You thought they would release a significantly more powerful version of the console at the same price as the base-line model?

And, no, they don't need to sell it. They need to sell PS5s period, so they sell games and subscriptions. The Pro is specifically geared for enthusiasts and is not meant to replace the base PS5.

A PS6 is an entire new gen.
Im ok with a price hike there if we get back to seeing major gains. Its been an evolution lately- im ok with moving on from old pricepoints to allow for improvements. I can also afford to do and say that/ my preference may not align with young kids being able to get one of these too. So at what point does this strictly become an adults hobby when we start reaching 1k for a new console?

Im also not gonna be as inclined for mid gen refreshes if the launch console starts reaching 1k. I'm just not gonna do that.

Anyway, unless the Pro straight bombs in the months after launch, this new price point sets the stage for what is to come.
Now- the $700 point for a midgen refresh and no disc drive (As a physical only gamer) is a sticking point for me. My refusal to support that is larger than my support of Sony.

I was talking about the PS6. They need to sell well. A Pro version, not so much.
