Indiana Jones and the Great Circle |OT| Fortune and Glory, kid. Fortune and Glory.

It's a literal generational difference in lighting at times. It's so impressive.

I mean look at this:

Those white hairs on his hand look weird

Makes me want to smack all those people that said RT is barely noticeable in the recent "diminishing returns" thread
To be fair path tracing is a bit different to most of the RT we get in games so far. And i think people would be way less against it if it wasnt so demanding and performance killing.

Now that raytracing has trickled down to consoles, pathtracing is our new PC luxury. I wish Avowed would get pathtracing but it's likely only getting Hardware Lumen RTGI on PC.

I don't think anyone said it's not noticeable for path tracing. It's just that RT typically can break down also in scenes just like raster and good artists with raster and smart nerds will make it look quite close to RT. And peoples are tired to throw image quality and performances under the bus for that. Indiana Jones is ONE OF THE FEW on consoles that went full RTGI and it's still optimized. Dare I say, even more optimized than Metro Exodus EE.

Path tracing is a whole other beast. It's the future. But that is not even in the discussion for consoles this gen.

bitbydeath said: Lighting/shadow enhancements does very little to the final image.

Just started. Quick things I noticed.
  • Vibration doesn't work with DualSense on PC despite the buttons changing in the UI
  • The draw distance for geometry and lighting is way too short. Seeing shadow quality drastically shift as you move around is really immersion-breaking.
  • There's something weird about the animations or frame rate in cutscenes. It almost seems like they're at a lower frame rate than the game.

They busted VRAMs with those settings. I mean cmon guys, have to use your head, also typical ID tech memory allocation.

Cyberpunk 2077 with Pathtracing is actually playable on my RTX 4070, I am hoping it can handle Indy Jones too. Just another 24 hours till I can play.

24 hours? I thought the game was releasing simultaneously everywhere. Just another hour or so, right?

Path tracing is a total game changer in this and puts it in the conversation of one of the best looking games of the year.

Screenshots really don't do it justice, but here's another comparison:

Tried it and get chunks of it coming down to 35-45 fps on a 4090 in the Vatican plazas.
Big nope for me. And it already look amazing so don't need it.

Pathtracing is insane.

Im getting between 90 and 120 fps ultra pt. Ultra settings. Dlss quality at 1440p. On my main desktop. 14900ks and 4090.

This site is full of shit. They didn't test all those GPUs in just the few hours PT has been available. They pulled the same crap with GOWR where they had supposedly tested 40 GPUs before everyone else. Then when other results from reputable sites came out that were completely at odds with theirs (such as a 7900 XTX outperforming a 4090), they came back the next day with real results.

Yea, didn't particularly know that site history but seems mighty fishy they had so much benches so fast after a patch. So many sites bullshit benchmarks now..

They for real testing, but fast. I know

You missed it, because there is different realms, so they test with different realms.

It's unpacking? It's why I almost never preload. Its faster to download straight to SSD already unpacked than unpacking from a locked preload most of the time.

Yeah....thought it was another download. Just unpacking. Was done pretty quickly though.

The results were literally bullshit. The only place where a 7900 XTX would run faster than a 4090 was in the Realm Between Realms because of the tessellation bug on GeForce cards.

Anyone else have this controller issue?

I have a weird problem when playing with a controller. The camera would sometimes keep moving without me pressing the stick, as if my controller has stick drift. But both my controllers do that and they're brand new. Also sometimes the opposite happens, the camera won't move until I've tilted the stick halfway. Seems like the deadzone keeps changing by itself. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or is it something with my system?

I let my GPU lapse in October. Woot has a deal for new accounts for 3 Months of GPU Ultimate for $28.99. Upon redeeming, they give you an additional month for turning on auto-billing. Seems like a good deal. Time for Christmas with Indy and STALKER.

They tested different location.
if you want 7900XTX vs 4090 in Gow:R, without FG 4090 is faster, with FG both ~same
Again, there isn't one location where the 7900 XTX is faster aside from the Realm Between Realms. Why would they test a non-combat zone where all you do is walk around. The results were without FG and they later scrapped the old ones.

You should be good until Avowed too 🥳
