Assassin's Creed Shadows 💮|OT|💮 Play Stealthy for Me |づ ╸ . •́ )メ

I was super annoyed when I was playing as Yasuke for once and got to a shrine/temple with an eagle viewpoint at the top. And he just goes "Hmm I guess Naoe could climb this shrine" -- like W.T.F. -- you guys really made an Assassin's Creed game where one of the playable characters can't do the Assassin's Creed main iconic thing. I get he's a big lumbering oaf and can't jump and climb or whatever but you could've put a ladder inside the shrine or something so he could still get the eagle checkpoint. So I ended up just leaving without getting it, thanks game.

Well anyways I switch to Naoe at the next opportunity and continued on to Azuchi city so I can do Yasuke's history sidequests, but of course I can't find a Kakurega in the town yet so to switch to him so I'm just randomly wandering around (or I could fast travel further back I guess but that's a pain too).

My point here being: if you're making a game with multiple playable characters, where certain tasks and quests are locked to certain characters, let me change my fucking character absolutely anytime I want. I thought we learned this shit with Donkey Kong 64.

PSSR update coming tomorrow. Along with the ability to sell/dismantle multiple items. I can finally sell off the 100 weapons ive been hoarding for Naoe.

auto follow and mass sell/disband after im over the game ofc... Why that shit wasnt there day 1? They delayed this shit already for 4 months

Unless you are in a red area, you should be able to switch whenever you want on the inventory screen.

He can climb to certain points but it's be pain in the ass because of obvious reasons, he's more of a brute than an agile assassin. Guess the game explains he fights for the cause but can't be one of them.
The main problem for me is the character switch isn't seamless and have to go through a painful loading screens. It'd have been much more better if you can switch like a GTA V style.

The skill tree system is horrible. How many "knowledge points" do you have to get to max everything out? I'm on the last tier and it needs 35. Previous tier was 30. 15 before that. So nearly 100? So that's 100 shrines, temples, kata, meditation, etc. Way too much. There are so many bad ideas in this game.
Yeah am still working on the last Tier and that is so tedious and unnecessary bad game design choice. Luckily, the one I need for my build is on the second tier, so I already put 20 points straight into that.

Constantly sliding when trying to climb up hills and it making you slide aaaaaall the way down is enough to want to make me smash my controller.e.

Was wondering if this was going to get brought up. It's fucking infuriating. As is sliding down hills and getting caught and hung up on foliage causing you to wiggle sticks and mash buttons any which way to untangle yourself. A few times I thought I was going to have to quit out and restart.

Doesn't help that the amount of foliage is a bit extreme. I used to love riding across the countryside in GoT but in Shadows I gotta stick to the road.

As long as you aren't in a red zone you can switch out by going to the inventory screen and just holding square/B

I pretty much main as Yasuke and in the last 30 odd hours, ive had to switch to Naoe maybe twice. It's really not that bad when you realize they do add ledges and ladders for Yasuke.

And you dont need to into a Kakurega to switch to him. you can literally switch to him anytime you want by going into the inventory and pressing square.

Some defenders of it will claim that it's done to be more realistic.

Forgetting that in the game you can also jump from 1,000 feet and still not come close to dying. Let's be real, putting this in the game was fucking stupid. All it did was make traversal intolerable. How many times I had to take a circuitous route to a location because for whatever reason I can't climb up a small fucking hill that isn't even that much of an incline because the game just decided "No you can't clime here, take the long way around."

And yeah, I got caught on the foliage tons of times sliding down, and basically needed the game to "shoot me out" of being stuck. It's so poorly designed.

It makes it very hard to navigate
The shortest and most reliable path is usually the guided one.
I've tried cutting corners a few times, but I always end up slipping or getting stuck somewhere

I don't want to sound like an asshole but the slopes usually are the game's way of telling you you're not supposed to go somewhere.

They're usually around mountainous castles as well because otherwise you could bypass like 75% of the camp. It's just videogame logic.

Not really ubi's fault japan is legit filled with mountains and forests everywhere, I'm sure you'd have people crying about that too if they made the terrain more flat.

No, you're all good and totally on point!

I figured that out pretty early too, but sometimes I'm just stubborn and want to give it a shot anyway. I'm actually trying to get all the viewpoints right now, would be a legit nightmare if you didn't follow the paths

I've tried many times going up slopes and succeeded. Sometimes I'll run diagonally and I'll use the horse to get further. You'll eventually find something to grab and you won't slide all the time. I don't try to use the path all the time if I can find a short cut I'll do it

Well, in the three previous games you could climb and traverse everything. In Shadows, they want to limit traversal over "empty" terrain so they use rocky slopes and vegetation to do so.

I don't mind it too much, but they are trying something new with this game when it comes to world design.

Taking a shortcut over a hill results in running through so much bushes that you cant see shit. Its the devs way of saying; "Don't go here". It wasnt like this in the others to this extent.

Crying? Nah....just observations that you pretty much got to stick to the road which stifles exploration in this open world game. And it isn't like this is an exact copy of this section of Japan.

Just finished the game. My thoughts:

+ Beautiful open world (maybe a bit too big but far better sized than both Odyssey and Valhalla)
+ Both main characters play very differently, fun to switch between the two (a big complaint from Syndicate)
+ Stealth is fun, the most fun it's been for a long time in this franchise

- Story is pure trash, I would even go as far as saying the worst of any Ass Creed game
- Combat is not good, all encounters and boss fights are the same (also why not proper combat whilst riding a horse)
- Nowhere near as grindy as the other RPG Ass Creed games but a fair amount of side content still required to play through the main story
- Side content is pretty repetitive, heck, even most of the main quests are

I think overall it's the best RPG Assassin's Creed game regardless though because it actually feels like an Assassin's Creed game unlike Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla (mainly down to guaranteed assassinations and so on).

Would give it like a 7/10. So much potential and fixes a lot of where Valhalla went wrong but at the same time tons of stuff which should have been fixed and modernised have been neglected.

Still a fun game to just mindlessly play and explore though.

Really wish we could run over the ronins walking the roads with our horse. That would be cool.

There's a "change stance" option when riding and I thought that was for assassinating from horseback but so far I haven't been able to do it, or figured out what that option even does.

Yeah not sure what that is either

Still no torch or a way to skip day/night tho :(
ac valhalla was better in this regard
that item wheel was so useful
being able to toggle your headgear on the fly (without having to enter inventory menu)
being able to use a torch all the time

Havent played Valhalla but Odyssey had a torch available to you at all times as well

And you could climb every mountain easily

this is what it looked like

It's so weird how Ubi has already solved these problems with radial menus in previous games and just straight up forget all about it and reintroduces old problems.

Why not have a similar radial menu by pressing left on the d-pad or something?

I just don't understand how these things happens.

With Ubisoft is always the same story, one step forward and two steps back. They give you something in one game and they take it away from you in the next one. What usually happens is that people will complain and they sometimes listen to feedback and add whatever the community is asking.

This time I hope they listen to the community and add all these missing features from Valhalla

Not saying anyone here is crying, I'm saying it would've been just another easy thing to complain about if the terrain didn't represent japan properly.

or figured out what that option even does.
It's for jumping off, sometimes you can jump off and use your grappling hook for a little shortcut.

and not headgear or weapons during cutscenes, everything just dissapears, it looks so bad
This has to be on purpose, because some cutscenes, like the ones for the tournament, keep all your gear on just fine, so it's not something that isn't possible. 🤔

New update is live

It's Ubisoft, so of course they had to half-bake it

They added a 'auto-follow' feature but surprise, surprise, your horse can only move at half or regular speed. No gallop, no urgency, just a slow stroll through mediocrity

What are they even doing over there? Seriously

lol someone on Reddit called me mindless idiot because I said this is a pretty good game and looks great.
Meanwhile he is a part of mindless hating group. Oh the irony

If someone insult you dont give them anymore of your time. Report them and move on. We can disagree on something but calling names over that just goes to show this person has problems

This game is beautiful but the story is beyond awful.Worst English voice acting since Resident Evil 1(not really but close).

Just make the storytelling linear

Def do not play in english, and put guaranteed assassination on in the options
