So Idk if it's caused by the previous hotfix and they didn't fix it in the new update, but 1.2 is way less stable for me, way more stutters and random freezes for a few second which wasn't even a thing before, shader compilation doesn't seem to be working right as well or maybe it's somehow related to the streaming system.

Did it not recompile shaders when you started the game? It did for me.

I'm having more fun than Valhalla, maybe it's the setting, maybe its the fact that I went into this with low expectations.

I like and hate the story, I went all over the map and I'm at a point that I don't really know what the fuck I'm doing. I really liked the Yasuke personal quest with the memories, it really shows that some scenes or quests had an extra touch or care added to them, all in all, a 30% cut of everything would have made this a great game.

It did, that's why it's strange that I get stutters during some moments - going underwater for the first time since the game was updated etc.

Damn.....I took some screenshots at lunch before going back to work, but didn't have time to really roam around or do anything. I'll let you know how mine plays tonight.

I love the absurd reasons NPCs will give you to go clear out an enemy camp. I just slaughtered like 10 people in cold blood because an old dude wanted his lamps back so he could decorate his interior. I'm fine doing it because the core gameplay is fun but they're reallly reaching with some of these fetch quests lol

Yeah that quest was hilarious. Casually killing like 15 people because this dude wants three lanterns in his shanty hut.

Of course they add the mass dismantling of gear after I've thoroughly beaten the game. :pie_roffles: Individual dismantling was so annoying (and offered so little) that I just dumped everything in my stash after a while because it was quicker.

Def do not play in english, and put guaranteed assassination on in the options
And turn on the automatic QTE option, IMO. Unless people actually enjoy doing the same tiresome QTEs for Katas and Kuji-Kiri. For me, that novelty wore out quick.

I do like them. they get a bit more complex and faster as you do more of them
dunno I just like them, it is calm and fun to me?

Forgot to mention that I unlocked lvl 3 skill tree and some of the stuff there are just cheats which I don't like and will never unlock, or some basic thing like now you can do 3 charged attacks in a row, which is fine... if while doing that the animations were smooth and all different with a mix of acrobatics and stuff, but nope, it's just the same move repeated 2-3 times with teleportations, which is... a bit disappointing. Also, how realistic is it for the time period to stop time as a shinobi to slip through unnoticed and kill the target? No fuckin' way I'll be unlocking that. Oh and you... can now hide headgear with RT.

not very realistic, but the assassins aren't very realistic in the first place because they are superhuman, eagle vision isn't just some gameplay mechanic, they actually have a sort of hyper focused sense because of their ISU DNA; with a high enough concentration of ISU DNA and a piece of eden they can do many more crazy things like kassandra.

I'm taking a break from this game. 37 hours and I think I'm done for now. The gameplay is okay but I've seen all the game has to offer 20 hours ago and all I'm doing at this point is sightseeing and even that gets boring after an hour or two a day.

The story is a bloated, unfocussed mess. The combat is not good enough to seek out action. Infiltrating castles is cool but honestly the only somewhat challenging thing the game has to offer.

There's just nowhere near enough interesting gameplay going on for this game to be 80+ hours.

I think people have some unreasonable expectations about the story in an Assassin Creed game, also about the historical accuracy.

It was always a fiction and inspired by historical events with the Isu and all the mythological gods and whatnot, they even say so when the games starting screens. And as such it's clear that the story makes little sense when you combine all these elements and it's good it has crazy stuff.

Played for like an hour with the new patch and PSSR is great.
Makes 40fps mode completely viable now. no shimmering, dithering and pixel crawling. It is completely STABLE.
It might seem blurry in screenshots but it serves purpose to look clean and stable in motion, which I think it does.
I prefer a bit blurry compared to dithered for sure. Looks coherent.
Also.. Not played this in a week. Almost forgot how striking it looks. The weather too.

OK I am officially done with the game at 20 hours.

Bad story, non linear, too much to doo honestly no energy for that right now. Also 30fps cutscenes is awful. It kills this game.

I will wait for all the expansions to be out and then play it again in a year or so

Anyone got an ideas how to make one of the guards ring the bell to summon the elite enemy?

I'm just running round like I'm in the Benny Hill show - nobody will climb the ladder and ring the bell.

This reads like my exact post when I asked the same exact thing. Benny Hill reference and all. You poser.

They get introduced through progress. Just keep playing.

30h in.. now in 40fps mode with pssr. Game is beautiful but it's too much busy work. I've not felt this way putting 50 hours into hogwarts legacy.

It's a good game but It's go here, go there.... oh right.. it's across the whole map where you've not been yet and it's level 26 but you are 24... so it's expected to do some side quests.
You know the drill. then go back to hideout, upgrade at blacksmith and go back.

problem is that game tries to get you to visit every location and city they designed. obviously at some point it gets tiring. rdr 2 is quite opposite. the world is just there. you just happen to visit here and there
if you get bored, try to focus on main quests for a while

Just installed this mod. Works beautifully. No more annoying white line when in stealth (among other things)!.

Edit: For the most part, it works. However, the brief "ghost" effect if enemies spot you, still seems to show. But it's a start. Hopefully Ubisoft can properly add option to toggle it all as part of HUD

So like after 40 some hours I can safely say that Yasuke was just not needed even tho I like how he feels to fight, but I absolutely can't stand using him to run anywhere... The verticality of Naoe, the speed, the stealth, the enemy sight.... Is true ac and I never select yasuke.

He was fun early to walk into a spot and just go off but now that I'm flying with Naoe it's just apparent she was the only protag needed imo

Can we talk about these for a moment?

What a fuckin' convoluted mess where you can't see shit even after lighting up candles and it's an ambsolute nightmare to navigate, remember where you been, which route you took the last time you were there... I fuckin' hate these pieces of shit man.

Pyramids, Pharaoh's tombs and burials were a lot more fun to navigate and explore in Origins, but here it's just... UGH! It's just mind-boggling how bad kofun's are in Shadows. What the hell happened? Are they even accurate to the real world kofun's in Japan?

Agreed about the visibility. Only advice I can offer is to light the torches from the areas you come from. It'll help you navigate a bit better..

I did that and candles too, but there's other problem too - everythig looks the same, coridors are too tiny and you still can't see shit and there's multiple levels of all this with shortcuts, slopes... I don't like it one bit.

I've not even met Yasuke and I'm 25 hours in.

I'm a hot ninja assassin, baby and it will stay that way for as long as possible.

The weird part is the devs knew full well how dark they were because they put candles everywhere for you to light but they still didn't add a torch.

Figured out that upgrading your gear every 3 levels is a very wise thing to do. Playing on the highest difficulty and with up-to-date gear (and adding engravings), I do so much damage even as Naoe.

The throw kunai at second enemy on assassination has way more range now, it goes very far.
Good to know, I'm only using a tanto for double assassination, but rather use my much better kusarigama. Makes it a whole lot easier if I get spotted and enter combat.

You don'thave to remember where you've been because the reason there is candles everywhere is not to light up the room but to mark your already visited branching paths lol, I thought that was kinda obvious. There is one horribly bad one in particular that consists of identical, deliberately confusing rooms that comehow missed the cutting floor but overall they're ok as a pace breaker being one of the few combat free activities available

I know what they meant by placing candles and and torches you can ignite, but confusing and extremely maze-like and tight design is not great to say the last, almost everything looks the same. I've explored only 3 kofuns for now and maybe they'll get better, but somehow I doubt it.

I think they should've gone for 3D map (Dead Space and SW Jedi games) here to help with navigation if they're so hard on not including the torch and not letting you use it to see things way more clearly.

Yea She's just a really solid feeling AC character. Basically with yasuke you can't even use to run anywhere he's so slow and climbing with him is really bad, he's fun to fight with but Naoe has a few moves that are so good plus all her other benefits make it that she's really the only one I enjoy playing full time.

Yeah, put me on the team that isn't a fan of the Kofuns. The first couple were fine of course, but then you realize that they all look exactly the same and the mazes quickly get frustratingly bad. Even Origins had more variety with their caves and tombs.

I think I'm already at the "chip away over time" point. I'm already noticing myself playing for a short while before jumping to something else entirely. Also there's no way I'm going to finish it by the time Indy releases next week. And then Days Gone is out the next week. So I'm fucked lol Shadows will be on the backburner for awhile :messenger_grimmacing_ 🔥

Hogwarts did a really good job of making its content/activities bite-sized enough that you don't feel overencumbered by long bouts of travel or too much repetition and you get sucked in to doing just one more thing. Yakuza Like a Pirate is similar. Traversal mechanics in both were also fun and areas were not huge.

Travel in all the modern AC games, even on horseback, is more laborious for the player.

yeah, in hogwarts you can get to your next objective very fast but I choose to find all the pages in the castle because it was great.
And when You fly to your next objective outisde the castle and see a side objective. You can stop and do it or not. There is 0 pressure that you will be underleveled

Thank goodness for the horse auto follow though.
I can just let it do the travelling while i do something else for a moment. Made some of the last few missions tolerable.

So I managed to play this more than 100 hours, unlocked everything and completed the story.

The story really sucks for an assassin's creed game, because the game ends abrupt and the templer part is too short and is more a sidemission. Whoever came up with this crap has no business around this franchise.

The missions don't flow in this game either, they are spread all over the map. For example, you start a questline and can't finish it till later into the game, at that point you have forgotten what it was about. They should have limited the questlines into the specific regions, where it started, instead traveling from one point of the map to the world's end.

The combat was fun at the beginning, but after all this time it becomes boring and repetitive. The animations don't even connect most of the time.

The only good thing is the weather system, like mentioned before, but that doesn't cut it for game like this.

5/10 imo

Yea I think it's Def a game that starts off better than it finishes. I mean I like it but I'm ready to move onto my next game I'm almost done with the platinum but yea I agree the combat is super repetitive, there's hardly any animations just a few.

The map and weather system are top tier tho
