Congratulations on what China did.

I hope they punish the Neanderthal with red hat and the Orange for the dumb things they do to their people and the world.

He didn't think these tariffs through.

These backtracks is exactly why he will be looked at as joke by the rest of the world.

Trump, and the rest of his party, isn't thinking about gaming at all.

The GPU's being exempt will help businesses, AI, Servers, Super Computers etc. They're not being removed from tariffs so people can buy a 5090 to play GTA VI.

The HTS code for Video Game Consoles is not in the list of exemptions.

They removed it because Lord Gaben personally entered Trump's cabinet and showed him Half Life 3 demo.

All said and done tho, i wouldn't rejoice just yet. China may try to limit export of these products in an attempt to get him to remove more tariffs ...either that or the CCP will just use this to spin up some narrative inside the country since they're mostly worried about their image.

He wanted to demonstrate the strength of the US in the world and in global trade in general... What he's achieving is demonstrating the growing weakness of the US in global trade.

Well really It's a global embarrassment that increasingly looks like a masterstroke for a few to profit.

You can tell someone is really shitting his diapers about the treasury bond situation.

Still happy for burger citizens who won't be paying the bill of the trade war.

Yeah, hopefully we can get another 3-5% market gain. As soon as that's done I am converting the rest of my stock to money market funds and treasuries.

My heart can't take Orange Man's shenanigans.
Could be a good choice. My financial guy just said ride it out so if those stocks effected go up 15% monday I should be getting back to normal.

We all should have noted Warren Buffets choice of selling everything

Yep, Buffet as usual knows his shit. I got about half my market position out but figured bond / stock split made sense. The Donald defeated that approach, lol.

I don't think we are likely to see more than 5% bump if that and it may drop during the rest of the week. Administration has no idea what they are doing at all.

As if computer part prices especially GPU aren't already overpriced enough now that piece of shit is going to raise it even more. Good thing I'm not too crazy into crazy these days and fine with sticking to older games, could still have tons of fun with modded Bethesda Fallout and Elder Scrolls for years easily. Now I just hope my pc doesn't fail/break.

Did you not even read the title of this thread before clicking it? GPU's should come down, probably won't but still.

We shall see, I think this is finally an admission that they can't have large tariffs on certain items.

If it's too good to be true than it's probably not. Until I actually click on Amazon and see GPU prices back to normal which is still overpriced than it ain't happening.

And I checked Amazon and the RTX 4060 TI 16gb is still 600 to 700 dollars when a year ago it was around 430 dollars and 430 dollars for a RTX 4060 ti 16gb still ain't a good deal in the first place anyway since that card is nearly 2 years old and is on the lower end.

It certainly is eye-opening. Is the managed decline of the west inevitable if investors can force the hand of any leader attempting to course correct it?

We saw something similar here with Liz Truss.

The HTS code for video game consoles/machines is 9504.50, which I don't see included in the exempted list. Still possible that the Switch 2 could be reclassified to take advantage of the exemption, or that the list of exempted codes will be expanded later, but I'd say it's unclear at the moment.

Where did he hurt you?
My wallet, strength of US currency, position of US in a global market, status of US currency as default payment, US investment, trust amongst allies, and more.

Anything to do with economy, taxes and trade has been a ginormous shit show.

Yeah, cheer on the CCP, they've never done anything wrong! Ever!

The way people's dislike for Trump and the threat of their toys becoming more expensive is being used as justification to stan for a totalitarian regime is just... wow.

yeah, the CCP is constantly making military threats against the land of Heimdall_Xtreme Heimdall_Xtreme 's main waifu. Guess his love isn't that deep.

I wouldn't be surprised if China vetoes this with U.S.-specific export taxes. The move could be seen as an attempt by the U.S. to make their side of the trade war less painful than China's.
