Forza Horizon Review Thread

I see that Polygon continue to have their collective head up their collective arse.

I don't review reviewers until I've played the game they praised or criticized. So I can't judge this review until I play the final, but their Borderlands 2 review is total dogshit. Not just the score. The review. Much like Jim Sterling, they seem to make it easy to just not bother with their reviews. The shitty layout of their site also helps to make not going there easier. Conversely the Audrey chick at IGN that many ripped for tearing Darksiders 2 apart gets my respect. I played it and came away disliking the game very much.

Just pre-ordered the LE just based on a short go on the demo. This looks like the Forza game for me.

Just wondering though, what are the chances of this game getting a Porsche DLC pack sometime in the future? Last time, I think there was some deal btw EA / Shift and MS / Forza. However fhis may not be an option this time around with Most Wanted as I've heard Ferrari is not so keen on seeing their cars in that series for some reason. So, I imagine EA might want to hold on to the Porsche license for now.

Some night pictures ;)

Jesus H3rtz, you're not making this wait any easier, ya know that?

Feel free to keep them coming, please.

Holy Goodness, your screens are so beautiful. The wait is getting more and more difficult- how are the Photo mode tools? Are they easy to use?

I'm really excited about doing nothing but serenely free roaming and taking pictures. It shall be grand!

i think its the same as forza

Driving Lambos and old muscle cars for hours will be one of my main thing to do. Plus dirt tracks.

The embargo shouldn't have lifted so early... can't wait for two weeks with all this media everywhere.

Seeing people on my friendslist playing the full game really hurts.

The Photomode is pretty much the same as it was in FM4 but I think it is a lot easier to find a good photo settings than it was in FM4, mostly because of great lighting.

I like how it's getting great reviews, but the giant bomb quick look kind of deflated some of my hype.

It looks more like dudebro Dirt and less like Test Drive Unlimited. The in game map didn't even look as big and dense as the first TDU.

I don't think it helped Jeff was incapable of driving without smashing into everything. Drive with style and you'll be fine.

Bit of a shame that replay's use rather bad side of car camera pans, it might have taken a lot of time to set up road side angles but there must have been a better way then these terrible pans.

Do you guys reckon the Limited Edition is worth it? I'm about to preorder the game. I don't really preorder nowadays, but the Forza 4 LE was kinda hard to get, and I guess this will be the same.

Just a small waring guys, when you get the game, do whatever you have to do first, cause once you start the game you won't stop anytime soon. I got stuck in Colorado for another 10 hours yesterday, slept 3 hours and I was back in again, extremely addictive game :D

We also now have the option of travelling further than 2 foot away from the car.

H3rts, any chance you could take some wide scenic shots aswell?

Exactly my worry, which is why all I've slated for holiday gaming is Horizon and Halo 4. None of my friends understand it, but you give me an open racer like this and I will absolutely lose myself in it. Just the demo alone has put me out of synch with our Borderlands group big time ;P

TDU was pretty good for this, but I've spent so damn long driving around in GTA4, Hot Pursuit and even Just Cause 2 of all games. If its an open world game with vehicles I've played it, and free roamed it for longer than most people have played the base game. Even if Forza 4 you'll find me 'test driving' on the Nordschleiffe or Fujimi Kaido, and on the 'build your own track' courses in GT5. An open world with Forza or GT5 like physics, truly beautiful surroundings and cockpit view has been a gaming dream.

are the section of dirt roads in the demo pretty indicative of what the majority of dirt roads are like? ie, are they all fairly high speed and wide, or can we expect some really windy and tight bits too?
And hey, any interesting, uh, hill climbs in the game? *cough*

The more I look into this game the more I think it's not worth it, but i'm a sucker for steelbooks

This!! Anything similar to Kaido for our late night Tofu runs? Also any other hill climbs for us to take those Group B Monsters on?

I know there is a perfect place for stuff like that, I was there when I was discovering all the roads but can't remember where was it and I can't find it now lol Once I find it I'll post some pictures of it ;)

What I wouldn't give to see Bizarre create PGR5 for the next system.... :(

Unfortunately for you, the expansion of the Forza brand beyond being "just" a driving sim type game means PGR is gone for good. If it's a 360 exclusive, and it involves driving cars, it'll be called Forza. Or at least until Forza is over (at which point MS would probably just make a new racing IP).

Congrats to PlayGround Games for such wonderful review scores.

Replayed the demo a few times now (no doubt like everyone else) and the game has grown on me. Wasn't overly interested in the gameplay the first time around but I've become smitten by the gameplay. Still dislike the dudebro and dubstep aspects but can overlook if custom soundtracks can be used.

I literally just busted out PGR3 and PGR4 as well, I miss Bizarre Creations so much!
+1,000,000 PGR 4 is my favouite racer on the 360.

Would be brilliant if Lucid Games were working on something for the next MS console.

People should use this time to load up Blur and re-appreciate just how good that game was.
Funnily enough I did this last night just after playing the FH demo - it's still an awesome game. Now looking to buy it for the PC at a decent price.

You know what's odd? As hyped as I am for this game, I find the demo super boring. I hate only having one car for free roam (and such a boring one at that) and I just find the car choices sort of meh too. I seriously cannot wait for the game, but I have very little desire to play the demo.

I know what you mean but in terms of getting me excited for the full game, it did its job. All I need is my Subaru and I'll be happy as a pig in mud.

Whats really messed up is that you get that Mustang for winning that event but still can't free roam it. Same with the Viper.
