2022 is looking like one of the most eventful years for Playstation in a while

Imagine if someone said Halo Infinite and all Xbox exclusive games look better than 99% of all games.

It's 99% of all games, which is basically the top 150-200.

Don't know why this would be an issue.

I also think there shouldn't be a problem even if its games that are released within the past 10 years, including the upcoming titles we have seen thus far.

Most interesting year for a while because they actually have 2 new, high profile first party games. So most interesting since 2020. All that other shit is not at all interesting.

For 2022 they have 3 announced ones, and they are delayed from 2021 where they also released Returnal or Ratchet. Pretty likely they'll have more unannounced stuff for 2022, like pretty likely their TLOU stuff or PSVR2 games.

Ready to bump this topic when TLOU2 Director's cut is announced. They are clearly working in multiple projects as Jason had mentioned before. Uncharted Collection in January, Director's Cut later, Factions and the Remake. Hopefully this gen sees Naughty Dog releasing a new IP. The last time they did that was in 2013... it's been too long.
I think they'll release this year U4 remastered, TLOU2DC+TLOU1R, TLOUMP, the Uncharted movie and the TLOU tv show and as they complete this they'll be able focus mostly on a new IP to be released at the end of the generation, while also having a smaller team working on a short Uncharted spin-off (the one that according to Jason they were supposed making with Bend) teaming up with some other studio as could be Bluepoint.

The spin-off would be released way before the new IP, and Bluepoint would also work on a PS5 & PC Nathan Drake collection remaster updating part of the visuals and gameplay for the new engine.

I don't even think it would be weird to release all that in 2022.
January - Uncharted collection. It's already confirmed and it's already completed at this point.
February - Uncharted movie.
Something like June - TLOU2 Director's Cut. At this point it's been 2 years since the original. Doing this isn't that big of a task. Sucker Punch did theirs with a smaller team, while working, releasing and maintaining an online mode for Ghost of Tsushima and working on a DLC story content. It's not weird to imagine Sony's top studio doing it.
September / October - TLOU remake - around the time the TV show starts (it's a remake and it's been in full production since 2019. By then it'll be 3 full years. In no way that's unreasonable)
Factions - Neil's post yesterday was clear. They are working in multiple projects. I think it's the already confirmed remake and Factions. This will be the last one to be released. Probably during the TV show as well. Worst case scenario? Early 2023.

If you actually believe there's nothing interesting to look forward to in 2022 you should probably change hobby. It happens you lose interest in something over the years.

Just like you can't have a thread about GT7 without the same people coming in comparing it to Forza.
Seriously wasn't the console war sticky supposed to bring higher quality discussions?

It won’t end until the mods consider segregating the board, which would be quite extreme with adults involved lol, but when 25% of the comments in a platform-specific thread is thread-derailing, console warring garbage, another 25% is left combating it; That’s half a thread that results in total dysfunction.

That’s also a total fucking mess to read.

What can you do if you have to consider banning half the site’s members, but you still need the clicks to thrive, as well lol? You can’t win here…

Back to the discussion:

As a platform holder since launch, I want next-gen games as much as the next, next-gen owner (lol) and that’s my prerogative, but the reality is releasing these games on last-gen consoles will ensure their “all-around” success.

There’s people who laughed at Sony for not allowing GOW:R, HFW & GT7 to be next-gen only games, but if they did, they’d laugh at them for the lack of the sales they’d ultimately achieve, as well, for missing out on the rest of the user base.

The moral of the story is you simply can’t win with trolls on any side, just do what’s best for the brand.

As for a TLOU, Pt. II Director’s Cut… I can envision the standalone multiplayer game releasing (I just don’t see Sony not releasing any 1st party next-gen games) THIS holiday to compete with BOTW2 & Starfield.

Then 2023, launching a Director’s Cut expanded with TLOU Remake and TLOU2 (Remastered) once HBO’s series is ready.

I rarely give my subjective opinion in an opposing strongly opinionated forum like these. I mainly focus on actual graphics tech that can't be argued - and yet - even then there are arguments.

Fable - Official Announce Trailer
Wow! Best looking graphics I've seen to date besides Hellblade 2.

Marvel’s Avengers – beta details, playable Hawkeye, and Fortnite collaboration announced
Definitely the best looking superhero game coming this generation. I love it.

Digital Foundry - Cyberpunk 2077 PC Version First Impressions
DF is right. It is the best looking videogame to grace the computer industry. The rendering tech is just as impressive as FS2020 and the ray-tracing tech sets a new bar. I knew CDPR would NOT disappoint with the graphics despite me being a little worried from earlier footage. They really really did NOT show the best this game has to offer. Everything is rendered in an incredible fidelity! The PBR specular shading is top-notch and their use of RT lighting is incredible! They have taken the generation to the next level!

Microsoft Flight Simulator - Review Thread
If it's not the best looking game, then what is? What game out there has perfection as far as graphics are concerned? I could pick apart any game you mention.

Digital Foundry - Cyberpunk 2077: PS4 vs PS4 Pro Frame-Rate Tests - Can Consoles Run Cyberpunk?
I've shown plenty of 4k/Ultra videos on the PC showcasing why this game is #1 in best looking videogame. This is aside from all the other video reviews like DF stating it too. It is what it is man. No need to hate on it because you can't play it in it's full glory.

Star Wars: Fallen Order |OT| I have a gooood feeling about this
Best looking game this generation. I suspected it as much using a lot of ILM's assets and help. This is the spiritual successor to SW:1313.

Days Gone: DF PC Tech Review + Graphics/Performance Thread
Goddamn this game looks da shit! Best looking Unreal engine game by far!!

I gotta admit these PS exclusives have production values through the freaking roof!! I can't wait to play other games they have in store. Keep em coming Sony!!

Just a quick search, btw.

Seems like you have a problem with PS guys calling PS exclusives one of the best looking video games out.

How about you tell other people to stop giving me a hard time because I don't praise their hardware of choice? I stopped posting for the entire year and come back here and give an opinion on people declaring subjective comments to be fact and here we are yet again with multiple pages of fluff trying to make me look bad. Why don't they just give it a rest? I'll be here for awhile so we all might as well get along.

You come in just to post your throw away comments and then proceed to whine about Sony gamers like usual.

You do it to yourself.

Dude...you literally came to a topic about all things Playstation for the new year to complain about the "Sony crowd" and now you post this?
Sometimes it's okay to just scroll and keep going you know?

You don't see me posting on Xbox-centered topics...wanna know why? Because i don't care. What kind of reception did you truly expect?

You guys invite toxicity into a topic where the OP doesn't mention Xbox or Nintendo not even once and then complain people are being mean to you...you can't make this shit up.

I believe both Sony and Microsoft will be trading blows with visuals this generation. We will have amazing looking games that will make our jaws drop from both.

I really like Nintendo as well but for me it's the art style that I really like. Still it's impressive what they manage to get out of something like the Switch.

Im really looking forward to GOWR and HFW. They both look like excellent games to me. And I'm really curious to see what the new PSVR2 headset is going to be like. The new controllers already have my attention.

Also I still have to play that Pixar like game. Big fan of the franchise so it's definitely on my list.

I’m excited for PSVR2…game wise just GOW tho. I doubt TLOU factions is this year or the remaster. Directors cut deff but I’m not buying those out of moral obligation. Give me 4K 60 for free

Factions - Neil's post yesterday was clear. They are working in multiple projects. I think it's the already confirmed remake and Factions. This will be the last one to be released. Probably during the TV show as well. Worst case scenario? Early 2023.
I think the TLOU2 PS5 version, the TLOU PS5 remake and the TLOU MP game can be released at the same time and promoted together, bundled all 3 as a Director's Cut for PS & PC (the remake being PS5 only). And I bet will be released the month before of the TLOU tv show premieres.

Sony said there were more Director's Cut coming after GoT and DS. So I think it's a huge candidate. Jason's rumor said that the pitch of the TLOU remake was to bundle it with the PS5 version of TLOU2, which sounds as a Director's Cut.

Uncharted Collection and movie were outsourced, as the TLOU tv show. So only some overview was required, plus in the tv show Druckmann helping with writing and directing some chapter. The TLOU remake started as a project of another studio (the new small San Diego team, made with people from a Sony animation support team) where ND only provided the source material and overviewed it, until Hermen Hulst became head of PlayStation Studios asked ND to take the lead in the project instead to complete it because it didn't look good or at least he thought they were spending too much. There's the TLOU2 PS5 version, which looking at the other Sony games pretty likely will be the PS4 version implementing the PS5 features and adding some resolution or fps boost.

So the only project that needed a lot of ND people is their TLOU MP game, that they started to develop before the TLOU2 release and had people like Bend helping with it. There was supposed to be also an Uncharted spinoff in the works also codeveloped by Bend, but Bend left it when they got the greenlight for their next new IP so maybe the spinoff got cancelled.

TLDR: ND has a lot of projects coming but most of them were mostly outsourced and required little work from them or already spent several years on them. I think a late release for a TLOU DC bundling TLOU1 remake (in PS4 they could include the remaster instead) + TLOU2 PS5 version + crossgen TLOU MP during late 2022 or early 2023 -whenever is the TLOU tv show premiere- is super likely. In fact it's possible they may have almost everything done but are waiting for the best timing for the announcement (maybe E3, once they already completed their promotion of their H1 2022 exclusives) and the release (a month before the tv show).

I have 0 experience with discord.

Why are people so happy for it?

What exactly will change for me?
Many people already uses Discord for text, audio or video chats with multiple friends using a PC or mobile with people who are playing the same or different games, even when playing in different platforms.

To have it directly implemented on the console would make it way easier and faster, since you wouldn't need to have your smartphone/tablet/PC to chat with friends who are playing in different platforms. Or maybe that aren't playing but are on their phone or PC.

Many game companies, streamers, youtubers or gaming websites also use Discord to have let's say a modern version of the official forums, a community where they interact with their fans that you could meet there via chats, audio chats, video chats, you could share gameplay screenshots or videos, sending invites for multiplayer matches, etc.

Do we think ND will announce a new IP this year? Personally, I have no interest in TLOU remake, if the rumours are true.

Naughty Dog is supposedly developing a new IP but i honestly don't think it's even in full production right now. Probably still in pre-production. It just can't be considering what they are working on at the moment.
But yeah this gen will finally see Naughty Dog doing something new which is exciting tbh.

They are better off delaying VR2 to 2023 so they can continue to expand the PS5 market before they launch VR2. The extra they can polish the VR games and have a better lineup as well as maybe launch at a better price.

It's not a lie. It's all subjective. Sony gamers think their games will always look the best even if they have average tech like in most games. It's just ridiculous to argue titles tied only to one company or the other are always better than everything else. That's one of the reasons why there has been so many bans this year. Strongly opinionated people that can't see anything else being as good or better and consistently trying to make that point.

Well....it is a bit pointless to argue opinions regardless, isn't it? But the larger issue isn't really that someone thinks their favorite game company "always look the best". There is nothing wrong with thinking that. Like you said, just an opinion. I think the bans start coming in when folks start tearing down games simply because it is made by the company they like the least.

That is something we should all strive to avoid, I think.

Nah, Sony has plenty of competition.

At this point I think Last of Us 2 Remastered will be bundled as a special edition with Last of Us 1 Remake. Similar to Spiderman Remastered being budled with the Ultimate Edition version of Miles Morales. Factions will probably happen at a completely different date and be F2P.

If I had to guess Last of Us Remake + 2 Remastered releasing around the finale period of the TV show in early 2023. Factions happening around August 2022, a month or 2 before the TV show starts.

Why is Detroit and Death Stranding on there? Death stranding literally uses a proprietary sony engine. Both games are funded by sony and used a number of their internal support studios for development. Mark Cerny himself oversaw development of both games

Cyberpunk looks stunning on PC. I got one am glad they didnt limit their vision by downgrading the entire game just to fit last gen consoles. If it had been a pc and next Gen exclusive, it would’ve been received much better.

So if I think God of War looks better than any of the pictures you posted then what is there to talk about? Might as well try to tell me I'm wrong for thinking blue is the best color. What is your favorite movie? If it doesn't equal mine then you are wrong? Like I said, pointless. If we disagree then we disagree. That's it. What would be the point in me posting pictures that are supposed to somehow prove the pictures you posted wrong? There is exchanging opinions and then there is futility. Need to understand the difference.

I think you'll find even the PS fanboys were disappointed with the Ragnarok reveal. I thought it looked great, does it look amazing post Hellblade 2 and the Matrix demo of course not, but it still looks at least as good as anything else out or releasing soon apart from Stalker 2 (which is using UE5).
