343i is dead, renamed Halo studios.

Feels like it's going the Bioware route

And Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is far more graphically advanced than Gears 5 but that's not made in unreal engine? so what is your point? The Engine is not the art, the engine is not the be all and end all in terms of visuals, but it is for performance.

What does Rift apart got to do with anything?

You were lamenting the move to UE, i was just pointing out UE is already used by Microsoft studios and to better effect than old Halo engine did with Infinite

I was responding to this post, you made no mention of art style.

This is lazy as fuck, platform owners should be using custom engines built to take advantage of the platform, in this case something that leverages all the benefits of a closed platform on the Xbox, not using an off the shelf engine that can barely perform on there consoles.

Quite literally the opposite.

In any case, this is good to see if for nothing else than as an admission from Microsoft that 343i's tenure simply cannot continue. A new name on the box is symbolic at best, agreed, but it's symbolism necessary to start repairing the damage done. "343 Industries" is a toxic name with literally nothing but a decade of monumental failures attached to it.

Of course, we got similar marketing fluff when 343i took over, but hey - I want nothing more than one more good Halo game, so I'm happy to try and be optimistic until "Halo Studios" gives us a reason not to be.
The problem with 343 is that it was created to be Halo Studios. This is not how you get the best work from people.

Why not? At least when you apply for a job you know exactly what you are going to be working on.

No matter the name of the studio, unless they hire top talent for key positions (starting with writing roles) they will be stuck as the creators of Craig.

The actual stories and writing have been ok imo, apart from 5. If you ask me.

They just need to make 8-9 Halo levels with great set pieces, great AI, great weapons, a Tank and some snow. Stick in some 3 way battles with the flood for good measure.

Why is that so hard?

I was talking about Unreal Engine 5 which doesn't run well on Microsoft's consoles, Gears is made in UE4, Halo is a big game with big scope, it should be targeting 60fps with 120fps multiplayer, but it will be hindered by using UE5 for sure.

I think this new game will hopefully be next gen only, by that time they should have a better handle on UE5, it is just an extension of UE4 after all.

We'll see i suppose I'm not totally convinced myself either btw.

So is this the first example of MS putting games on competing consoles to fund their own first party developments? If so, thanks PSuckers! Gears. Halo. What's next?

It's all been downhill since Halo 3, so maybe that gives a clue.
Loads of studios have worked on only one IP for ages and dont seems to have issues.

Look at Rocksteady they only worked on Batman for a decade. Bungie, Destiny, Rockstar GTA etc etc

I dont see it as being an issue, the opposite in fact. They'll attract people who are passionate about Halo, surely thats a good thing if they hire the correct people.

Will they still be making Halo? It would be weird to have them rebrand to Halo Studios, just to have them work on Redfall 2.

Don't get it twisted, bro. MS is putting games on other consoles because they need to survive. It doesn't guarantee the success of the game, much less funding the next project

Next game will star Master Chiefine, a black battle hardened female loner confused about where she fits in this lonely world of despair, oppression and strife. The evil mega overlord (white successful man of course) will be the new bad guy.

I'm lost too. Not sure why people are attacking her here.
People are colour blind, where there is rainbow they see only red.

She comes across as decent enough in that vidoc tbh. At least she doesn't want everyone calling her Prof or some bullshit.

What's the point if it's just the same people/management involved anyway? They want to drag the Halo brand name even deeper into the dirt by attaching it to a bad studio?

I guess the proof will be in the next game. Are the same creative leads still in charge? If so we may be screwed. Did they shuffle people around, lay people off or hire new people? Let's hope that all these changes yields better results, but MS and whoever makes the next Halo have a lot to prove.
