Some advice if you will? I have a series X and a PC, but saw on steam reviews the game isnt too well optimised? I have a 4070/7800x3d, what would you guys reccomend I play this on?

Seriously. I have a beastly pc but buy on pc. The only issue i have seen is the cutscene one where there seems to be an odd frame skip every few seconds. Like one frame but it's not spoiling it too much.

I can't see how a console can look anywhere close to pc. I am sure you can tweak to get good performance and dlss transformer is bonkers on this game.

FYI. I watched the digital foundry and PC looks next gen compared to anything I've seen on console.

Well I was on the fence but I'm glad I bought this game after my first few hours, it's great so far. The story isn't quite on the same presentational level as Ghost of Tsushima, but, it is very enjoyable and a big step up from previous AC games I would say. Gameplay-wise it is very fun overall, I can feel the Ubisoft magic already making me excited to explore this world and clear the map.

The hair rendering, at least at max settings on pc is amazing, one of the best ones I have seen in a videogame

You need to finish Act 1. Their paths cross at the end of the first Act, and then it gets really good.

I'm such a fool, I was thinking the graphics were insane and then I turned on HDR. Mindblown. Maybe the prettiest game ever. Now I am going photo mode an unhealthy amount.

It really is a gorgeous game. People claiming it's not are insane. Screenshots don't even do it justice, when you are moving around the world it looks even better.

Definitely some inspiration there, and Japanese media in general honestly! I’ve gotten bits of Kurosawa, Ishiro Honda etc. There’s a flair and flamboyance to the cutscenes that is new to the AC series. Like I said in a previous comment, they are so dramatically and strikingly directed and shot. Beautiful work, and the jaw dropping visuals certainly help to enhance them.

On the PC vs console debate here: it’s an interesting one. Now of course, you’ll have a superior visual and performative experience if you have the hardware to unlock that for you. However, I can’t say at all that the experience on Series X isn’t properly “current gen”. I’ve also said this before, in the DF thread, but the RTGI implementation here is not half-baked on console. The developers went above and beyond to make sure it was done properly, and the result is genuinely transformative.

If you’re on console like I am, and playing in Quality mode, you’re not missing out on so much visual depth and detail, that the game will be worse off for you. I’ve yet to upgrade my rig (2080 Super currently), and I didn’t feel like having to drop settings and res just to get Shadows to run at 60 fps. For me, to my eyes and in-person as a PC guy first, the Series X version is incredible. The only thing to take into consideration is the 30 fps cap, but it’s a “smooth” 30, you know? You can also do 40 fps if you’ve got the right TV.

Now, if you have a 4000-series card, then you shouldn’t be asking lol; play the game on your PC. AC games haven’t been performance dogs in… Forever really, since Unity.

The Black Flag remake will be great, but I don't know how Hexe can top this. It's going to remain the best AC for a long time.

Completed the Tenshin Temple last night before calling it, and what a tough one that was! Merely because I was under-leveled, and I saw the temple off in the far far distance, said “hey that looks cool”, and went over there. It felt really satisfying to have finally liberated it though.

I’m at work this morning fiending over this damn game, like a part of me genuinely wants to take off and go hop on lmao.

Don't ignore the castles. Killing the Daimo in the castles unlocks a chest inside that rewards a legendary item. The Daimo are easy with Naoe, just assassinate from above.

Yeah already was thinking last night the transition to him will for sure be a bit jarring after coming off of playing stealthily and careful for a dozen or so hours, but at the same time will probably be pretty damn refreshing just curbstomping and lopping off heads

His intro was pretty damn badass and I like how the characters DO take his race into account.
