This game has more attention to detail than any other AC. This is the direction I want them to continue going. Sincerely hope this game does well and they continue to improve on ACs detail vs the copy-paste shit of the past two games.

Like I said, the bar is set INCREDIBLY high for Hexe.

Yeah already was thinking last night the transition to him will for sure be a bit jarring after coming off of playing stealthily and careful for a dozen or so hours, but at the same time will probably be pretty damn refreshing just curbstomping and lopping off heads šŸ˜†

His intro was pretty damn badass and I like how the characters DO take his race into account.
I don't think its a spoiler to say if you don't rush through story missions but do sidequests and explore - Yasuke joins you like 15-20 hours into the game. Smart move as by that time this change of pace is more than welcome and frankly elevates my overall judgement on combat here as it stops some enemies from feeling spongy.

Also the claim he canā€™t climb is bullshit. He doesnā€™t have the hook so youā€™re not as flexible as the girl but there is always an angle you can find in a pagoda to get to the top, at least for now I havenā€™t encountered a situation where I couldnā€™t climb somewhere I wanted to.

EDIT: nor quite true there seem to be a few pagodas only Naoe can climb Yasuke will comment on that when you approach it, just haopened 1st time here

And it's pretty easy to determine where Yasuke might be a better choice than Naoe, although both can do anything. One might just make a mission easier than the other.

Some advice if you will? I have a series X and a PC, but saw on steam reviews the game isnt too well optimised? I have a 4070/7800x3d, what would you guys reccomend I play this on?
just check on steam, and refund if it runs bad? 4070 should run circles around series x in any case though.
and seemingly pc version doesn't have stutters too

Subtitles donā€™t match the Japanese dialogue and it is annoying.

I saw a streamer using Japanese and that really bothered me so it made my decision to play in English easy. Seems like they should be able to use A.I. to match their lips to all languages. Maybe people would frown upon that? I'd be cool with it.

I have a pretty equivalent if not slightly worse PC (5800X3D / 7900XT), hereā€™s my settings:

4K
FSR3 - Balanced
FSR framegen on
High preset / RTGI on everywhere
RT reflections Medium

It holds a solid 75-85 fps. Benchmark tool avg was 78 fps. If I turn framegen off it just canā€™t quite hold a 60 fps lock, but does stay above 45 so if you have VRR/G-Sync it should be OK.

Apparently the negativity towards this game before release has now backfired massively. Game has high review scores and it seems Ubisoft has really listened to feedback when it comes to gameplay and graphics. Will definitely buy the Gold Edition at 15ā‚¬ at the end of the year.

There's no Gold Edition. There's no season pass this time. It's just the launch version which comes with the single DLC mission. Deluxe edition only gives you some equipment.

Cyberpunk 2077 uses a AI like tool to match lip sync in every language for every single conversation into the game, and itā€™s working pretty great. Mass effect also has a similar tech, also quite rudimentary.

It already exists, but generally devs prefer to refine as much as possible the English lipsync and do not care about the rest

here are my quality oriented settings for anyone interested in playing with similar hardware at 1440p

framepacing is incredible and game looks incredibly smooth on my VRR screen

Don't ignore the castles. Killing the Daimo in the castles unlocks a chest inside that rewards a legendary item. The Daimo are easy with Naoe, just assassinate from above.
I am hunting them, but it feels like those guys are trying to hide from me. Are they supposed to be throught the whole towns or just within the inner fortress walls?

I went into this with very low expectations and to my surprise I love it, very immersive, very stylish.
It MUST be played in expert mode and Japanese VO. The english VO is absolutely terrible I am amazed these accents are allowed in the modern day, almost comes off as white people doing impressions.

Someone said its Kill Bill in Japan and yes thats exactly it, really like the song choices.

Ill be trying no HUD this afternoon.

Wow, what a game! I'm only about 5 hours in or so, but I'm in love. Got my base going, then headed out on the road, picking up side quests and going towards Sakai. Taking out bandit camps isn't easy, for me so far, but it's fun as hell learning about how best to do things. Assassinate everyone you can, then deal with the others. I love how each enemy type plays so differently in combat, it really makes you think and learn.

Runs fantastically with everything to the max on my 7800X3D/4090 combo. Also put in some time laying in bed playing it on the ROG Ally X, and with FSR framegen I was getting 50ish fps on default settings. Pretty awesome.

It seems to be a common bug, many users are reporting this man. It seems like you'll have to wait for Ubisoft to fix this. It's weird that with so many delays, there is such silly bug like this. If I find a fix or something I will let you know brother

I restarted like 10 times, only got dlss back but no nvidia framegen...

Was going to get this in a sale towards the end of the year but fomo got me.

Is balanced definitely the way to play on a pro with a 120hz tv? Never tried authentic dub either, is that alot better than the English voice over?

Got it installed, just need to finish up kcd2 first, excited ha

Yeah definitely thinking of switching to Japanese VO, the English is pretty bad. If at least Naoe sounded decent I'd probably just stick with it but she might be the worst performer in the main cast and it's killing the immersion / dramatic scenes for me.

Damn thanks for the gold John Marston John Marston .
Hope the game is vibing for you.

These facial animations + semi accurate lips synch jp voices are great in the main cutscenes, true step up from Valhalla. The true test is in the sidequests though, its where Ubisoft historically gets a bit lazy and where studios like cdpr, Larian and warhorse just put maximum effort in 100% of the time.

The bastards on this forum infected me with the FOMO too man, but it was worth it.

Please do not play with English dub.

Actually can't wait to get home in a couple of hours and fire this up.

Might drop rebirth. I'm in Costa del sol and it's killing me. Don't understand how that game got the reviews it did.

Considering the map isn't nearly as big as the bloated messes from before, I don't think it really needs one. I was leveling up last night at a pretty decent pace which definitely wasn't happening in Origins, Odyssey and Borehalla.
It's not really about the map size though, valhalla doesn't need xp boosters either because it had guaranteed skill checked assassinations, so you never really got level gated; origins is practically impossible to focus only on the main story unless you grind side missions to level up appropriately.

My man, the game is set in Japan. Playing in Japanese is the only way to go here

I just generally go English for any game, like Ghost of Tsushima had a pretty good dub and that was fine. This is just distractingly bad and not in a funny anime way.

From what I've read/watched essentially:

-Game is a looker
-Naoe is by far the better character to play as
-Switching to Yasuke is jarring and feels inadequate compared to Naoe due to limitations
-World is still too bloated
-Story drags a bit but picks up towards the end
-If you like the typical AC gameplay loop with improvements to combat/graphics you'll have a good time
-If you are expecting an entirely different game that redefines the AC series, this ain't it

There will be and expansion: Claws of Awaji, which is ~10H and adds a new island and weapons. Probably to this you were referring when you mentioned of a DLC mission, but it will be more than a DLC.

Wasn't even really fully correct what he was saying cause the "launch" version comes with nothing, the pre-order came with the thrown to the wolves mission, and access to the first expansion for free; if you actually just bought it at launch you get neither.

Itā€™s not paid though. Itā€™s included in the normal edition.
