He deleted that tweet twice, lol. First he posted this:Tweet deleted. What did it say?
On November 17, 2020, Ubisoft announced AC Valhalla did 1.8 million units after 1 week. Shadows did 2 million in 2 days.
Yesanyone knows if Black Flag requires Ubiconnect to run on Steam ?
shit, cant remember the email i registered my account
That's why people should use common sense and not treat Steam CCUs as the be-all and end-all metric for a game's success.
Because it is? It's a triple AAA release with no real competition and a full day 1 Steam launch which hasn't been the case with many Ubi games. Cyberpunk, a 5 year old game, had a 24 hour peak of 61K. 65K CCU is garbage and there will be some kind of fallout internally at Ubi; it's just a question of how extreme that will be.Why are people acting as if 65K CCUs is something terrible though?

If the Steam numbers suck because they've turned all their purchases into $18 rentals, that isn't exactly great either. But you can also pay the game on PC on the Ubi subscription "for free" too right?

That is a thing that happens. It's called post-purchase rationalization.
I'll just quote myself from the other thread:Why are people acting as if 65K CCUs is something terrible though?
Shadow's retention is much worse than Odyssey's, too. On the Monday after Odyssey peaked at 62K, it peaked at 51.1K. Contrast that with Shadows which peaked at 44.1K after hitting 64.8K the day before. Not even half, less than half. When Odyssey launched, peak CCU was 16.3 million versus over 41 million for this month. A 4.5% improvement in peak CCU in an environment that is over 150% more active is quite lopsided and not in a good way...

Why are these people trying so hard to claim the game a success? We won't know for a month at least.
It's just weird that so much of their existence is tied to such things.
There are 8 separate threads about this game on the first page. I'm surprised at how much heat it's generating.
The problem is that Ubisoft never actually announced actual sales numbers for Valhalla, the only thing they ever told their investors what that it "exceeded $1 billion revenue"Lots of fake pro-Shadows news going around it seems but at least he deleted it.
Significantly underperforming Valhalla fits with the UK physical data and the garbage Steam numbers.
Tencent is more than likely taking Ubisoft's scalp even if the sales performance is extraordinary (it's not). It's a foregone conclusion at this point. The problem is that Ubisoft never actually announced actual sales numbers for Valhalla, the only thing they ever told their investors what that it "exceeded $1 billion revenue"
So we don't actually know how Valhalla performed, and I doubt we'll ever get any concrete information about how Shadows will perform
The only true indicator we'll ever have of how Shadows performed is if Tencent acquires Ubisoft or not. We can assume it underperformed if this happens

It's actually both, we have truly insane people on both the "want it to succeed" and "want it to fail" sidesIt’s actually the opposite… people desperately wanted the game to fail because some people did not like the idea of having a black samurai and female ninja leads. For months, before the game released people were super confident the game would be a complete flop and that didn’t happen so now those same people are trying to desperately to create “new metrics” to show why this game was a failure.
It’s extremely stupid and sad at the same time because at the end of the day companies should be able to just make the games they want to make.

Dunno if u care enough but AC Blackflag is getting full fledged remake soon, so if u wanna play/replay it one more time dunno if u wanna maybe wait a bit longeranyone knows if Black Flag requires Ubiconnect to run on Steam ?

The reality is that in a capitalist society, the companies have the right to make the games they want to make and the gamers have the right to not buy games they don't want to play. See Dragon Age: The Veilguard for more information
