It is around Christmas time, to be fair.what is function of parent
is function of parent to ensure child's life is satisfaction of momentary whims
Which Leapster device does he have? Just got the Explorer Octonauts game for Xmas and its fantastic. That's true, guys. Where would half of us be without Mavis Beacon and her typing institute? He has some Leapster stuff already, but it's very simple counting and letter recognition stuff that goes over his head for the moment.
I just don't want him to develop the binging habit like I did (tendency to do things 100% or not at all), finishing the original SMB while failing to develop in other equally important ways.

I was taking my two year old through a video game aisle on Boxing Day and he pointed at the Amiibo display, indicating that he wanted the Mario with the fire coming out of his hands.
I was like sorry you're too young for video games and walked away from the aisle when he began to cry. As much joy as video games have given me over the years, I kind of want to delay their introduction into his life so he can develop other interests and not be completely useless at socially beneficial hobbies (i.e. sports, music) with no way of catching up like I was.
Does that make me a bad parent?

Obviously I have no experience with parenting, but 2 seems a mite young for a fully fledged console and all its insidous design hooks
Ah not sure on that one. My 4 year old has a Storio which barely gets touched and a Leapster Explorer which is more popular. Not sure. It's a little alphabet keyboard with an LCD screen that says things like "Find the Letter!"
The more advanced ones aren't on the radar yet.
EDIT: He does love Octonauts though
Hoping to buy him a Vita & Minecraft when he turns 5
is optus broadband decent? my parents are thinking of switching cos they think tpg is crap.
Holy fuck just upgrade internet to Optus Cable.
$90 a month (used to cost $115)
They even upgraded us to the 100Mbps speeds which normally costs $20 extra a month (not mentioned on the website). All for the $90 and it stays the same after the 24month contract expires.
- Local Calls - Unlimited
- 13/1300 Calls - Unlimited
- Standard National Calls - Unlimited
- Optus Mobiles - Unlimited
- Other Australian Mobiles - Unlimited
- International Calls - World Saver Ultimate pack included (unlimited landline to 23 countries and unlimited mobile to 7 counties)
- FetchTV - 30 selected movies a month (1 TB box record Free to Air channels). plus a FetchTV channel pack
- Free Cable modem
- No sign up, setup, delivery fees or other fees just the 90$ a month
To get all that on ADSL 2+ i was previously paying $110 a month! and i never got fetch TV and was getting ADSL+ speeds! I had 3 bills for VoiP+Phoneline+Internet from 3 different companies.
I am paying less for more! and its all under one company now!
(sorry if i sound like an Optus shill/salesman)
No internets?
Like this?Alternatively you could do that thing where you introduce videogaming chronologically
go out there and dig up spacewars and see how he likes that
I've never had any problems with TPG.
Thank Nintendo for not having time limits in this game.

Is that on their website, or were you offered that over the phone?
I'm about to move interstate, and I'm thinking that's worth a look into when I start switching everything over to my new place.
Sorry I forgot Unlimited internet as well haha .

It's called a 'Speed Pack', but they appear to have changed the requirement from being cable to fibre only, which is a bit odd. I'm on the 100Mb speed pack, but the upload's not anywhere near 40Mb, so it's probably slightly different. What are your upload speeds like? The 100mbps a sec thing is something that is not on their website but they 'offered' it to me as a new customer at no extra cost (it's normally $20 extra a month). The default cable speeds are like up to 25 mbps.

Optus Cable is now officially 'NBN', that's what changed.I thought Optus had stopped signing new customers up to cable broadband... for a quite a while there all mentions of cable vanished from their website. It's clearly back now, so I wonder what changed.
Ah, so that finally happened. Does that mean you'll eventually be able to get other retailers selling service over optus cable?Optus Cable is now officially 'NBN', that's what changed.
I won a coles myer gift voucher at my wifes work xmas party, for winning the lawn bowls comp (hell yeah!!).
I'm going to go buy a JB-Hi-Fi gift voucher with it from Coles and get GTAV on PS4.
So whats the best internet provider for Melbourne? Going to have to get internet hooked up to my new place.
Thanks!! Ooh, that Target deal is quite attractive - those are three games I'd actually want to have with the platformThe Target deal is probably the best at the moment. $499 with three games: http://www.target.com.au/p/playstat...-second-son-little-big-planet-bundle/57256443
If you prefer more games, the EB bundles for $598 might be good for you if any of the game combos tickle your fancy: https://ebgames.com.au/featured/console-hardware/ps4
The best recent deal was when Ebay had a 10% off "pay and pickup" or whatever, you could get a PS4 with three games for $399 from Dick Smith. Nothing like that around at the moment that I can see.
