Avowed art director calls Elon Musk a "sad little shit" over Avowed gender pronoun complaints, indicates more of the same in final product

How can the Situation be, that this can even be discussed and not be obviously wrong.

I hope the market corrects itself soon.
Will do so anyway. The question is just when. You can drain all the value created in a System with bullshit like that. But eventuelly ur funds run dry because u dont create enough New value to fight against competitors that arent batshit crazy.

I get that. But what doesn't make sense is the actual screenshot.

If you make a post on twitter, and I (Josh Sawyer) repost it, it would be on my profile (Josh Sawyer's profile). The screenshot isn't from Josh's profile, it's from someone else's profile, so it shouldn't say Josh Sawyer retweeted on the actual retweet. Does that make sense? Even if Josh did retweet it and deleted it from he's profile and its gone now, that screenshot isn't proof that Josh retweeted it to begin with.

He probably just snipped the tweet from Josh's profile and merged it with Matt's profile.

Why on earth would you ever fucking want that? Nothing would change, if anything things would get worse.

Just replace these wastes with people with actual passion for the design and the art. They're out there, it's just that they're not being hired.

What would be funny is if they replaced him with a black guy who hates all the woke stuff and just draws big boobed women all the time. 😂

Man, I really don't understand the root cause or brain rot behind these tweets as a director of a very reputable company that is under one of the richest fucking companies in the world. What a weird decision, the guy is either high or literally wants to get fired to get a golden parachute check or something but even then, he would not qualify as this would be considered an offense, policy violation and many bunches of reasons to get him fired without any compensation.

So, in the end all he accomplished was to destroy his own career as no sane company would hire him and fuck everyone else who worked their ass off to make this project happen and stain the name of the game.

Why would you as a normal fucking guy go after one of the most influential and richest people in the world, what a fucking weird and 'I own the world' decision. If this guy really thinks he is that important, I cannot imagine the working environment around his team, must be fucking awful.

I say this in every thread like this but it seems like a very foolish business decision to alienate at least 50% of your potential customer base by including divisive political stuff like this.

To not include the Woke stuff would alienate 2% of your potential customer base.

Go broke to please 2% is stupid
It truly is fucking bananas

Bioware, Obsidian, Blizzard, forget them, they are a thing of the past. There are almost no old, talented developers left in these teams. These are new teams of developers, just with and old name, with a new vision to make games for housewives and Karens, using as many modern trends as possible, which they think are apealing to such people. They do not make games for us, old school gamers, anymore.

Damn, even Rockstar Games may have been fallen after Dan Houser left, let's see how edgy GTA will remain after the release of GTA 6.

Probably to an extent. I think it's just a result of the safe space mentality that took over colleges a decade ago spreading to other parts of the world. I find it interesting that recently it's usually just one "side" that's deliberately seeking and creating exclusive spaces in an attempt to disengage from people they disagree with, rather than debate or partake in the marketplace of ideas.

That’s what happens when all tech is located in such a small bubble. Forget the world, they are out of touch with their own country.

I think an Art Director can have a personal view and say things without describing the company policy of a division of one of the biggest companies in the world.

It's extremely disingenuous to try and claim one is evidence for the other. Especially once the account that's decided it is the one with as dubious as past as the one quoted.

Here's my problem with this, and it's something where I'm surprised that a lot of game devs, journalists, etc, aren't being hauled over the coals.

If you have a social media account, and it makes no mention of your job, the company you work for, etc, then yes, I think it's fine to post any personal opinion you want as you're clearly doing so from a personal PoV. However, a lot of people aren't doing that: they're posting their place of work, their job title, the projects they are working on, etc, in their profiles on the same social media accounts that they're using to post their opinions. That advertises that they're posting from the PoV of being in that role, and are associating their comments with the company they're working for.

It's like if someone has a job that requires a uniform and gets on a soapbox in public while wearing that uniform. By wearing that uniform while you're publicly ranting, you're acting like you represent the company you work for.

Sad to see Elon Musk waging war on freaking Avowed. Who woulda thought?

They are owned by MS and thats no secret. So its fine I guess.

I do appreciate Xbox for providing free entertainment to everyone, even those who don’t own an xbox.

I imagine next month will be even more fun when Bethesda hating media will tear Indiana Jones a new one.

Ideological capture is the answer. He has what he feels is a moral imperative to do the right thing. When filled with sufficient religious zeal, people are willing to lay down their lives, and the lives of others, for their righteous cause. Sinking the company you work for is trivial in comparison.

It's just a Twitter/X alternative. Nothing more, nothing less. Some people migrated there quickly, others not so much.

I don't see a point yet as Twitter/X still feels efficient enough. I just wish they'd really get the bot accounts and other stuff in order.

Concord tags ?

It's just people adding said tags to label it as "woke", they'll likely change in due time.

It's really bizarre. On one hand, regardless of the opinion or perspective, why would anyone think this is a good idea? Lol. On the other, why and how do companies allow this to even happen in the first place? I said it earlier but I really hope the guy gets disciplined in some way. But I feel like he won't.

I'm glad to see it. It brings major attention to these wack jobs who infest all forms of entertainment.

This one guy is extra bad as he lives this fantasy life where he is a white savior fighting evil as " one of the good ones "

The whole idea of Twitter was a public square.

If bluesky moderates certain common opinions out of existing it is not a public square but rather a private one. Bluesky is not a marketplace of ideas nor a public square. It is a bubble designed to make those inside it feel like part of the main. As that catharsis is no longer needed by a wide swath of the public, users will begin to migrate back to X so they can rejoin the debate.

What he said was in direct relation to a hiring policy. He also happens to be in a position where he would have oversight of any recruitment process for the positions he described.

This goes far beyond any "personal view".
Not only that, but the fact he feels so at ease advocating discriminatory hiring policies strongly suggests those policies are common-place in his environment/bubble

Yes, but it was not the selling point and developers online did not engage openly with people arguing about the game. Even with Starfield, I think there were some unhappy people but I don't recall devs openly mocking consumers.

Right. Some artsie loonie who can't write basic english fucked up. That's not enough for me to throw a game under the bus 🤷‍♂️ If I stopped consuming for every loonie present at any given companies, I would stop buying anything. Obsidian and Microsoft though have to stop this shit, 100% agree. Yea this guy fanned the flames. He should have repercussions for endangering the work of a couple hundreds of peoples behind the project.

If its Dragon age veilguard 2.0, I'll be happy to start the fire.

This is so absurd and unprofessional, why can't they just stfu? Why are companies still letting these people kill their marketing on social media? WHY? It makes no sense, that person singlehandly made sure the game flops and with literally no benefit, ZERO benefit, and the company will continue working with him as if nothing happens? There might be a clause in the contract that literally specifies that the employee should not damage the employer reputation or whatever, it just makes no sense to me, it's not like they're doing it "for the money" because that literally kills any chances of success in current climate? Maybe they spent so much time being overworked for years that haven't realized the world turned 180º against that narrative to the point there's a radicalization pandemic in the other side? ffs

I've been expressing my concerns about how mediocre Avowed is shaping up to be for the last year and half. You are just slow on the uptake and making wild assumptions about my "real motives" at this point.

my post was very clearly worded. You’ve dismissed positive previews as smoke and mirrors from gaming journalists, dodging the fact that the preview was extended to a wide assortment of streamers including many most of the community here claim to trust.

It would be funny if Musk bought them only to fire his ass.

Musk is going to buy Microsoft?

Season 9 Lol GIF by The Office

Hopefully this will be a colossal failure and pronoun queens will keep their mouths and agendas shut.

If you really wanted this ‘agenda’ dead, why did you say you were going to buy multiple copies of Hogwarts Legacy?

Did you die when you played the game, with its liberal use of they/them pronouns?
