Avowed | First Previews are coming up

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Found this interesting

The guy was a tester back in 1997 for Fallout and then went to Black Isle studios and then Obsidian since 2003. It doesn't say much you will say as what, which dev would throw their games under the bus, but considering that Obsidian had some really janky launches and even broken sometimes like KOTOR 2, that could be a legit sentiment for him. The preview from this thread is kind of ballsy even since they let the previewers capture their own footage and no edit requirements except for the character creator. The dude with 90 mins of footage didn't encounter any bugs.

Sounds like they're reasonably confident in how well the things are coming along. Hope the final product delivers, and the extra couple of months have allowed them to polish out most launch-week issues.

One of the characters is talking like a 2000's character. It's good to see.

The dialogues do pop out to me as something we do not see often.

That part in the village with the dude screaming "LITTLE SHITS"

Also Giatta, one of our companion is cute. Doesn't have the Outer world haircut

Wait till the REEE crowd gets whiff that she was "whitened" from the original concept art (From Mr. Matt Hensen's ?)

Love comments like this with no context to the footage. How do you know they arent in levelled area where enemies are tough etc?
Look at the footage . Does he look levelled up to you ?

If that’s how long it takes to take a guard. How long will it take to kill a boss ? Pretty much break ur finger

One million magic spell just to kill a regular enemy.. fucking pass it’s like I am hitting him with a stick
A magic wand is technically a stick tho.

Maybe they are on the hardest difficulty or it's like a mid-biss\special enemy...

You don't know what you'll miss on!

See the skulls next to the enemy name, it means the player is severely is under leveled.

I mean, the almost near death by being hit one time by the enemy should have been a clue to so called hardcore gamers on neogaf but here we are

Speaking to GamesRadar+ for our Big Preview of Avowed, environment region director Berto Ritger said he thinks the "core of RPGs that makes them special is missable content, to be honest, and it makes the experience feel so much more personal to how you play the game." Water-cooler conversations about the secret questlines in Baldur's Gate 3 or the Breath of the Wild island that turns the game into a survival test are some of the coolest parts of those games, so I'm glad that Avowed is leaning into the same joys.

Sounds interesting, let's hope there's enough addendum content to make journey's feel unique. I don't think I was anywhere near '100%'-ing BG3 either, not even close. There's probably hour(s) of content of supplemental content in the game I've never seen.

Looks like Harry Potter with a gun. The wand combat doesn't hit very hard. Lots of running backwards. The wand combat in Hogwarts was not half bad and they managed to make it look and feel fun.

This village seems completely devoid of life. Like a half dozen npcs total? It looks nice enough I guess but where is everyone?
I swear this is a Unreal Engine 5 problem. Sure the engine can look insanely good, but I have not seen one game properly showcase areas handling many different assets at once. Really concerning how many games are in development using UE5

Even Hitman Bloodmoney had massive amount of Npcs in the levels back in the day.
