Avowed makes me worry about future releases from Xbox.

If it's done right, sure. That's the problem though. It's not being done right. I don't think Titanic is a good analogy because it's based on real world events and it's of a different medium. People play games to have a temporary escape from reality I thought. Pretty sure that's still true. The last thing I want is to be reminded of topics society struggle with in real life.

I'm not against politics and social issues in games if it fits the narrative. It's when it doesn't fit that I have a problem. When it's forcibly put into a game and it doesn't contribute to the story, it doesn't contribute to the gameplay....it's just there as a random ass reminder not to forget about it or something. It's hard to explain. It doesn't feel genuine.
OK, I see your point. I guess we just have different stances on this. First of all, for me, games and movies serve the same purpose - not so much to escape reality, but to embrace new worlds, ideas and perspectives. I find it weirdly soothing and fulfilling. I'm always curious about creators' worldviews even if they don't align with mine and afterwards I can decide if their politics fit the narrative. Regardless, I'm always glad when they do it and I wish more game studios did it (can't forget how disappointed it was when Farcry 5 decided to be non-political even if they clearly intended it to be in pre-prod.)

Call it what it is, embedded political ads. If they're done right, then it's not an issue. I’m not even wasting energy on people jumping into the convo assuming I'm an anti-woke activist with their

Too soon bro. You gotta ease into that shit.

Anyway, his post history is fascinating brah
What's wrong with my post history? :(

I have controversial opinions...pretty often I'll admit. But I try to explain my opinions fully. I don't generally shitpost and I don't claim allegience to any one console company. I just call it how I see it.

I'm actually a little hurt by this Kacho Kacho .

Nahhh psych, I dun give a FUUUUK.

We are supposed to suspend our disbelief because it's a fantasy world of magic. <--- this is what defenders will tell us

But then in a world of magic, there is no way around top scars and abortions.

So yes, it's ham-fisted and sad little slacktivism that sticks out like a sore thumb. Especially in these fantasy worlds.

I would argue that the number of people who look for these type of political topics to be included in their games are in the minority. I don't even think it's close.

If this is the case, then why are so many of the major games coming out pandering to this minority? Shouldn't it be more reflective of the ratio?
The whole "art has always been political" is bullshit anyway and completely misses the entire point. There is a massive fucking chasm between political as in MGS in a military espionage game, and political as in "mom, dad, I'm non-binary" in fantasy RPG. Very few people actually care about politics, on way or another in their games, what they care about is modern day, preachy activism being pushed into their games.

Apart from the very 1st trailer, which i wish they hadn't switched from personally, everything shown since then pointed to what Avowed is, a mid game for me, and it's not the first game to be like this in recent years either, Phil said he doesn't want great games and that's what we are getting from the top titles, hopefully Doom with buck the trend, i'm basically not surprised now.

Sorry, I just don’t see the big deal. The only valid argument I can see is if a game forces a player to complete a task that goes against their strong beliefs in order to complete the main objective, specifically if said player is past their refund window. To that I say, ya should have done some serious research first, you're out of luck. Personally, there’s no belief I hold strongly that I'd even consider bitching about over a damn video game. There are better places and platforms for that.

I don't know if this counts but you do get a reward from the madam in the brothel is you react positively to her wanting to use abortion herbs. I took a middle of the road kinda position. Obviously I've only played that side quest once so I don't know what happens if you report her to the authorities.

Honestly, I totally understand why some people wouldn’t even want to be put in that kind of dilemma in the first place. I know I’d be pissed if I came across a part in a game where I had to decide whether to hand over a legendary item just because some authority figure asked for it without good reason. Sure, it might remind me of things I don’t like about real life, but if there’s an option to say ‘screw that’ and blast their head off instead, it’s not so bad. :messenger_beaming:

You are clowns - people who defend this bullshit. This stories, this games are unsufferable. Avowed, Dragon Age is not even a proper games, they are trash. I don't know, there is a little possibility Fable can turn out to be good. A little. But judgung by that character, Fable is going the same path as Avowed and Dragon Age. And you trash defenders sayd the same things about Avowed and Veilguard. You defended them too. We live in such a sad times. It is literaaly hard to call shit a shit this days. Instantly some people will emerge who will say: you are clowns how dare you call this shit a shit?

PROTIP: seek out women in real life. Videogame women aren’t a substitute.

While I agree with a majority of what you've said, no one can convince me that any Xbox fan (myself included) was talking about this type of shit years ago. Back then, the focus was entirely on what Xbox Game Studios had to offer us platform holders, not what Microsoft was providing to everyone, every god damn where. So I completely get why those shell shocked from the console wars look at us like we on crack when we try to have a rational discussion about the new direction.

I really feel for those on the front lines who stood their ground and took all the heat for Xbox, only to look around and see Microsoft handing over what little spoils remained to their rivals.

Yeah, if someone owned only one console and that was an Xbox, I could see why they’d be upset.

But if you already had options from day one, it’s not like the Xbox offer is significantly diminished because others get to play…as long as the platform remains alive, anyway.

We were talking about Jetpac. Jigsaah Jigsaah is a ride or die Xbro. He ain't stirring up shit for the fun of it.
But I'm not really. I been on PC since 2018. I play 100% of my games on PC. I had Xbox One, PS4 and Switch last gen. I only bought and Xbox this gen because I couldn't get a PS5. I tried for both releases. I ended up giving up on purchasing more consoles when I lucked out and got a RTX 3080, then a 4090.

I just a fan of games in general. My post history may lean Xbox, but it's honestly because I hate exclusives....being a PC guy. Xbox is doing away with them so I support that. Sony is coming around, slower than what I'd like but I've double dipped more of Sony's games.

I'm sorry if that's disappointing, but I just wanna be clear and not misunderstood. I'm a habitual fence sitter.

No, I saw them, but I thought it was just a slice...not the whole frickin game. Like...the dungeons are bright and colorful. Everybody is a fucking mushroom or a furry. How did it come to this?

I'm doing quests that talks about abortion...like come on man.
Ahahaha!

I'm more worried about the $70 USD price tag becoming the standard. Especially for a 20 hour game. I mean, this isn't GTA6 level of budget or quality.
