Banned for using photo mode psn

That’s absolutely ridiculous. Regulation really needs to at least try and keep up with the digital future.

Corporations shouldn’t get any say in what you do with a product you’ve bought. The fact that they can include any vague rules in their guidelines is extremely stupid.

Launch day of the Xbox One, I got social banned for shouting “die mother f*****r, die!” while stabbing someone from behind in BF4 😂 didn’t realise the clips auto uploaded 🙈

Lucky it was only a few days ban, but scared the crap out of me at the time as there was zero info online about it nor MS support knew anything about it.

But OP must have had multiple infraction as a perma ban for an image is a bit OTT.

Go to twitter OP, getting attention over there is your only shot at getting it reversed. Make sure to tag playstation and warn people about the digital future and buying digital content on the PS Store.

I will say this though OP, while your perma ban seems unjustified (if things are really as you said), I cannot feel sorry for your £40,000 of lost content because you chose to buy all that shit digitally, you chose "You'll own nothing and you'll be happy" and I have zero sympathy for people who do that.
I bought a disk drive but can't bring my self to even start paying for the games again
I had plat trophies from games that don't even exist anymore fs
The games I owned are mostly PS4 and 5 games and disk for them pre owed comes in at 6 plus quid
Hell divers 2 is £20
I was a day one player I am no more

Call them, they should lift your ban. imgur also kept deleting a pretty SFW image from Stellar Blade i uploaded, tagging it as breaking the TOS rules. AI gona AI.
And i better turn off the auto upload feauture just in case.

Auto uploads to ps app flagged it

I will join those who wish to see the screenshot. Please provide evidence, we will give a verdict =)))
It would also be interesting to read Sony letter, if possible, especially interesting with what wording this ban was issued, well, and the reason for the refusal.
If I understand you are from England, in the last year so many people have been convicted for posts on social networks that I would not risk posting anything at all (Although it is not a fact that this is the reason) =)

Oh and switch to PC, nobody will ban you there for goon pictures
Not to burst the "just get PC" bubble, but this isn't just a PSN thing. Searching google you will find many posts about people getting their steam account banned "for no reason". It happens just about everywhere and is the result of companies using crappy bots to save money. I often see threads like these used for disguised platform warring and I think it's a really shitty thing to do to someone hurting after essentially losing their entire gaming collection. Not talking about you specifically.

Eh, if you got banned from Steam you probably did something to fuck it up ngl.

This has resulted in the loss of over £40,000 worth of games
Of course, it will sound bad and I'm not trying to cover up Sony. But this has not been the case for a long time. It doesn't matter where you buy a game in PSN, Xbox, Nintendo Shop, even Steam recently changed the wording, so that everyone would understand. Everything you buy in digital stores is a license for the game, not the game itself. These games never belonged to you and were not yours, and any store including STEAM reserves the right to completely disconnect you from your library in the event of an account ban. In fact, they simply revoke your license to play games. Welcome to the age of high technology and the digital future...

Steam has different layers of bans though. There are VAC bans that pretty much stop you from using VAC protected servers (mainly for cheating), there are community bans which happen for violating codes of conduct (you cannot use the forums but still have access to your games), and so on.

Not saying the possibility of having your entire account doesn't exist, but cases where entire steam accounts got wiped are fairly rare, and i've never seen it happen for something as innocuous as what OP did.

Fuck me if this true. Digital future anyone?

You can be banned for absolutely anything and they have no obligation to return single cent to you.

Motherfuckers.
It's honestly baffling. It's literally a photo mode within a game published by Sony ... how the fuck does any of this make sense? And for them to just cut off all access to OPs games that he's spent a colossal amount of money on. Surely to fuck they'll be able to overturn this, OP just needs to find the right person at Sony to speak to. Total madness.

Code of conduct - this is very interesting, actually. It will be difficult to say anything here until we see the reason for the ban itself, the definition is too broad.
Here we need to see the picture itself, and the post itself if there was text written there.

I actually agree. OP has nothing to lose by posting the image here. If it's literally an in game image then nothing is going to happen to him here. I think he should post it here and on Twitter, and get it doing the rounds over there until some Sony fucks take note.

I'm not sure how it's possible to even spend $40,000 on the PS Store

If you google it, the total cost of everything on there as of about a year and a half ago was $23,000

Unless you've also been buying a ludicrous amount of in game currency as well

Some social amplification might help. Grummz on Twitter, (if anyone here speaks with/knows him) probably your best bet it seems perfect content for him, and he also likes to tweet about stellar blade.

Btw I'm nobody I'm nobody , if you could at least reproduce the picture in-game, that would help boosting attention to your case. Its sad but as other people said, getting online attention is one of your best bets. Post this on asmon subreddit or the stellar blade sub or wherever it may get attention (not playstation subs since i've a feeling they'd try to shift the blame on to you given the levels of fanboyism there)

I'm not saying you will specifically get the exact type of ban for the exact same reason. I'm saying all auto-moderation is inherently flawed regardless of platform and can result in unfair suspensions so coming to threads like this to suggest a change of platform to someone hurting is not only shitty, but doesn't guarantee a similar thing can't happen again for a multitude of reasons.

Yep, get the photo from your console to a usb drive or take a photo of it from your screen even.
Post it on here, reddit and send it to Grummz on Twitter. It should get you some attention then.
(and I want to see the photo too)

Btw, this thread greatly illustrates why folks need to shop with awareness regarding going digital only. Sure, its convenient, but one "misunderstanding" and you may get locked out of your entire library. This applies to all digital only services.

You need to reach out to them through other means than e-mail. This might as well be some automated response without a human assessment.

I'm not sure why you've pointed this out? To all intents and purposed OP had completely reasonable expectation of playing their games for as long as they wanted, whenever they wanted.

If Sony will not listen I would make a complaint to your Local Member of Parliament. I am sure Sony (and other digital content providers) do not want politicians changing laws around digital content making them more consumer friendly.

Fuxking seriously my guy ?
Who elected you as the arbiter of what people should or shouldn't do ? Who asked for your permission? Jesus Christ at the smugness - i hate using derogatory terms but...that would be considered as hardcore 'sperging...
"Zero sympathy" LMAO

On-topic now :
I empathize with the OP, I really do, but, maybe there's something else going on ? I find it hard to believe that someone would get banned for taking pictures of a game, that the same company sells and knows that it can get lewd (especially after the release of the photo mode which is an OFFICIAL one to boot i.e, not a mod/etc), I get it getting banned from -say - a photo/captures club like on Xbox but...getting your whole account banned for this shit ? How's it possible ? How can it be a TOS violation from the moment that this is software sold OFFICIALLY using an OFFICIAL add-on (photo mode) ?
It'd be like, a cinema/theater banning you because...you went to see a violent movie that the same theater showed/sold you tickets to, it doesn't make sense...

I'm not saying that the OP is lying, just that there must be something else going on - maybe a charge back/some weird auto-flagging/crass messages exchanged via PSN during online etc etc ?

I refuse to believe that such a thing would be enough as to ban anyone and make you lose thousands of Eurodollars spent on their platform.Shit is just dystopian if that were to be true.

I'm appalled but at the same time intrigued about this whole thing, like, fuckin' hell...

Please keep us informed OP about how the whole thing goes.
Hope everything gets resolved !

Because it's true. Sony doesn't live by "for all intents and purposes", it lives by its TOS which have allegedly been broken. You're playing by someone else's rules, and sticking your head in the sand doesn't help change that.

I don't agree with it, of course. But right now that's the truth and it should be pointed out.

That's why i buy digital games (usually) when they are dirt cheap and on multiple platforms (Steam, EGS and even on fucking EA launcher and Ubisoft Connect) - I don't trust any of those motherfuckers.

If they ban me? I will just...
