Your so braindead you don't even have your own arguement right regarding ps plus, xbox has more than 100 million subs including gamepass, which clearly even puts that above sony's 50 million.

They partnered with MS for Azure to leverage the Cloud services, but that's just one part of a subscription service, not the entirety of the service. And they already have that infrastructure in place because you can stream games as well as download them with PS Now.
In fact, Sony has been doing it even before Microsoft's Gamepass.
Because they don't want to give away their games day one on a subscription service. They want to sell. It's a different business strategy. This GP business model doesn't make sense when Sony is selling 10-20 million copies.

You litererally said if they don't have games it's going nowhere. Whereas the reality is it will remain the number 1 paid subscription like it is now.
And regarding you comment about xbox subs, got any proof because MS certainly aren't providing any? Guess you are counting the active users article from a couple of years ago, that includes PC players that don't pay or standard live users that also don't pay.
if you want to use that as some metric, then PS has 111 million, without PC

Xbox Live
Xbox Live Gold
Xbox Live Ultimate
See how they all are different layers of the same thing?
Kind like the argument you are using about about xbox live users. You are lumping them all together so you already know whomever subs for PSN+ now, will also be a sub for PSN+ when the changes are made.
Not everyone needs to sub to the top tier for it to be added to a sub numbers for PSN+ , unluckily for you.

Yes, sure. Include all GP + Xbox Live Gold subscribers and minus the XLG subscribers that have converted to GP, so you don't double count. When you're done, please share the numbers with us.

Your ability to process information is astounding. I make a comment about it being akin to psnow (which has no subs), you say things about ps plus, then somehow circle around and say I moved the goalposts to psnow? Huh?
By your own admission, you have no idea how many subs xbox has right now, so how is you can declare ps plus the number one sub service?
And we all know you keep trying to twist it, the fact is, in terms of a real subscription service with an actual large library of games to download and play right now, it's ps now vs gamepass right now, and it's getting trounced.
Trounced in value, trounced in number of games, depth of games, and number of subs. Sheesh, talk about moving goalposts......
Of course this could all change in a heartbeat, but it won't if all sony does is add a few old games and repackage ps now.

IIRC, Crunchyroll has a deal with Microsoft that is about to end. I'm not sure if the timing matches next April 5th (when I think the first Spartacus games would become available to play/download). If the contract beyond goes that, there is a possibility that it might not be a part of the PS Plus subscription until that.

To add to that, MS also used Xbox Live Gold subscribers and converted them into Gamepass subscribers by asking them to pay $1 (that's how they got to 25 million subscribers today). I don't see anyone complaining against that, but they are now questioning the validity of combining PS Now and PS+ in the context of total subscriber count.

They’re questioning because it’ll not be a good look to MS when Sony hilariously release the numbers of the new ps+. It’ll be really fun to watch. Disney+ achieved Netflix numbers in way less time than Netflix and the new ps+ will achieve GP numbers in way less time than GP. It is what it is.

But Sony will have to be a lot more aggressive than they usually. First party games hitting the service after 6 months or so, investing big on indies, and I would argue that they should start making Lost Legacy style size spin offs from their IPs with day and date in mind for the service.
Disney’s and HBO Max layered approach will win long term.

They have some amazing developers and ip's, but unless they are willing to do day and date, that's like disney launching disney plus with the mandelorian being held back 2 years. It won't have the same growth.

Why is this being labelled a competitor? Nobody is going to buy a PlayStation for this based on the info we’ve been given, whereas some people will by an Xbox for GamePass and first party releases. Where is the competition?

How will people compare Gamepass with this considering its all one subscription together for Sony?
With this, PSPlus will be above 50M for the first time next week.
People are also undermining the nostalgia effect. PlayStation already has such a huge history that if they play their cards right this could be huge. Imagine PSOne, PS2 and PS3 hits in there. Imagine the Resistance games or Killzone 2 available in a week. You think that type of content would flop?
Plus I'm expecting PS5 games on the old Psnow service so games like demon's souls could be there day one. Maybe even Returnal? Maybe the new free update wasn't a coincidence for this week that passed.
The only thing I wish they could do is native PS3 support. That's the one thing I know they will drop the ball.
One last thing, isn't Gamepass making people to buy more games and aren't plenty of games there for a limited period of time? So when that period is over and you want to play the games you need to buy them right? I'm sure that has happened before to a lot of you. Saying demos aren't going to work is weird. Imagine if they include horizon forbidden west available for 3 hours and a screen shows up asking for you to buy it. I'm sure plenty of people would bite.

But no matter, keep moving the goal posts, including people that haven't paid for the service to try and prove some kinda point that active users (which coincidentally is lower than ps numbers anyway) means more people pay to sub for ms services, when that is a straight up lie.
Also no one talked about value, another clear sign you are moving goalposts, value is subjective. I have a voucher for gamepass that I've had for well over a year. It remains unused as there's nothing compelling for me to use it with. Gamepass has little value to me at this time.
PlayStation plus has the most paid subs and will do after the changes. No amount of mental gymnastics from you will change that.

I completely agree with this. It would be awesome if they started converting more PS2 games to PS4/PS5 and putting them up on PS Store. There are so many great games from that era that are lying dormant. Making these games available on PS Store would surely please gamers, and also please the developers and publishers who can profit from them.
This is the part where I disagree somewhat. Sony did develop a PS1 emulator for PS4, which was used in MediEvil on PS4, to play the original PS1 game that is unlockable. If they offer a proper emulator on PS4/PS5, then they can potentially gain numerous the benefits that are currently afforded to PS4/PS5 games through the OS (Remote Play, SharePlay, screen shot/video capture, streaming), while avoiding the added control lag that currently affects PS1 games on PS3 (and that lag would be increased while streaming through PS Now).
Treating PS1 games as "streamable PS3 games" might avoid some of the hassle with licensing and testing, but if it was that simple, then why hadn't they done that already? One possibility is that their existing licenses don't include streaming. If Sony has to negotiate streaming rights, then they might as well do it through the PS4/PS5 and lump in digital downloads while they're at it. I can't envision many (if any) publishers saying "no" to this, if this brings along a renewed opportunity to sell digital copies to new audiences.
I also believe that Sony and other publishers must have made some money on at least some of the PS1 games on PS3/PSP/Vita, or they wouldn't have kept the program going for so many years. They would have ceased their offerings much more quickly, like they did with PS2 games on PS4 (which was an initiative that they bungled for numerous reasons).
Sony didn't offer PS1 games for sale on PS4 during the last 8+ years. That was a mistake. Perhaps Sony is finally recognizing this error in judgment, and choosing to rectify it now. Better late than never!

PS+ = 48 million subscribers.
Gamepass = 25 million subscribers (many using the $1 conversion path from XBLG).
