States saying “we do not want these sexually explicit materials in our public schools” is not the same as banning them. Those books are still readily available to buy if parents want their kids to have them. They have no business being in public schools - especially not elementary and middle schools.

Anyone claiming this is the same as outright book banning has swallowed the propaganda hook, line, and sinker.

Besides, last I checked this wasn’t exactly a right-only thing. I recall multiple liberal-leaning school boards trying to remove books like To Kill A Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn because they had “offensive language” (aka the n-word). Let’s not forget how leftists called for all JKR’s books to be pulled over her personal transgender opinions — ironic considering two decades earlier liberals fought against the knee-jerk conservative attempts to block her books over silly “witchcraft” claims. Want to make a liberal go apoplectic? Just say that the Bible (and the Tanakh, and the Qu’ran) should be in public school libraries.

Spare me the propaganda and righteous indignation. Both the left and right have been trying to remove and censor media as long as I’ve been alive. I remember Joe Lieberman and Tipper Gore. I remember the Satanic Panic and the ludicrous claims against popular metal/rock music.

Notable comment: The American Library Association released a statement signed by its executive board and Boards of Directors of its eight divisions in response to "a dramatic uptick in book challenges and outright removal of books from libraries".[32] Their message condemned "a few organizations [which] have advanced the proposition that the voices of the marginalized have no place on library shelves ... falsely claiming that these works are subversive, immoral, or worse [and inducing] officials to abandon constitutional principles, ignore the rule of law, and disregard individual rights to promote government censorship of library collections".[32][19] A spokesperson told ABC News that in her time working with reports of book challenges, she had "never seen such a widespread effort to remove books on racial and gender diversity"

Though, as had been said. When the right bans stuff, that's ok

Human decency or enabling delusion? I tend to view it as the latter. It’s not like I’m going to go out of my way to insult anyone transgender if I happen across them but a “small amount of people” (your words) don’t have the right to demand the rest of the world abandon reality to make them feel better about themselves.

And they most certainly don’t have the right to peddle this gender ideology stuff in public elementary schools.

Edit: Allow me to clarify a bit. I skew towards the libertarian end of conservatism in that if someone wants to go through the process of gender reassignment, cool. That’s their individual right and prerogative. But it doesn’t suddenly alter reality for the rest of us. They aren’t magically equal to biological women or men because of their choice, and they don’t get to demand special rights because of it.

Instead, we get delusional stuff like this, which is why people are pushing back against it:

Upy0hIV.jpeg

Lol, fucking hell, don't these idiots realise the harm they are doing coming off with this shit, I mean that is genuinely fucking deranged and the "trans" community should be doing everything in their power to curtail morons like that as all it does is push the more moderate sympathisers to the right... Biologically female!? Lol fuck me they're now going full flat earth and just denying reality now

Maybe blame the people who made “Strong Black Woman” the DEI poster child. Blame the people who started race swapping characters and making every single fictional or historical setting as diverse as downtown LA and trying to cancel anyone who pointed out that it doesn’t make sense. Blame black Cleopatra.

People used to be OK with diverse casting and mostly thought it was kinda cool. But nowadays it’s a strong indication that the writers don’t know how to fucking write and they put messaging over story + characters. You can’t blame people for noticing patterns.

Ironic how the “let’s force extreme diversity into everything, and call everyone bigots if they don’t like it” strategy just made people start disliking diversity. You morons only hurt the people you pretended to help.
Just got back from the last cancel culture meeting.

Update were canceling fantastic 4 now because silver surfer is a woman.
Make sure everyone downvotes the trailers and gives it 1 star reviews. And of course follow and watch your favorite anti woke youtuber who definitely isnt profiting from all the rage farming.

Yeah Cancel Culture ain’t going anywhere .. Matt Gatez just found that out the hard way.

Also it’s funny how posters are mixing cancel culture with DEI practices… the 2 don’t even share a room apart from being practised by the liberals.
Oh man. We got Matt gaetz defenders now too. Guess diddy and cosby are also victims.

We’ve found the difference folks. Concerted attempts to get trans people fired for trying to get gen z drinking, thats just battling DEI. But if it was jared from subway, we like jared so thats cancel culture.

Am I gay if I find my trans girl roommate extraordinary beautiful? 🤔
Depends if you got feelings to go after her. If you do then you are gay because he has a wiener.

But just thinking someone is good looking is not. I think lots of pro athletes or celebs are good looking guys (way better looking than I am!). That’s not being gay. No different than a woman saying another woman is good looking. Doesn’t mean she’s a lesbian.

But whether or not you want your roommate doesn’t really matter. Do what you want. You shouldn’t need to ask questions about it wanting gaf to give you pats on the back for confirmation.

You really came back with a Wikipedia article that cherry picks data only from the last four years as a counter argument? 🙄 That’s the definition of living in an echo chamber.

Government censorship of speech has been an issue from both parties for the last 47 years I’ve been alive. Since you conveniently ignored the rest of my post I’ll reiterate that I remember when leftists were cheering for having classics removed from school reading lists because they found the language of the era “problematic”. It isn’t a “right only” issue and anyone who thinks it is has been brainwashed by modern mainstream media.

But your last line makes it clear you have no intention of arguing in good faith and already have your mind made up.

She hates me. It's a real bummer. I would go out with her in a heartbeat.

Lol, they always are. And the thing is, THEY would NEVER date a trans-woman. They only want REAL women. But I thought trans-women are real women

Funny how they can apply their bullshit logic to everybody except themselves. I guess they're the real transphobes.
Thats the TERF slur the transphiles came up with to bully lesbians/feminists. Pure insanity but amazing how a catchy bit of slang can really get traction. I wish "super straight" had caught on, just doesn't roll off the tongue well enough I guess :p

Sorry I'm still hungover from last night otherwise I would have responded sooner.

Anyways, I think she had a trans woman over here a few months ago so I think she is into that. I'm not sure to be exact.

A comic artists i follow, who actually is pretty center right leaning at best, named Sean Gordon Murphy got his batman white knight book banned in Florida.

Theres not even anything egregious in it; but its banned from k to 12.

I expect were gonna see a lot more like that.

It’s perfectly okay for a company to cut ties with someone found guilty of sexual assault. This is not cancelling. This is common sense.
You can’t even get hired at most companies in the US with something like that a Google search away.

A lot of companies do routine background checks every few years to catch new stuff too.

Which has been going on for decades and really doesn’t have anything to do with modern cancel culture.

Appeals processing can take years too. Kind of feels like the anti-woke version of purity testing to expect companies to not cut ties until all appeals are exhausted.

I feel like they could have just made him scream out "I'm a right cunt!" as you kill him, something to keep all the hard work done by their team but also pacify the folks bothered by a MMA fighter undoubtedly suffering from brain damage pulling shenanigans.

He was hit in civil court, which is a bit different than criminal court IMHO, and he's gonna pay and that's the punishment. This idea that "society" should continue to shame and punish you after you have served your punishment is a tricky one for me. Make it optional to use him in the game if you must and scrap plans for future content, but to scrub the work of the artists seems excessive.

Yes, that is true. Doing a quick lookup, civil liability in Ireland appears to be similar to the United States, whereby a decision is made on a "balance of probabilities" (51% likelihood being sufficient) rather than guilt beyond a reasonable doubt as in criminal cases. A civil verdict doesn't have anywhere near the same weight to it as a criminal one.

Given that he basically appears to be a coked up maniac any time he's seen in public these days, I don’t think people are likely to go to bat for him though.

I dunno, at least back when this happened and there was a criminal investigation, either a few folks went to bat for him or the two ladies were out to get him.

It's a muddy story like these things always are. My one sticking point in these things is the automatic assumption that a guy can be wasted but fully accountable while a female is not. Seems to me that if everyone involved is blasted and coked out of their minds then NO ONE is consenting (or they ALL are). The notion that "Whisky dick" would prevent a sufficiently intoxicated male from being able to perform and that's a proxy of their ability to consent is ludicrous.

Yes, you have the notion that men and women are both adults with agency and equal rights, but on the other hand in identical situations where both are intoxicated, a man can only be a perpetrator and a woman can only be a victim, even if both parties consented at the time. This doesn't logically follow.

I don't know the details of this case in particular though to comment on the alleged events.

Money talks and no progressive BS boycott cancel culture campaign can destroy her legacy. HP is still a very profitable brand and HBO wants that piece of the pie.

"After he pinned her on to the bed, he put her in a choke hold three times, telling her now she knew how he felt in the octagon when he tapped the ground three times, she said."

Some real "THIS IS MAGA COUNTRY" energy right here.

A certain public figure was credibly accused of paying underage girls for sex ... Many didn't care because they saw the girls as a whores so they didn't matter to them ... Until recently, this public figure wasn't held to any account by people within his sphere.

If you're talking about Gaetz, these accusations were investigated and deemed insubstantial by the DOJ. Being "held to account for credible accusations" would have been prosecution and possibly jail time. Not a media and political badgering. They didn't screech at his nomination because of accusations, they did it because they didn't like him or his politics.

Nah, it's still alive and well. Just ebbing and flowing.

People have always been very hypocritical about "cancel culture" and will either allow it or ignore it when it's their own side who is calling on someone else to be cancelled.
