Days Gone Remastered Officially Announced | State of Play

That's fair, but the history of Sony and this game has to be taken into account. Charging for a remaster of a game when the developers have been outspoken against Sony and the players have been told a sequel won't happen is a bit meh.
It's only one developer, who seems like a complete egomaniac. Seriously, fuck that guy

But I don't disagree. Sony overreacted to the launch of Days Gone. It got mediocre reviews and was very buggy. At that point in time, every new AAA Playstation game was a smash hit, so Days Gone in comparison was seen as a failure. Bend studio are most likely not the same studio that developed Days Gone, which sucks

So no material changes? They didn’t say anything about FPS uncapped modes or anything.

I bought on PC for dirt cheap- seems that this isn’t anywhere near the level of Horizon.

Give me Days Gone 2.

Yeah, agreed. It's a shame, and I think Sony might turn back to it at some point as the hordes were fantastic and the game is definitely an IP that would interest people.

I bought Days Gone Digital Deluxe Edition this past October for $18.50 and still haven't played it.

Guess I'll wait and get the upgrade for $10 more and play that.

Hmm so the PC release is coming out as just a DLC and not a new sku. So probably no real graphical upgrades which is kinda dissapointing. As much as people rag on The Last of Us and Horizon remasters, the upgrades were pretty significant.

I'll take the 10 upgrade and play again for the added content, game was attacked by soyboy reviewers and the Naughty Doge fanboys who hated the game because they think their preferred studio invented zombie games and "why two zombie games are needed?" 🤦‍♂️

Its narrative is not 10/10 but it hooks you in enough to enjoy the ride, horde mode was kind of underutilized but it's great regardless of that

The creative director of Days Gone, John Garvin certainly wouldn't agree with you there. Whatever happened, he's walked away blaming Sony and being very ouspoken.
John said during the interviews that he already wrote the stories for future Days Gone games.
He never said Days Gone 2 was never happening.

My game of last generation...

... but it also still looks really good and has an excellent PC port so definitely way outside the "I need this" territory.

I've played Days Gone for a few hours with PSPlus but am busy with other games so I've put it on hold.
I might buy the remaster if it runs better on PS5 Pro.

Don't care about the graphical upgrade as it looks great using the PS4 ver on PS5, would upgrade if there's some story DLC, but it seems only challenge stuff etc?

The horde mode survival thing could be fun.

Yeah i'm sure some players would enjoy this stuff but no for me, anyway i hope it will sell some to make Days Gone 2. :)

Edit: ok when they say Broken Road DLC, they mean all the stuff above just for PC, got it.

Off the top of my head, here's a list of games that are either 1080p or 30 fps when played on PS5, i.e. they never received anything beyond a PS4 Pro patch:
  • Alienation
  • Bloodborne
  • Concrete Genie
  • Dead Nation (actually broken on PS5)
  • Destiny 1
  • God of War III Remastered
  • Gravity Rush Remastered
  • Gravity Rush 2
  • Killzone Shadow Fall
  • Last Guardian
  • Matterfall
  • Shadow of the Colossus
  • The Order 1886
  • Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
Any of these would warrant an upgrade more than Days Gone, which already runs at high res and 60 fps.
Detroit, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls.

The one thing this game finally gets and deserves is some proper trigger and vibration effects with the controller. They’re sorely lacking in the OG. Haptics will make it fucking glorious.

Let’s see how this reviews in 2025 when the pendulum is in full swing. Trashed in 2019 every which way because of white male syndrome when it was anything but that.

Amazing amazing game. Great acting. Great writing. Great soundtrack. Top 15 for me for sure.

hilarious to see a company be so out of touch with their user base. Management during PS4 time could do no wrong, this new management seems to only do wrong.

  • Alienation
    • How did this sell? How busy is Housemarque with Saros? They haven't even gone back to give Returnal a PS5 Pro patch.
  • Bloodborne
    • How busy is FromSoftware?
  • Concrete Genie
    • Studio no longer exists
  • Dead Nation (actually broken on PS5)
    • How did this sell? How busy is Housemarque with Saros? They haven't even gone back to give Returnal a PS5 Pro patch.
  • Destiny 1
    • Why would Bungie go back to Destiny 1?
  • God of War III Remastered
    • They're probably redoing the entire Greek Saga
  • Gravity Rush Remastered
    • Studio longer exists
  • Gravity Rush 2
    • Studio no longer exists
  • Killzone Shadow Fall
    • How did this sell compared to Horizon?
  • Last Guardian
    • Studio no longer with Sony
  • Matterfall
    • How did this sell? How busy is Housemarque with Saros? They haven't even gone back to give Returnal a PS5 Pro patch.
  • Shadow of the Colossus
    • Original Studio no longer with Sony and already remastered
  • The Order 1886
    • Studio no longer exists
  • Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
    • Naughty Dog is way too busy for that and these games need way more work
So your points boil down to essentially:
  • "Studio X is busy."
    • Doesn't matter. We're talking about resolution or FPS enhancements, not doing complete remastering of a game. That's something that can be handled by a tiny team at a support studio.
  • "Studio X no longer exists or isn't with Sony."
    • Doesn't matter as long as the source code is available and is owned by Sony.
    • Specifically for SOTC, the PS4 remake runs at 1080p60 in its performance mode, while fidelity is something like 1440p30. Jailbroken PS5s can run it at 1440p60 using a patch, so it's not a power issue.
  • "Game X didn't sell."
    • I do not care. Again, we're not talking about major ground up remasters here.

Detroit, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls.
I didn't know how the rights on those worked. I could have sworn that Quantic Dream owned them now, but could be wrong.

The creative director of Days Gone, John Garvin certainly wouldn't agree with you there. Whatever happened, he's walked away blaming Sony and being very ouspoken.
John Garvin is a talentless hack. Days Gone spent years and years in development, yet still somehow released in a bad state. I bet Sony was just happy to be get it over with.
