Days Gone Remastered Announcement likely soon

Remember: there are people still defending Sony's first-party output this gen.
Those people cape for Sony like its their God and they come after you like white on rice if you ever criticize anything Sony does. Its some of the weirdest behavior I have ever seen.

Anyways man, I got this on a steam sale for like 12$. Not a fan of what Sony did with this game, the studio, and their employees Garvin and Ross but the game looks cool AF and is probably one of the last games made by Sony that isn't full of far-left politics so I'll give it a go.

If the were to remaster this I would hope they greatly expand the horde sizes. With modern SSD I think we could have some real fun with that.

That's what I wanted from a sequel. Just way bigger hordes. The weapons and sound design for the weapons are some of the best ever imo. Everything is so punchy.

For me the biggest thing is that it means they don't see the franchise as being dead, it's likely we will end up with a sequel (if it's not already in development).

So to that I say:

Agreed.

I don't like Days Gone enough to buy a remaster as that was a easy once over for me (I feel it dragged on a bit)

I feel if Sony felt the IP was dead, they would never port it to PC, try to get a movie done, do a remaster of it etc.

I just think Sony Bend is just making a New IP, not that Days Gone 2 will never happen

Insomniac did Resistance Fall Of Man and still did Ratchet and then did Resistance 2, so a team doing something else after isn't some automatic no, merely that some sequels are not back to back and that is ok.

I think Days Gone (like 1886) has a good foundation of something that can be explored more, but I also feel they should only consider a sequel if they really, REALLY have something worth while to provide in the sequel.

Like maybe camping outdoors (I never got that you couldn't do this as he already goes those station things, would just make sense to allow the character to board up some house anywhere or something lol)

a deeper resource system, larger vehicle selection, ability to go prone, destroy limbs like in The Last Of Us 2, better AI....like in the Last Of Us 2 lol

Lots can be done with a sequel, but I'd rather they do the new IP and revisit the series at a later date when they have some great ideas.
These remasters coming out don't have any influence on new games releasing. Sony has specific studios for these (Nixxes).

In fact, studios like Nixxes have been releasing a lot more work since their Sony acquisition. It's also easy money for anyone that wants to play these games.

I don't see why Sony updating their games is a bad thing. If these releases were clashing with the original studios making new work, i would understand...but not like this.

Literally every single studio at Sony is making new games as we speak.

That said i'm still convinced your post is just some copy pasta of something i missed cause you can't be serious lmao.

Agreed, but I feel people who usually think like the actual team is making a remaster cause they ran out of ideas generally don't even know much about game development lol

Someone out there thinks Grove Street Games is making GTAVI take longer to come out lol

sad.

I don't even get how anyone can be that uneducated about their own hobby, as I find those who love books or film rarely get caught up in any of that btw, gamers on the other hand....its like they don't actually know anything actually about the industry itself, thats like someone who loves film seeing a Cape Fear put in 8K and saying some weird shit like "WOW, I guess they ran out of ideas"

As if they don't actually know a restoration isn't them literally doing the film again lol

So I love gaming, but holy shit, there is a wild gap in terms of gamers not actually being even slightly educated on the game development process.

Remastering games from the PS4, which are also available to purchase and play on the PS5, seems like a real waste of resources.

Sony have really dropped the ball this generation.

I played through the full game on a base PS4 so I don't really know at this point, but was that last 1/4 of the game fixed? The game just ran worse and worse the longer you went on and the FPS and shit really tanked once you got to the military encampment and that entire section of the game. I feel like a remaster could really make that section shine.

The entire game went to shit after you get to the military camp. The performance is just the cheery at the top of the shitsunday. And I've played it on PC.

It's a great game... until you get there and

Are you telling me there's hope for a sequel?
A 'remaster' would cut into sales of any sequel.
Of course, I understand that we players are pissed off by it, and there is a reason for it. But the developers don't care about it, they always choose the path that is faster, and most importantly cheaper.
Unreal's great logo is becoming irreversibly tied to a ton of subpar games. It's impossible to stay relevant with that kind of branding strategy.

Agree, although "updating" legacy PlayStation games to add full DualSense functionality is something that needs to be done.
Every PlayStation game (PS1/PS2/PS4) needs to be updated to take full advantage of DualSense feedback, TouchPad and other button layout changes.
Sony baking affordable PS2/PS1 HW into the next x86 PS console will pave the way for easily adding thousands of PS Exclusives to the PSN catalog.
If Nintendo follows suit by baking inexpensive legacy HW (SNES) into a new console the flood of PlayStation and Nintendo exclusives will be enough to force Xbox out of the HW business.
Great games will always be great games and Xbox doesn't have a killer back catalog to compete with the two Japanese giants.

Days Gone is one of the few games using UE4 that is not plagued with stutters from shader compilation and asset streaming.
I can only hope this remake is done by a competent studio, or it will be a downgrade.
