This "Jenious" needs to stand and wait in line, Ninja Theory already said so last year.
Gotta love those 3rd person, cinematic, narrative driven, over the shoulder action games. They really evolved after they were acquired and made huge strides from the first game.

On consoles this will probably sit near or at the top graphically.
Overall...nope, the usual hardware limitations, specifically the lighting, are pretty clearly visible in the gameplay scenes, and we`re basically looking at empty vistas 90% of the time, so....

Large open landscapes/vista vs densely packed relatively smaller cities with lots of polygons and an advanced AI lol, not even a comparison, GTA 6 is going to crush everything in terms of graphics, rendering, AI and gameplay systems.

heck, Ubisoft games are often gorgeous and run/optmized relatively well than most big ass titles, sure old, cliched gameplay systems but I had more fun playing almost any Ubisoft game than DS.

Not to discount DS2, it does have staggeringly good cinematography and music but where is the fucking gameplay??!!

I hate when people saying this. You obviously havent played the first one or just barely. It has gameplay and a pretty deep one too. I feel sorry for people who cant get into or cant appreciate a game like this

I voted no for several reasons:

- It doesnt have the asset quality of HB2 even if the lighting is almost there.
- GTA6 was doing a lot more with NPCs and well, a lot more in general
- Forests in Wukong and Avatar look slightly better.

I do think it's industry leading in several areas:
- Cinematography
- Character Designs
- Lighting
- Water
- Cutscene Direction
- Setpieces

I think a lot of games this gen, with maybe Hellblade 2 being the sole exception, kind of phone in cutscenes. Outlaws had terrible looking cutscenes. Avatar had idiotic first person cutscenes. Wukong had little to no cutscenes. SH2 had decent cutscenes but character models outside of James and the little girl were trash. This is just so far ahead of everything right now that even hollywood directors are looking at this wondering just wtf they are seeing. Kojima created a fantastic playground with the first game, and now he's going balls out with his imagination fully unlocked.

Nobody that's spent 1500$+ on a piece of hardware is gonna admit a game on a 400$ box is outdoing it...its like asking a rival team who's better lol the answer to this question is obvious in the replies

There is more interesting gameplay in DS than in most story driven cinematic AAA games. A game like Star Wars Fallen Order is a shallow shooter on rails compared to DS1. Don't let the numerous cutscenes deceive you.

I have played it when it was given free, stopped at around 10 hour mark. The gameplay simply didn't do it for me. The market is diverse, let people enjoy what they want, no need to get so defensive lol, this game isn't for me and likewise there are or will be many games that are not for you.

Right here darling:
? What do you mean? Hellblade 2 looks great but I didn't enjoy the gameplay. What's wrong?

If you think I do Xbox better/PS bad or vice versa, lol no. I don't care, I play on PC most of them and I like good gameplay driven games. That's all. Good Sony game? amazing! Good MS game? Amazing! I just want to play games that I like, not defend or shit on a publisher like lol who tf has time for this?

I don't get why gamers get so defensive on some subjective opinion. There are so many new cool games coming out and I'm overjoyed that many will find a game which they will love. Some of you will love DS2, some of you will like it a lot, some of us won't and that's fine because there are many games for the many gamers that love this extremely creative hobby.

I have a 4090 and I'm saying it: this trailer is looking incredible. Not only from a technical standpoint, but as others have pointed out it shines in its cinematography, design, and overall presentation.

Is it perfect? Of course not, no game is. But I'm glad to see the Decima Engine evolving this well, we need more capable engine (other than the terrible UE5) in the industry. I can see clothes and overall physics are also greatly improved, it looks very nice.
But at this point (and in my opinion) claiming "this game is the best looking one" is a bit silly, as we are entering an era were the biggest difference is the art direction. Some will prefer Hellblade II, some (like me) will say RDRII is still king, other will say Avatar or that Last of Us 2/Horizon 2 are still untouched.

Here's the thing. This thread is purely about graphics. Yet you came in here to talk about "muh gameplay". Considering you didn't do the same thing in a graphics thread for Hellblade, that's quite telling in itself.

By the way, you can have whatever opinion you want about the gameplay, it's widely appreciated that the gameplay in death stranding isn't for everyone and is somewhat of an acquired taste. However, allow me to point you to a thread that would be more appropriate for such a discussion:

What's "defensive" is the fact that this thread caught your attention more and you opted to post what you did in this thread instead of that one.

If you played DS1, you will to bow to KojiPro Studios. They can do what GG don't.

Sure it will not have the latest UE5 whizz jazz, but the good enough engine + crazy animations + crazy aesthetics art. DS2 is the whole complete next gen visuals.

The coping the seething, the pure panic in the posts, inject it, its my heroin it sustains me...

Of course it is, its the next big game on Decima, Forbidden West DLC was a graphical powerhouse that simply blasts everything away into oblivion whether you like it or not.

This is magnitudes better than most games out there and the only ones that come close are UE5 slop that barely runs or Raytraced to the eyeballs but runs at 19fps.

I dont think there is any RT is there?

Phenomenal and will make my pro purr.

That's just fanboy mentality. For one, I think it's the most impressive game shown so far. For two, it's not the $400 box outdoing anything. It's Kojima Productions with a lot of time and a huge budget. For three, we all know it's coming to PC later on.

The biggest hurdle for visuals at the moment isn't hardware, it's time and money. Instead of turning this into platform wars, people should look at how a talented studio can leverage a console with proper budget, time, and talent. The argument that the current consoles are too underpowered to deliver next-gen visuals kind of dies with that game and simply proves that we haven't exactly hit a tech bottleneck, but a money/time one.

We should celebrate how those graphics are being done on a console with mid-tier hardware from 2020 rather than going "hur hur, my console has better graphics than your PC." We should also marvel at the gulf between a top-tier studio who knows how to use tech like Kojima Productions and one that is mediocre at it like the team that developed Monster Hunter. And before anyone starts crying about gameplay, I'm strictly talking about graphics/visuals here.

I'm excited to see screenshots and such when the game launches. The first one was incredibly boring so I don't plan on playing this one, but looks visually stunning. The aesthetic of this universe I love.

I always belived the marked sentence. Capitalism is really pushing everyone to change and buy something new with the lies of "this product is not enough". When I look PS1-2-3-4 games or hell, even Vita games, I see games made with love, care and time. But now it is always bugged, pushed games. And the culprit is nearly always the same: Not powerful machine. I definitely hate this.

I just recently beat the first game and thought it still looks good. But when your maps are lifeless, you can push visuals a little further. Visuals were never the issue I had with the game. Not even gameplay. It was the retarded 6 hour ending that really killed it for me. I sure hope Kojima found a way to edit himself.

I'll rent the game though.

Mostly agree, but I actually thought black myth's cutscenes were very impressive and they were quite plentiful, especially for the genre.

Problem with having a mute protagonist is that there cant be many cutscenes. They did introduce several characters mid way through the game, but its still probably 30 minutes of cutscenes total. They were mostly good looking but this is a cut above.

Its a shame because the original monkey in the intro is super cocky and wouldve been a great protagonist to build an action adventure game around, but they went with the souls design instead of GOW for some reason.

not surprising since other decima engine games excel in that aspect

Lmao not in a year that include gta6.

Rdr2\tlou2 already massacre the animations of ds1, a lot of them are goofy and weightless.

I don't expect jap devs to beat us devs when it comes to heavy, realistic animations anytime soon.

Looks stunning! So... expectations for the pro:
  1. The trailer's fidelity at 60 fps
  2. All the close up hair aliasing completely fixed with their magic pro upscaling tech
  3. LoD pushed out just a little more to make poppabk poppabk happy
Basically all the little improvements GG did for HFW.

That's also comparing a high end PC 4090 vs what was captured on a regular PS5

The fact DS2 was captured on a non pro PS5 kind of blows my mind
Some of it is technology, they do have talented developers, but there is a lot of artist wizardry there. Think GoT running smoothly on base PS4 and looking as good as it did 🤩.

I just need it running at 60FPS...This could deffo make me grab a pro. Depends on ETAs for the PC version and if theres a LTD edition pro console
