Jeff founded giantbomb and made a shit ton of money when he sold it. You cant compare that to this guy. To go at it alone you need to stand out from the rest, or have a legacy fan base that will follow you whenever you go. Colin Moriarty is a good example. Cofounded Kinda Funny and that did good. After he was pushed out he did his own thing that now is even bigger than KF. With that said.

These guys been earning solid six figure salaries for like 20-30+ years, and most of them were able to buy homes in the most expensive cities on the planet before the values skyrocketed to the Mars. They have like a million in positive equity minimum, and their retirement accounts have 25x'ed since they started paying in. Gerstmann specifically sold companies and probably has a net worth between $5 - 10 million at least. They're fucking off to mid size towns and living like kings off dividends, the peanuts you monkeys donate on Patreon is just play money, or setting up a Great Grandkids trust fund.

I will await to judge this venture based entirely on how he conducts himself in his Phil Spencer interview. I'd like him to go all in without worrying about any future 'access' and ask the kind of questions that people actually want to hear answered, pushing back if he responds with his marketing double-speak. Let's wait and see how it goes.

In a way it would be genius if this is where Phil just went full nuclear and declared everything coming to every platform. It would be interesting to see Destin try and compute the implications of his channel having such a massive scoop and his dreams of Xbox console dominance being shattered simultaneously.

You're right, I had no idea who this was until I opened the thread and saw his face. I have disliked this guy forever. But I had no idea what his name was, in fact reading the name in the title I thought it was that other guy, Damon, I think his name is. He's been with IGN for a long time as well.
