As a teaser, this is fine - it's only meant to literally tease, but I can understand why some people are super-negative given how burnt they felt from D1.

I'm in all the way, though I'm going to just preorder a digital copy + expansion pass when it goes live. No way I want to have a disc for this bad boy, and even if it's rough/uneven at launch I'm confident the game will improve over time, just as D1 did. I have an embarrassing amount of time in Destiny on PS3, and then I restarted from scratch on XB1 in time for Rise of Iron.

Destiny 2 could be a pile of flaming ass ... but I need to know for myself. I really got a lot out of Destiny (specifically Taken King and RoI), so I'm optimistic that Luke Smith will guide the game in continually better directions.

The Deadpool- Cayde comparisons has to go down as the most idiotic hot-take yet. Cayde was like this in TTK (2015) Deadpool came out a year later.

Oh, and because ONE character shows some levity doesn't mean Destiny is now Comedy.

FUCKING HELL...

Welcome to gaming side.

If you buy on the PSN Store, they don't charge your card right away for this right? We won't be charged until release day, correct?

yes Deadpool was invented in 2015

Nah, I believe that was Bungie shoving in personality into a character who was for the most part as shallow as the rest of the game before Taken King, because lord knows the game needed it. You're selling this way too much as character development.

So you're saying it's coincidence that Lance Reddick, known for playing intensely serious characters, voices intensely serious Commander Zavala. Gina Torres, known for playing relatively short spoken, wise and strong characters, plays the relatively short spoken but wise/knowledgable Ikora Rey. Nathan Fillion, known for playing sarcastic/snarky good guys who break the rules plays exactly that in Cayde-6. Shohreh Aghdashloo (Mystical/Religious) and Peter Stormare (Creepy/Dark) likewise play characters they're known for portraying the archtype of.

There's definitely some stunt casting for the sake of names (Dinklage is the biggest offender) but largely Bungie had ideas for who these characters would be when they cast this game. The story of D1 getting shredded and thrown back together hastily and messily is the reason why these things weren't so prominent initially. But this isn't some stark change in characterization. They've developed Cayde over time. Eris too. Ikora has shown more personality in the Strike exchanges as well.

This is like the most pre-orderable thing ever. If you don't think people who played 1000+ hours on a game shouldn't pre-order the sequel then you just don't believe in pre-ordering. Which admittedly I kind of don't, I'll 'pre-order' to get beta keys on amazon then cancel. And I'll 'pre-order' again a few days before launch so I can pre-load the damn thing.

Agree with all.

Previous preorders have come with guns and such.

Ah yeah, I forgot that I have Iron Gjally sitting in my inventory from Pre-ordering... I'll pass on that version. I pre-ordered the digital deluxe for TKK and used the emote a few times at most. Glad I can save $10 by doing without!

I'm sure "pre-ordering" the game digitally on any platform will also grant you access to the Beta. So, if you're sure you'll be getting it why not just skip the Amazon step and pre-order it digitally on the platform of your choice?

I'm intrigued for sure. I enjoyed the first, but got bored only to return to TTK. I would've kept playing except my buddies left, and I didn't enjoy it enough to play solo. Not quite to the level of pre-order, but this is probably now my most sought after game of 2017, unless RDR 2 actually lands in 2017.

You can't cancel though and you are charged immediately. Do not pre-order from the PlayStation Store. Pre-order from Amazon for a beta code, cancel it, then wait for reviews.

Go back and play the opening missions of TTK where Cayde talks about having stashes everywhere. Listen to the strikes where he invades on Ikora's mission briefings. Read up on his Grimoire cards.

He was more dour but always had the dark humor. As Guardians have made progress, his dourness has changed to snarkiness. And with his mood changing over time, he's been a more impactful leader. The development for his character type is damn near a trope. Cayde is pretty much Malcolm Reynolds of Firefly in a robot body.

....

The point is cayde didnt say "go take down orville! Or is it omar..Oryx?...ANYWAY DO IT FOR THE LOOT!"

He called them stashes as well. Not "loot". Hes going for that lol funny random thing
That isnt working because apparently hes deadpool now. Im certainly not the only one who noticed.

fingers crossed for more open worlds with actual side-quests and characters to find and talk to.

Overall hoping for Destiny to be more of an rpg then just an action game this game. The shooting mechanics were fine but the first one left a LOT to be desired when it came to it's overall world design/structure and story elements.

No charged right away.

Yikes. Thanks. Wow. Not so sure about that then. Won't buy until closer to release then(or closer to the beta). I know Amazon won't charge for their pre-orders until they ship.

Not pulling the trigger until a solid beta date is revealed. Buying two copies of this and don't have $200 to spare right now.

I don't necessarily believe in "never preorder", but in Destiny's case, a game well-known for over-promising and under-delivering (and that's putting it in a way only a Destiny fan would), having just a *bit* more to go on than "there's loot!" would have been nice. Confidence in Destiny 2's case means coming out swinging, and I don't think this reveal (which revealed not much) nailed that.

Confidence is not a handbag.

I've never played Destiny outside of a bit of the first demo and all I can get from the two trailers is that Destiny 2 is looking to ape the comedic styles of Borderlands, Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. I'm not being shown a game that takes itself seriously as a space opera/sci-fi so a comedy is what I'll see it as. It wasn't particularly funny to me at all so if this is the tone Destiny 2 is taking then I'm skeptical at best.

Vanilla destiny was so shit it turned me off the whole thing. Hopefuly everything os better now
After feeling like I was sold snake oil with the first game, I'm gonna need more than a mediocre CGI trailer to get me excited. I'm going to keep an open mind about this game, but they have a lot to prove.

I think that's what a lot of those who are complaining about people being too negative don't get. Destiny 1 kinda crushed a lot of people's hopes. There is literally content in the reveal trailer of Destiny 1 that is still not in the game.

They need a lot more than just a mediocre CG trailer to get people back into the game.

Trailer very much aimed for the fans, and I liked it.

But it was kinda weak when it came to hype it up, don't you guys think? Felt like a trailer for another expansion and not for a huge sequel.

That's one of my worries, is that this will just feel like a Cabal-focused expansion until we shell out money for more DLC, rather than a full sequel. I'll reserve judgment till I see more, but Bungie doesn't leave much room for optimism

Pretty sure there was a TTK line where he straight up said "..There will be loot for everyone on the Dreadnaught". He's always been about treasure hunting and gettin the good stuff.

He's been talking like this for awhile.

Hmmm, spent most time on D1 with XB1...but now that it's coming out for PC....may need to switch it up.

Or maybe double dip? Decisions decisions, will have to see how many friends will be playing on each platform. Won't pre-order till I see some gameplay though.

Okay now I'm confused on which version to get, I was sure PS4 was gonna have the biggest playerbase, but kb+m is hard to pass up and PC could potentially overtake the PS4 playerbase. This will be a crucial decision.

What a lame trailer. Can't stand deadpool cayde. Is this supposed to be borderlands 3?
This trailer was made for babies lolol

Joking. I couldn't contain myself and pre-ordered the game already. Day fucking 0.

Little confused, what's the difference between digital deluxe and game+season pass on psn? Seems like the digital deluxe comes with expansion pass as well so it kinda makes the other version useless.

Edit-nevermind just saw deluxe comes with a couple extra goodies for an extra $10.

For one, my platform is very much in the air. Probably PC or Xbox. I might not be sure until launch. And as I said I don't really believe in pre-orders. I'm not going to lock myself into a purchase if I don't need to. My point was that if you *do* believe in pre-orders, then it's a no-brainer so far as that goes.

This thread seems like the weirdest place to go to war over the concept of pre-orders though. Of course Destiny fans are going to pre-order Destiny 2. Duh.

Trailer was fine, but holding off on getting excited until we start seeing gameplay.

I played a lot of Destiny and mostly enjoyed my time with it, but there's a metric fuckton of things that need to be overhauled and reworked for me to want to come back.

I'm with you. Shame more aren't. Destiny burned a fair number of us bad on day one. Hell, Destiny right now, as of today is still almost less than the originally promised lol.

Excited but need to see and hear lots more.

I would wait until the gameplay reveal before deciding.

That said, at some point, the amount of people playing becomes irrelevant. For example, is it going to be that much of a difference for you if 500k people are playing on one system and 350k on the other?

FUCKING HELL...

It might just be the one character. But it's the one and only character who been very prominently feature in both the teaser and trailer.

It could turn out not to be as comedy focused as these two video's are. But so far all we have to base this on is what Bungie shows us. And what they've shown us is Cayde-6.

Easy drive byes. Just ignore them. The trailer captured their disparate personalities perfectly. I swear it's like some of the commenters haven't played the game before. I'm excited for sure, preordered all three LEs.

I'm just giving you shit because you're judging a game over a bloody CG trailer.

Why not wait and see any gameplay videos that will be revealed later on before you make any judgements?

This is the first step in very long and very meticulously planned PR roadmap, if they are happy to put this out as an indication of what Destiny 2 is going to be like I am perfectly happy to judge it as such.

The best case scenario I can think of for this trailer is that they wanted to ape the live action trailers they put out for vanilla and TTK which had the same tone while being almost nothing like the actual game.
