This post makes zero sense.
This post makes zero sense.
Then I guess the gameplay show off in may should be something you should watch. Personally I think you're reaching with Cayde saying "loot" that the gameplay isn't a focus for them.Yes I understand that, I get that they are tossing it all out. That's great IMO.
But to me it is so cynical that in their second "trailer", they have to just openly state: HEY GUYS THERE'S GOING TO BE A TON OF THINGS TO CHASE!
It reads to me, as someone who was fulfilled by the satisfaction of improving his skills and not his numbers, that they are further going to move in the RPG direction and not in the FPS one.
To me, the gameplay of Destiny should be what does the selling, not the promise of a steady flow of trinkets. Kind of lame.
And yes of course I know about the infamous loot cave. While all of my friends were standing and shooting into a cave for hours on end, I was, you know, actually playing the game. Overtime, to me, the game became less and less about playing for they joy of play, and instead became about playing to "make progress". And when that really came to a head in the PvP with the release of TTK, I checked out because it was extremely insulting to my time as a player, and I say that as someone who had played since the closed Alpha.
So yes, it's clear that I am not their target audience. That's fine, but I can't help but feel disappointed.
Anything more on this?

Was interested, but I read on GS that they have the same one year exclusive deal. If I were to buy the game it would be Xbone since that's where more of my friends are, can't support this one year exclusive horse shit.

I don't agree at all. The game will do really well on PC.If it isn't at least 60FPS on PC, it's DOA. Period.
How was the end game flaming dumpster? when it was easily the best part of the whole game.Day 20 if I hear their endgame isn't a flaming dumpster as it was in Destiny 1 and every expansion.

The project wasn't 'rebooted', it was just described that way. It's not like they just started from the ground up again. Its more like, they restructured what the game would be whilst using assets & tools that they'd been building anyway. That could mean certain priorities take a back burner, while other things became a primary focus. Could also mean that some part of the campaign could've been seriously restructured.
I will say this from the tidbits i've heard from colleagues there - they are very, very confident with what they've spent nearly 3 years building, which is a far cry from where they were in the 3 months leading up to the Destiny 1 launch.
Cayde, man of the people, understands what we actually care about.
Ikora Rey and Commander Zavala don't and never will, because of their trash classes.
Hunters stay winning.
If it isn't at least 60FPS on PC, it's DOA. Period.
1. The opinion of people that played the game in 2014 and still post shit like this are worth less than nothing
Good shit man. Your post was masterful too.
Thank you, thank you
Any inclinations on what frame-rate will be on console this time around? 👀Worldwide? Absolutely. But we have NA sales - the moment you account for bundles in NA NPDs, you get a clear picture of just where it was. Perhaps lopsided isn't accurate to describe it for NA, but it was a pretty healthy lead.
Everything i've ever heard about playerbase breakdowns whenever I enquired backed up what sales looked like. There was a closer spread when it came to hardcore player bases, or players who pursued end-game activities, when comparing the two platforms though. So, while PS4 still had a lead in numbers, you'd see the hardcore player base being not too far behind despite the lead in sales they had. But that makes sense - way more casual gamers purchased a PS4, and are likely buying Destiny on PS4. The hardcore demographic is probably far closer between than two platforms in big regions like NA & UK.
Gah, I'm so excited.
At this point, if they announce it has in-game LFG for Raids and matchmaking for everything else (everything), it could be my game of the gen.
Can hunters float around and shoot lightning? And self res when things get tough? I think not.
If there's no matchmaking for story and nightfalls then I will riot in the streets. In the streets!

Meanwhile I'll just make an LFG post and play
Has anyone ever ordered a Ghost or similar merchandise for your office? I was thinking of getting a 3-D printed Ghost for my desk.

I don't agree at all. The game will do really well on PC.
Aside from the obvious argument to be had with Raids, there is not a single logical argument against optional matchmaking in every other activity.
I was giving his post a bit of good-natured ribbing.
Based on his light-hearted response I think he understood my tone a bit better than you.

Also playing the game is subjective. It's not only one thing or the other. It means something different to anyone in Destiny. Finding loot is playing the game.
I had logged more hours than I care to admit and you're probably in the same boat. I respect the game for how well it pulled off it's formula and in my opinion, The Vault of Glass is a top 5 experience over the past 10 years of gaming. It was so novel and fun with a team.
Destiny players know they'll be chasing loot like MMO players know they'll be grinding experience points and NBA2K players know they'll be grinding for skill points. It's just part of the experience.
Yeah but if your friends buy it anyway then what? Was interested, but I read on GS that they have the same one year exclusive deal. If I were to buy the game it would be Xbone since that's where more of my friends are, can't support this one year exclusive horse shit.

Agreed. There's no reason to exclude matchmaking from NF and COE. The same goes for those time-limited story missions of exotic quests.
There's dissonance between the subject matter and the behaviour of some of the characters that simply doesn't jive with fans, myself included. It seems to me that the game would benefit from 'mature' storytelling as opposed to this bro shit we have with Cayde. I just hope that what we've seen so far isn't indicative of the direction for D2 and is a ploy to get the bro's on board. It's a tongue in cheek joke from the sarcastic joker NPC that I intentionally breaks the 4th wall.

I enjoyed the PvE content, but what killed me and my fun is that all of my friends were way more hellbent on running the raids over and over, ad naseum, for the "sick loot brah" than playing the PvP with me. For reference on my Crucible skill, I went to the Lighthouse repeatedly, every week until TTK. I liked that they tossed us competitive players a bone with that, but damn is it disheartening for a person like myself when your friends want to play out of compulsion for collection, rather than good times with buds.
What dissonance. This is literally cayde-6 SchtickThere's dissonance between the subject matter and the behaviour of some of the characters that simply doesn't jive with fans, myself included. Just watched the "trailer". Absolutely awful. What was the point of that? It kind of seemed like it was trying to be funny, but it wasn't. It didn't really tell you much about the game. It wasn't clear at all, was the part about the gear being destroyed supposed to be like an in game explanation or was it a message to the audience or both? Why bother with this nonsense.
People play raids for the exact same reason you played Crucible; to have fun with their friends. People also play Trials of Osiris for loot, and strive for Lighthouse for bragging rights. Potato, potaeto.

Yeah well we have a bow and a fancy cape. The others have a skirt or a dirty rag.Can hunters float around and shoot lightning? And self res when things get tough? I think not.
