You can run the PS4 game released 6 years ago on a PS5 and it's going to be basically the same game. For PS5 users it's only a re/release or bundle that they release to milk a bit more the effort they made for the PC port. It isn't a new PS5 game. PS5 users have Uncharted 4 in the PS Plus Game Collection, and Lost Legacy dirt cheap.
The real game is an Uncharteed 4 + Uncharted Lost Legacy bundled with some minor tweaks for PS5 and PC. You're talking about a fake 4chan rumor that was talking about a bundle with almost all Uncharted games for PC that never existed.

You don't need day and date releases to do that, all Sony games top steam charts as soon as they're released on PC anyway.

It's never going to happen right up until it does. Sony's just slow-walking their fanbase towards exactly that situation. There's just too much extra money compared to putting it out years later when the price will have to be lower and sales-conversion will be lower also. You just can't beat the day1 marketing hype cycle for sales. By the end of this console gen Sony will be 100% on board with day1 on PC releases.

God of War is a 3 year old game and it’s almost topping the charts at a high price for PC gaming.
Seems to be doing just fine this way. And if PC players want to play day one guess where they have to play it.

Doubt it. Even Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy are going to PS5 before PC for some reason.

They will once the number crunchers prove to them that worries over not having a capable enough PC to run a Sony game someone really wants to play, which will be the majority, is actually more likely to quickly push them towards getting a Playstation console.
They think this may endanger their console sales, but in truth it's the opposite. Releasing on PC is the best advertisement for Playstation console hardware. They will make more money from double dippers And doing what they are doing now. Releasing games 2-4+ years after initial release on a Playstation console.
If they release day 1 on PC, alot of people will just not buy a Playstation console anymore. For example my brother won’t need to buy a Playstation anymore and will just buy his Playstation games on a PC. He has both a PS5 and PC atm, but why would he need a Playstation console if the games release day 1 on PC?
So that will be 1 type of loss for Sony.
2nd Sony will lose a certain % to the middleman called Steam. Instead of that 1st Party money going straight to Sony via PSN.
And 3rd some people will migrate to PC, lets say 10-20% of the Playstation console owners like myself who don’t currently have a PC, will just buy a PC. All the 3rd party games are cheaper, so I might aswell save money in the long run ( even though I probably won‘t lol ). Ive spent thousands since the PS3 on PSN games and sales.
This will mean, 10-20% less 3rd party and 1st party games bought on PSN which is currently there biggest money maker for Sony.
They are currently making loads of money, why rock the boat thats helped them for decades. Esepcailly since they have made no indications that they will release on PC day 1.

Something like that is still long way off if it ever does happen imo. Their games will always have an exclusivity period on their own console first. A 1 year delay before a PC release is probably what will happen at best.
If they really want success on pc they need a consistent strategy. Something like first party games will go to pc 2 years after launch. If they just do random releases they leave people in limbo.
The only way I see them doing day and date would be some pc tie in to psn. Maybe if you subscribe to psn you get the game on pc at launch. They won’t you locked into their ecosystem.

It was briefly #2 the day pre-orders went up.. it's like #60 today (I lost count, got bored)
Don't get me wrong.. it'll do fine.. but it would ACTUALLY "top the carts" if it was a day and date release... Steam charts are based on the current day, so the top sellers of say, a "month" would be at the top, most of that month.
It probably got in the 5 figures in Pre-order numbers though, maybe 6 figures.. and it has months to rack more up, and the release date marketing push... I'm sure it'll be there best selling PC release but I'd wait for actual numbers before talking about "charts."
But today, Fallout 76 sold more copies... in fact, it's like 20 spots up the "chat" from it lol
We really don't know what Sony will do in the future.. they clearly are heading in a "direction" though... more and more PC releases... whether that becomes releases closer to console launch, is the question.
Also, don't be shocked to see some Day 1 or very near Day 1 PC releases for MP/GAAS titles.

Let's face it: Microsoft saw an oportunity and seized it with GamePass. They're making a shit-load of money through subscriptions, because they saw how well the subscription-service model works (for them and for other companies as well). Sony is watching this market being developed and they want in too (remember: Sony's first and foremost responsibility is towards their shareholders, NOT their users). Even Nintendo began dipping their toes into this new revenue stream, although VERY timidly.
As another user said before, Sony may or may not release their PS Studios games on PC day-1, but you can bet they'll try and implement a "Sony gamepass" of their own linked to PSN accounts to make even more money.

Who cares if other platforms get some first party games right away. It's not like they arent releasing it on their console. It's still there day one. And it's PC were talking about. Not direct competing Nintendo or MS consoles.
For all the MS games that do Xbox and PC day one, I have never thought playing some Gears or Forza.... "Oh noes. I'm getting teary eyed some PC guy in Algeria is playing it the same time as me". Who cares.
I wonder if they feel the same insecurity buying a DVD, BR or audio system knowing each system plays every music or movie just the same.

Finally someone sees the flaw in what Sony is doing to it's user base. I completely agree with your logical breakdown.
Most people on here could care less about Sony's platform it could go the way of Sega's Dreamcast and are only worried about what games getting pulled over to PC. Whether the sell good or not.
There are several ways Sony can handle putting some games on PC without alienating/bifurcating it's 1st party player base.
You're right there will be people that move to PC if they know they can get all the Playstation exclusives on that platform. Which will hurt Sony's revenue and attach rate. At the end of the day Sony will money way more money from someone buying a Playstation 4 or 5 investing in the psstore then someone buying single game on PC. This is a fact.

Sony absolutely is not worried about "alienating" thier "1st party player base"... The outspoken few who threaten boycott and harass employees aren't the people Sony give a single FUCK about. They see massive amounts of growth potential in markets where PC is the predominant platform.. and they are expanding in that direction, regardless of the cries of said fanboys.
You'd do well to learn and accept that. You're not in one single ounce of control. And the majority of the outspoken few... will quickly get over it.. just like Xbox fanboys did when their games started coming to PC. There's nowhere else to go besides that... Get over it and start supporting the company and not the plastic.

So they port old games to the pc with full price tag and that’s it . Of course I am not the expert on a random forum will know better . But it’s a clear move like this hurt the value of your IP to your royal hardcore gamers .

There bread and butter is selling games on there console, thats what they are.
They aren’t Ubisoft, EA or Sega.
Nintendo and Playstation are the leaders in the market. I personally don’t think its wise for them to go this direction.

They already have a Sony gamepass its called PSplus. We don’t know how successful gamepass is so far.
I mostly see on here or twitter/reddit is, “Ill play it on gamepass instead of buying it” which Im sure Sony doesnt want to do. They’d rather sell games which they are making a killer on

Of course it is... and there will ALWAYS be a MASSIVE market of console gamers who don't want PCs... and vice versa.
That is why it's not going to "hurt" Sony as much as fanboys think. They've saturated the console market and they know it. They HAVE to start reaching out into other market with their IP.
Sony will be looking for ways to lure PC gamers into their service platform PSN. Creating new service based games which do well on PC... which will augment their AAA first party game releases for a constant revenue stream from PC gamers.

I get that some people don’t want PC etc and Im one of them, I can only afford a PC that plays older games and indies, and games like Total war etc, but there will be a percentage that will migrate to PC if they start releasing day 1 on PC ( which I dont think will happen )
Like I said, only time will tell how beneficial it will. I doubt they will sell day 1 on PC.
But why not also release games on Nintendo Switch and Xbox the way they have done on Steam. 2-4+ years after initially releasing on Playstation

I think Sony will eventually do day one releases if they are really satisfied with their current and future release sales figures. I definitely wouldn’t recommend day one releases for the obvious reasons, but we’ll see what happens especially with this new leadership.

They care what the general internet convo is surrounding any given thing, and they know fanboys are the ones with the megaphones.. but this really is a cause only for the most hardcore fanboys.. and they aren't rallying the other fanboys behind it, let alone the general public.

That made me sort of chuckle, as I think it indicates that these releases "upset".. certain folks.. but they seemed to have moved on from caring, as it's pretty evident the outcry is more like an outwhimper.

Sony fanboys are all talk... and that's because they know they have nowhere else to go. They're TRYING to posture and threaten that they'll no longer support Sony... but Sony is much smarter than they are. They aren't running to Nintendo... They're not running to Microsoft...
They're going to buy the game... either for their PS5, or their PC. They're also a TINY miniscule factor in the overall business. That's why I said out of the outspoken ones... it'll only be a few of them who are actually dumb enough to be serious about it.

And yeah to your point.. fanboy or not.. if someone decides not to buy a PS5 because some games are coming to PC.. well then, they'll buy those games on PC. And they probably weren't using the Playstation platform for much other than exclusives anyways..
Oh no, Sony loses ~20% of that purchase from that person.. really it's even less than that, more like 15-18%, because normally Sony is paying credit card processing fees.
They also gain loads of sales from people who would have been giving Sony $0 without PC releases. They also might help Epic Games Store grow, and.. they own part of Epic, etc.,etc.
Not to mention all of the other things Sony cares about.. more eyeballs on IP that they sell TV Shows/Movies of for one.

It's foolish to outright deny the possibility of day one PC releases because they can try any sort of strategy at any time — whether it's the current leadership in-charge of it or new leadership. At the moment, their strategy is to release previously released games on PC and they might be testing the waters to see how their games perform sales wise and if they see more benefits to doing day one releases based on whatever metrics they are tracking, it's not unthinkable to say that they might consider it.
But they haven't done that yet and haven't suggested to the public that they will.

Jim Ryan interview was talking about sales not online outrage. I don’t think Sony reads twitter and forums to see reactions to their games going to PC. Sony as a business will be looking at tangible affects rather than forum chatter.

To all of a sudden change the status quo goes against what PlayStation platforms have been about. Don’t be confused why PlayStation fans are upset about first party games getting rid of the benefits they’ve always had. Those benefits are real.
I bet the reason why TLOU2 multiplayer is taking so long is because they’re making a PC version to be released same day as PS4 and PS5. Which will be fucking annoying if that’s the case. The moment all first party games are same day releases on PC that means extra development time and possibly lower quality games.
Developing for one hardware will always be the better outcome.

I think one day console and PC will be the same thing, we will look back at this time and think how crazy it was to buy very similar hardware just for a few exclusives.
Corollary to that. If I know all PS5 games will eventually make it to PC, and I already have a PC, I can be patient and wait. I mean, people already do that for timed exclusives.

Funny thing is Sony already released a day one PC game. That b-tier Predator Hunting Grounds game where they were publisher. They've already tested the waters a year and a half ago. Looks like it was a success, so it's time to forge ahead with first party games.

I mean if I wanted playstation games, I'd have a playstation. I wouldn't wait 6-12 months for a pc version. It's really not that much money if you already own a pc. As for graphics? Eh, that's like 5% of a game for me. I don't know why it's weighed so heavily. I wouldn't wait for pc because of graphics either. I say this as a predominant pc user too.

Thank GOD he is not working for playstation anymore. He did good with ps4 but playstation games need more exposure beyond PC. Next mobile should be the one getting the games. SOCs are getting powerful day by day. Time to port those ps3 games to mobile now. I mean look at GTA titles on android playstore. They sold millions of copies for fraction of price.
