Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster |OT| G - A - F in position, it's showtime gurlz!

Not sure how much I'm enjoying this. Not a fan of the updated soundtrack, the character faces are creepy as hell (Tidus LITERALLY looks like Chucky) and the voice acting/dialogue is much worse than I remember. It was never good by any means, and maybe it's just that I'm older now, but nostalgia certainly isn't saving it.

Still a really good game as it always has been, but I kind of expected to be like "yeah now this is more like it" after the FFXIII games (which I didn't dislike but didn't like as much as the older ones) but I would be lying if I said that were the case. Most of the characters and their voices are just as grating to me as the worst of FFXIII.

PS3 version 30 fps? Really?
I feel pissed off T_T

It's not like the game is heavily dependent on action or input relied on frame count. It's a turned based RPG.

I mean I'd understand if it was a racing game or twitch action game like Ninja Gaiden.

I was going to say the same thing. It's a hard post to word properly, though. Being turn-based doesn't "excuse" the game for being 30fps, but at the same time, having just watched a playthrough of ToS HD, the 30FPS here is simply "not as terrible." Watching ToS at 30 fps was just an eyesore with all of the movement appearing less fluid, where here, being a menu based system, it's not as immediately off putting.

I though original PS2 ran at 50/60 fps (missunderstanding with Hz). That's why I was kinda disappointed. But I was wrong, it was 30.

Everything fine now.

i wonder if this means it would have the same problem DeadNation(PS4) had when porting the game.

I'm not sure but considering you are constantly moving and shooting in DeadNation, it would definitely have a noticeable "feel" in the gameplay if you understand what I mean.

Tales of Symphonia for example would also have an impact to some degree because of the real-time nature of the battle system. A lack of "fluidity" per say.

Am I crazy, or is the game automatically switching its resolution in-game? I was on Besaid's beach earlier, and the screen became a little blurry, like if it was in 720p. But then I moved, came back to the same spot, and it was back to a clear and crisp picture... I don't get it.

To anyone who owns the PS3 version. Does the HD Remaster install any kind of data to the HDD. I was just hoping there was some sort of install or cache file in place to circumvent some of the loading of the BluRay Drive.

Any kind of install option would be nice to make it so the game isn't constantly reading from the disc all the time. I just wondered if FFX / X-2 HD had such a thing.

I don't believe there is. It kind of sucks, as there's sometimes a bit of lag when doing various things like placing spheres into the Grid. Music also occasionally takes a second to load.

I wonder if the download version has these problems?

This has happened to me as well. So far it's only happened on the beach, but it was very very weird when it did occur. I thought something was wrong with my monitor at first.

It would be ironic if these versions can't be installed, as the original games (in their japanese versions) could indeed be installed on the PS2 HDD.

That happened to me a couple of times on the Vita version.

Which direction should I take Kimahri in?

Auron has high base stats which leads people to believe his Sphere Grid path is what makes him stronger. This is not true and both Wakka and Tidus will outgrow him given enough time.

The fact that Auron doesn't totally suck is because of his base stats, but his path's growth is actually laughable.

If you want Kimahri to be a hitter, you can't go wrong with Wakka's path. Str and HP in abundance, plus Acc and well-rounded boosts for the other stats. Not to mention very useful abilities.

Steal/Use and Mug are very useful to have on at least one more character for all of the game and that alone makes it worth it to sneak him into Rikku's path. He'll get a lot of agility too so when you finally move him into someone else's late in the game, he'll be strong AND fast.

Tidus has decent stats and gives him a lot of utility with Hastega/Slowga, Delay Buster and Quick Hit and he'll be able to make use of his high Mana there.

Statistically speaking, Tidus, Wakka or Rikku generally are the best choices. Kimahri's MAG is rather low compared to Yuna and Lulu so he generally makes a terrible Mage.

Got to play this finally last night. This looks amazing on the Vita. I half wish it was just a little bit sharper but it doesn't look like a blurry mess like a lot of games. The colours are amazing without being
oversaturated
on my 2000 model. So yeah, it isn't just the OLED that makes this game look great. It just looks great period. Couldn't play too much last night since I was so exhausted but I'm excited to pick it up again this morning.

I feel like the Spiral Cut input has lag or something. I'm playing on Vita.

Also does anyone have advice for the Expert sphere grid? Never played the International version before.

Oh wow, thanks for this. This all makes sense. The last couple of times I played the game I took Auron or Lulu's path. How's that for bad luck?

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
The graphics are almost as good as many early/mid PS3 games in some instances. The background textures and the water especially look beautiful.

Send Yuna towards the -ra spells!

I also got Kimahri Use and Steal, early on.

YEEEES, I DID IT. I DEFEATED THE GOERS, 4-3. It was... intense. Was winning by 3-2, even with the RNG against me. Goers did a goal on 3:20. Then tried my luck with Wakka's poison shot. GOAL.

FUCK YEAH.

I couldn't do it...i kept trying and the team is just way too overleveled and overpowered.

I have never beaten this part of the game..ever The closest I got was 2-1..Maybe on my next playthough.

My match against the Goers was weird. It went into overtime without any of the teams scoring any goals. 4:20 into overtime I eventually managed to score the winning goal with Wakka. Blitzball is as confusing as ever.

You get a Magic sphere or something. One of the +4 ones to put on the board. Also a scene with a trophy and you keep your pride intact :D

Fastest way to Wakka's reels? They only show up in tournament mode right? Only league is available right now. Does tournament open up later, or do you need to win so many league games?

I'm about to hit the Thunder Plains storywise.

Tournaments rolls in and out with time, you can just wait on those. I THINK in order to reset the leagues, you have to clear them.

If I recall correctly...

Attack Reels :Tourny
Third (Status?) Reel: League
Auroch Reel: Tourny
Sigil: League

I've gotten Attack, but haven't bothered to clear the league to see if I can get Status up for grabs.

They are. Most of your team kinda sucks, and in this last game, Keepa wouldn't grab the ball even if it softly floated in his direction.

IMO, this game is 90% luck, with a bit of skill. Use your specials - Jecht Shot and Poison Shot help a lot. I missed my Jecht shot, if it didn't it would be a lot easier on my heart :p Try to break the weaker defenders when shooting.

What I did a lot and worked sometimes was Pass the Ball to Tidus -> Break the First Defender -> Shot. Worked twice. Also got lucky once with the other offensive player.

Oh yeah, it also requires a lot of patience. I replayed that game more than 10 times, easily.

victory! victory! victory! victory! victory! victory! victory! victory!

SWEET VICTORY. The other 9 defeats before that made it even better.

DO you get a specific item or anything?

A different cutscene. I also got one Sphere after the match, don't remember if you get it if you lose.

Not my personal favorite, but a lot of people seem to deem this the "best" path...

For the normal Sphere Grid, take him to Rikku's section and teach him Steal/Use then park him at the Level 2 Lock to Yuna's section until you get your first Level 2 Key in Macalania. Then cross into Yuna's path and backtrack a bit for Reflect. Continue down Yuna's path and unlock Curaga, Holy, ect.

This Kimahri makes good use of Black Magic Spheres as well.

Something a lot more simple, and my preferred build, is just to follow Tidus' section straight through.

Ok, cool. I actually won the first game, and against the Goers too. Revenge is sweet. But I did use the cheat by scoring once then going to your goal while everyone swims in circles, though when I tried it again it didn't work, they came after me. You really can't go behind the goal, just behind the goalie.

Last night I was actually able to do it for the first time ever after playing this game numerous times over the years. I have no idea how, but I was able to score one goal in the last second 30 seconds and time ran out right as the Goers were about to score. That felt good, man.
