If you have money to burn then why not. I’m not tech geek enough that I’m willing spend that much money for graphics but there are people who are and more than happy to spend lot of money to get latest tech.

Most of us splurge on something, and most cant splurge on everything. For me, the more exspensive cards were never too enticing. I feel like i got the last decent deal in a long time and im not buying anything at the current prices. Even at msrp, $400 for a 4060 is not attractive at all. the performance level is fine for me but that price is steep for nothing special.

9070 for $550? eehhhh.... a $600 9070 xt only looks as good as it does because the situation seems bleak. idk if amd can make enough and downstream effects of tariffs are up in the air.

$1000+? yeah i'm out. That's diminishing returns territory, for my taste.

You enter buy a great card that lasts a long time or buy a cheaper card that needs replacing much sooner. The difference is that with one you get spectacular results longer.

That said, I usually buy mud level cards or used high end cards to save a few bucks.

Not exactly, but I couldn't find a valid enough reason. I've tested many recent games with my 3060 Ti, and at 1080p-1440p, I get both good graphics and a smooth gaming experience(50-60fps is enough for me). I think I'll go for a full system upgrade when GTA 6/real next gen games arrive. Until then, I'll stick with the 3060 Ti. If I find a reasonably priced 9060 or 9070(or nvidia equivalent), I might consider it though.

If you're rich, you've probably made even dumber purchases.

99.9% of the time High or Very High is almost identical to ultra preset with way better fps

People buy the very high end gpus for status symbol. Just buy you one of those $600 cards and enjoy 1440p/120fps

Personally, I think it is, yeah. I like to buy older GPUs for budget prices and use those for some years, but I'm also not at the cutting edge of gaming.

That in mind, I also was unable to play Indiana Jones because my GPU didn't support hardware RT.

And the answer is it depends on the person. "Dumb" in this case is relative, so it's only the case if it hurts you financially. If not and you want it, then no, it isn't a dumb decision.

I am glad I can't tell the difference between $5 7-11 wine and a $30 dollar bottle. Unfortunately, I can tell the difference between Seagram's Seven and Pendleton.

Not sure what w would do if i had to replace my pc right now. Budget build or even get something integrated and just play the heavier games on ps5 with a little downgrade. Then hang tight till ps6. That's what makes sense when i think about it.

Would personally never spend 2k or even 1k on a graphic card even if I was rich, well depending on how rich I guess just like I won’t spend 100 dollar for a burger ever.

If people wanna pay that much for it than that’s their choice and I have nothing against them.
