High end PC user what resolution and framerate are you targeting?

We have the rare Pokémon card that everybody wanted for a certain period of time.

It's still a great card, and if it had had more VRAM it would have been one of the best value graphics cards ever.

Even so, its still up there with GTX 1080 Ti and 980 Ti, each being the best bang for buck graphics cards you could get during their respective runs.

Have two of them, in separate computers, and I love them.

Mainly just play older games, and it absolutely stomps everything, so will likely keep them around until 6000 or 7000 series.

4k, 100+ fps
I don't mind using DLSS and frame gen. So far I'm happy with my 4090.
My main monitor is 4k@240hz.

1440p and 90-120 fps with RT if available, using either DLSS Quality or DLAA if there is performance overhead. Frame gen is optional but I do use it sometimes for 120+ fps as I have a 360 Hz QD-OLED monitor. RTX 4080 and i5-13600KF by the way running Windows 11 Pro with 32 GB of memory.

4k120/144. It will be like that from now on. I can see myself dropping it to 1440p in the future but it's highly unlikely. I have a 28"G7 in portrait, a 48"C2 as my main monitor, and a 65"CX as a third for when I want to watch sports or game on that. They're all 120+ Hz. We're not going back!

32-inch, 144hz, 2560x1440.
Intel 12900k + Nvidia RTX 3080-12GB.

Runs anything I've ever thrown at it at max settings with 60+ frames.
Normally I just play at the 1440p resolution without any type of DLSS.
When taking screenshots, I down-sample from higher resolutions, which looks substantially better than any other solution I've seen.

Depends on the monitor. 3840x1600 most of the time. 4K if I'm on the OLED. More frames the better. Minimum of 60 if it's required. 30fps if it's some slow turn based title. Waiting on the 5090 to upgrade the 3090 based system, then it's going to the living room in an ITX box as a streamer/media hub.

For me it’s at least 4K 120fps…the latest release have a little bit of trouble getting there MAX out on a 4090 so I’m waiting for the 5090 like crazy!!! PC GAF what is your target?

4k 100 fps is the minimum for me and calibrating HDR is also very important to me.

Would love to take this guy down the pub for a drink. He is the biggest HDR fanatic I've ever come across.

I’m rocking an ultrawide so 3440x1440 60+ fps is what I want from everything. If it can run 720 30+ fps on my Steam Deck too even better.

With that PC you'd want to pair it with an equally good display and 4K OLED. One of the biggest upgrades for visual fidelity and proper HDR.

2025 ones should be interesting with higher brightness and refresh rates.

Any current recommendations or best to wait till next year? Wouldn't mind playing MH Wilds in full 4K glory come Feb.

Follow-on question: Any risk of OLED burn-in on PC or has this been totally solved at this stage? I have an LG C4 77" TV, but am curious about static OS UI elements such as the taskbar burning into the monitor.

3080 here. Not highest-end, but above the average.

I target 4k (with DLSS) and 60fps. There are few games that can't hit and hold it.

If we're talking 32" UHD monitors.. you can't really go wrong with any of the 2024 releases. Really just depends on what you want; do you want a curved, flat, matte or glossy screen. Those are the main deciding factors as well as your local regional price. Image quality is going to be really close to one another. And one of two maybe come with DP 2.1 with UHBR20.

I have a 32" Gen 3 QD-OLED (Samsung G80SD) and I use it several hours a day and don't really take care of it. So long as you don't leave static image on for hours on end and have high brightness and no anti-burn in measures like turning off auto-dim.. I wouldn't worry about it. Most companies have good burn in warranty as well, which is something to look out for. And yeah it might get more expensive next year with import tariffs so may be a good time to get one.

On the other hand you may want to wait if you want to best. Newers ones will come with DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 standard so no more DSC. Be brighter and faster. But tbh 240hz is darn good already for 4K. There's also 27" 4K OLED coming supposedly.

3440x1440 (desktop) or 3840x2160 (living room) at locked 30, 40 or 60fps depending on the game and available visual fidelity.

I choose a resolution that is mutually beneficial to all parties involved.

We talking about the People's Court right? (PC)

So glad so many people are on 4k 60fps these days, felt so lonely being on it since 2014. People said it wasn't possible back then but my 290X begs to differ - again - as long as you are are ok with lowering settings. On a 28" even medium settings with max textures still looks better than 1080p maxed out in overall fidelity.
