There were boos when Cleverley's name was read out at an international friendly? Okay he's not an amazing player but I find that really disgusting. He's done nothing to warrant this personal attack on him except not be a good player. He's being bullied.

England fans need to sort themselves out because that's some disappointing shit for fans of a national team to be doing.
It's really poor form.

Cleverly is a bad player, but his selection is entirely the responsibility of Hodgson.

Seriously, what does Prandelli have against Verratti?

Well, presumably at the time Giroud was playing better than Benzema.

But I suppose that doesn't fit in with the deluded gooner narrative.

Yeah, i don't think anyone ever thought Giroud was good enough to be France's starting striker. Nobody thinks he is good enough to be Arsenal's starting striker.

There are clear differences between a national and club team though.

Arsenal have the possibility of going into the market and purchasing one of the best in the world; France are stuck with Giroud, Benzema and Sanogo. If I'm remembering correctly, earlier this season Benzema was playing like absolute shit while Giroud was displayed great form. Hence the people proposing him as first choice.

Right, but that doesn't mean we rate Giroud over Benzema.

I'd take Benzema at Arsenal in a heart beat.

I've been saying I would take Benzema at Arsenal since I started posting here.

My apologies, I've only been able to find one gooner who said it:

The fact of the matter is that Arsenal need a world class striker who's going to come in to games and say "look, I'm going to win this fucking game" and they do it. Someone like Henry. Obviously, it's not as simple as saying we're going to sign the next Henry, but we need someone like that. I feel like Arsenal are finally getting back to those ways of the early 2000's with those kinds of players who are going to put everything out there to win a game. You've got players like Mertesacker and Flamini yelling, and Ramsey and Wilshere have both shown they can turn it on and try to win us a game when it needs it, but neither of them are exactly clinical goal scorers.

The real problem comes down to who exactly is that player, and can we realistically expect Arsenal to pay whatever it costs to make it happen. I really feel like there's a lack of available options coming up. Who do we have:

Falcao - I have no idea if this is even plausible as there are rumblings he doesn't want to stay at Monaco, but I don't think we'd pay whatever ridiculous money he would cost.

Benzema - I mean let's be honest, is he a world class striker? Giroud starts ahead of him for France.

etc

and these two dipshits

Aye, bit of confusion there.

Suarez saga was a weird one, it's extremely rare for a striker of his ability to be at a club without Champions League football, and that's something he was desperate for. I don't really think his desire to join Arsenal stemmed from Arsenal being a "desirable" destination for a top striker, but given that you offered Champions League football and were the only club legitimately interested, he seemed intent on moving south.

Would that change with Ozil and a 2nd or 3rd place finish this season? Perhaps.

And regarding Benzema I'd much rather have Giroud. Benzema is lazy and wasteful.

Oh yeah hahaha, silly me

Don't think there's too much between the two if I'm being honest. I quite like Giroud, I give him far more stick here than I actually believe just to wind up Arsenal fans. Different players, but if both are on top form they're pretty close.

And I agree with Arnie re: Giroud > Benz

Benzema has had shit patches, but Giroud's never been on his level. Benzema does much, much more than just score, and I've really come to appreciate his contribution to the team this season. The way we're set up now finally allows for his other qualities to shine, since Mou's counterattacking gameplan wasn't really tailored to exploit Benzema.

Giroud can hold the ball up well and once in a while he will get lucky and the ball will bounce off his big shitty corpse into the path of an Arsenal player.

He is a poor finisher and can't create anything for himself. I can not think of a single goal he created himself.

Benzema, when on form can finish, create for others and create for himself. And he has some pace.

With France's group Benzema is a solid bet for that Golden Boot.

Arsenal are interested too? I've only seen City and United reports

Yeah, we have been. Record and O Jogo claim Arsene's interested, and apparently we've watched him alot this season.

Didn't know City were interested though... *pulls up boxers*
