Liverpool play Hoffenheim in the CL qualifier.

Is it next year where England, Italy, Spain and Germany top 4 automatically gets CL spot and won't have to do qualifiers?

2nd leg at home is nice though.

I would have preferred 2nd leg away, because they might try to play out a draw at home and try to get an away goal when we play them at Anfield.

Trust us to get the hardest possible draw. No PL club has not made it through the play-off round (The Ev went out round 3). Klopp has played against them regularly and they've lost their best players - should manage to beat them over the two legs.

Yep next year.

2nd leg at home is always the better option - if you're losing after the first leg you can always get that boost from the home fans.

just looking at last years Bundesliga table - it looks like Hoffenheim are good at home (w11 d6 l0), but less good away (w5 d8 l4), so if Liverpool get through the first game with a draw that would be pretty good.

Hey Guys

Just to put the Sanchez move to bed, he kissed the shirt in training for Arsenal TV yesterday, and Wenger has said he is staying, and he respects the club position, it looks like Van Dilk is to miss the start of the season as he is not training, I don't see how he can join Liverpool, so I expect he will move elsewhere

in fact Wengers statement almost seems like they accept he is leaving on a free

Unless Sanchez signs an extension, I still think he's going.

Leaving next year on a free would be daft, might as well sell the player now and at least get a little bit of cash.

This is the biggest problem with Liverpool's transfer policy this summer. They were after specific players and had no alternatives. Now we will start the season with a squad just as paper thin as last year and probably crumble in January again. He will likely refuse to buy someone in January again as well.

I don't know for the life of me why they are so against alternatives, they should have realised that Keita and VVD were 50/50 at best. I remember when we wanted Poborski back in the day, missed out and got Patrik Berger instead - the single greatest player of ALL TIME. Depay/Firmino was another great example.

You listed a couple of good examples but I couldn't disagree more. We've spent millions on players over the years and far too many have been total failures.

If the manager only wants two players and those two are unavailable, then we shouldn't just buy players for buying sake. I remember the clear out after Benitez, Hodge, Kenny and Rodgers, we don't need squad filler, we need players to improve the first team.

It's impossible to predict where we'll finish before the windows closes. If we make the right signings we can challenge for the title, if we don't we can maybe get top 4 if we get really lucky with injuries.

I'm surprised how many people are saying on BBC that Neymar is motivated by nothing more than money, I genuinely don't think that's the case it all.

It's hard to judge without knowing the truth but I think it's not a completely unfair judgement to make when you go from playing with Messi and Suarez at Barcelona to PSG with a crazy transfer fee attached.

Why does he wear the mask!?
Also Amir Khan and his wife is going at it on Twitter because she slept with Anthony Joshua

He's now the highest payed footballer in the world, beating Tevez's crazy contract. He'd never get that at Barca.
True but he was already making insane amounts of money, I'm just giving him the benefit.

But I can't help but feel you hit the nail on the head there. Rather than being the 'best player at a club' he's part of - at best - a trio.

Yeah, he's definitely delighted that he doesn't have to compete with Messi and Ronaldo as the league's biggest star anymore.
No doubt, no doubt.

I mean, is he wrong?

But aye, our owner is a wanker

Not wrong at all. But anything is possible within the constraints of business if they are big enough. There has been a lot of dealings in football since the beginning of commercialism that break the whole sportsmanship thing. But its not been about sportsmanship since then anyway, it became about capitalism.

One thing that could become an utter clusterfuck that few have actually noticed is that PSG went after every single City signing this summer after the UAE placed sanctions on Qatar. Now there is politics of a different kind involved.

Is this gonna be City's main formation for the season?

It's so all out attack, I like it. I respect any team that still uses 2 strikers these days.

The annoying thing for me is not Sanchez leaving, but how we've completely bungled his contract.
We're letting at least ~£70m worth of talent go for nothing!

This happens when a coach is as stubborn as Wenger. Alexis has been giving -for some months- hints about not wanting to be in Arsenal anymore.

It's already known Wenger told Sánchez this week he's free to leave with the condition of not signing in any PL team. That clearly means Alexis said to his face he is not interested in staying at Arsenal.

He appearing kissing the Arsenal shirt means nothing, it's kinda hard to believe some people are so naive about these things. Also, looking at him during training being all happy, laughing, goofing around, etc. it's not indicative of anything either. That's Alexis personality every time, here in Chile, in our national team, in Arsenal, in Barcelona, when he appears in a TV show, he always acts the same, to a degree... he behaves like he is still a kid.

Rafa should keep you guys up even if he has one of the worst 3 squads in the league.

The thing Newcastle fans should be worried about is Ashley and Rafa falling out, and Rafa getting fired after pushing things with the board too much. If that happens then it will be difficult for them

Trust me, every toon fan is worried about this. It's very likely to happen too. Ashley is a horrible man to work for.

PSG president promises any move for Alexis Sanchez will be by the book

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi could make a move for Alexis Sanchez this summer, but he has vowed to do things by the book if he does try to land the Arsenal star.

Al-Khelaif told Sky Sports that he would go directly to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, rather than tapping up Alexis.

'Alexis Sanchez is a player of Arsenal today,' he said. 'We have respect for Arsenal and I have excellent relations with Arsene Wenger and, if I want Alexis Sanchez, I am going to talk to Arsene Wenger.

When asked if PSG might move for Alexis, he added: 'I think I'm very clear. If I'm going to be interested in him I'm going to talk to Arsene.'

Make of that what you will...

So he pretty much admit to tapping up Neymar. Wow

I like you.

It was close but I believe Wagner is the real deal. If you had Danny Ward back on loan I'd be even more confident. Then Hughton has a mixed record in the prem, and I don't rate De Boer plus they haven't bought Sakho who saved them last year. Swansea could be in there too but if they invest the Sigurdsson cash I think they'll be safe.
