For those who tried Dragon Age Veilguard due to it being free with PS+ in March, what are your thoughts on it?

Just curious what your thoughts are on the game, particularly those who only tried it after it was a monthly game for March.

Downloaded it but i don't think i'll be able to start it soon.
Newborn won't let me enjoy my console...

I will give it a try at some point that is certain, but i won't insist if the gameplay doesn't click soon enough.
I already watched some footage and writing seems very bad. Even though combat looks like fun, most reviews i read say its very repetitive and you pretty much do everything the first 5+10 hours.

I kind of like it, just played 2-3 hours so far but the game has been enjoyable. The graphics in performance mode on the pro with bloom/motionblur etc. Turned off is really beautiful and the sound is also really good if you have a good surround set. And the most important part: The gameplay is really fun, especially the battle system. So far so good. BUT It is off course a litle cringy sometimes and all the woke shit shines trough. But if you can see past that you have what I think is an really good game (based on first impressions atleast)

I can tell you the purple overload and the corporate slop character design makes it very visible on the PS Menu and easy to avoid.

I got a fever and the only prescription is more purple.

Didnt even bothered to add it to my library. DA is Dead. If i want to play a DA game i play the old ones. Im also having too much fun in MH Wilds so would not have time to try it out so soon anyway.

The NPCs look like they took a bunch of homeless people or gang bangers from Los Angeles and used them as elves and dwarves.

I've never played a Dragon Age game, I'm not about to start now

Try reading the first post again.

I feel your pain. My 2 year old tanked my play time. Nap time was my only free time, but I also ended up asleep a lot of her naps...

On topic, I downloaded it last night but didn't have time to play. Honestly enjoying Avowed right now and I'd like to finish that before I start another game. I'll give it a whirl soonish. I wasn't a fan of the other Dragon Age games, so I'm not expecting much. I'll update this once I give it a try.

15 min was enough to know it's gameplay is meh. Deleted it afterwards.

Graphics looked solid though. Art direction was okay as well.

So far I'm having a great time with it. Great graphics, animation, music, feels good playing it. Granted, I've just started, but so far I'm having a good time.

Bought it and completed it, sold it on but enjoyed it. I overlooked the non binary bits as they were tiny and overblown (5 mins of game time) I have added it to my collection in case I want to going back for a platinum but it's unlikely as have better games to do that with.

To be honest... i never played Dragon Age, and this game absolutely is not a good way to try it... even if you do not know this game is stupid... that fu**ing purple filter screams 'there is something wrong with me' energy It's worse that the mexican-yellow filter for every Breaking Bad desert and/or Download Audio scene!

Guy on the right too mean looking for the devs.

I was skeptical at first. But, after 10 hours, the devs have convinced me I should get a sex change operation.

Hell, EVERYONE should get one. Maybe two.
If someone gets a sex change, then gets another one to reverse it back, can it be argued the person never really got a sex change to begin with? lol

Considering it flopped so badly it's already a PS+ game, it sounds like the forum might be the better part of the old internet to do market research in if you ask me.

Been playing it tonight, not as bad as I was expecting and I'll probably keep going. I would never have bought it so putting it on ps plus is the best thing they could've done. It looks pretty enough but from a design perspective it's not great and neither is the writing. I'd say it's "AAA" gaming at its most disappointing. Crazy times.

It's quite alright, really. It's pretty to look at and it sounds good, it's more Mass Effect with swords and magic and Metroidvaniaish progression than Dragon Age though. The combat gets fun when options start opening up, but the whole game takes a good while to start getting interesting. The finale past the point of no return is - dare I say - actually pretty good.

Well i bought it from the get go and platinumed it... And... Taash is the worst pile of shit character imaginable. I could shit out a better easily, nothing but a self insert shit bag that wants to project their life experiences... Absolutely ridiculous.

The rest of the game honestly wasn't bad. It really wasn't, the combat was fun enough, the music I did really like in alot of areas, it had some really nice atmospheres and locations.

But if you want like any type of hardcore deep rpg with actual choices this wasn't it.

Take out taash and the game wasn't horrible it had some stuff.

I just tried it out and it's not for me:

The graphics are pretty good.

The character creator is well done.

I hated the characters art style.

I started as a mage and the combat seems quite boring. It felt like a huge downgrade compared to Inquisition.

The story seems bad and the characters didn't grab my attention.

It's probably not nearly as bad as many make it out to be but their, ahem, aversion for Trans people and apparently the color purple will stop them from even trying it.

I wouldn't buy it on sale. I would've play it for free. You would have to pay me to play the game, and even then I'm going to negotiate the price you pay. The game is the biggest bucket of AIDs I've ever seen.

On a related note, the Veilguard subreddit noticed that the Player Rating has been steadily decreasing since it became available on PS+, but the nutjobs think its being unjustly review bombed :messenger_grinning_smiling:

It is on sale at the price I told myself months ago that I'd be willing to pay for it, but I'm thinking I'd rather not. The more I think about it, the more I just don't like the colorful Disney/Fortnite vibe it has going on. I've also seen some examples of awful, awful dialogue, and I am just turned off as a result. It has that feeling of "fantasy-RPG-mixed-with-Disney-and-teenage-drama" that I just really don't like. It doesn't even look like a Dragon Age game to me. Its too colorful and the attires are too modern/futuristic looking for my taste. Maybe I'll change my mind later, but I have enough good games to play that I don't feel like taking a risk right now.

The game had some good stuff tho, a shame they had a whack job in charge because you take out taash and then you just have nicey nice characters and nothing else to bad or annoying. She was absolutely the most God awful dog shit character ever, he she whatever, id absolutely thrown her off a cliff if I could've
