Nah....I don't see it. Doesn't matter. I'm just not going to point to something and call it "woke" until I see something that is actually woke. If/when we get preachy non-binary trans bullshit like we got in Veilguard the you'll see me react just like I did with Veilguard. Maybe "witch hunt" is too harsh, but it is certainly an overreaction. If you think this makes me biased and defensive....so be it.

Left Behind and Brokeback mountain aren't that different in maturity, nor is it any less genuine.

Anyway these are the story arcs you should be looking at and making your own judgment on:

Writer of the Davrin story arc, including all missions, and related character/relationship/romance scenes (and Assan!)*Writer of Siege of Weisshaupt mission.*Initial writing on the Veil Jumper storyline and quests.

These are the specific parts in Veilguard that this writer specifically wrote before they left years ago. Make up your own mind.

I've said it before, but I just don't think most video game writers are talented enough to tackle subjects like these. It usually comes across as amateurish college level fan fiction. I still roll my eyes thinking back at some of the stuff in Spider-man 2. Maybe poodaddy poodaddy is right and I'm just hoping Sucker Punch isn't infected with this sort of crap.

Sure there have been some instances of women warriors existing, but that would have been exceedingly rare.

The question is really why after a successful IP debut with GoT did Sony decide to switch the character, advance into gunpowder era, where you have plethora of other similar titles (Ronin, Ishin, upcoming Shadows), and make protagonist female?

I am really interested to see how this title will perform relative to the 1st game.

Alright alright I get it man. Hell I hope it's good too for what it's worth, and no I don't think you're defensive and biased in general, just maybe about this particular game ;). Which I get! Hey, at the very least it'll probably be mind-blowingly gorgeous and have state of the art audio design and pretty damn fine combat, much like the first game. I won't lie, I'm worried about.....some things, but I admire your positivity and position of "innocent until proven guilty.". We all could learn to improve in that area, but....we've just been hurt so many times brother. Teach us to love again!

That's not good, because it means either you are a poor writer (because you didn't notice the writing stunk) or you are a follower chicken, too afraid to speak up.

Then again, they are coming on board pretty late in the process. The game is far enough along in development to have the main story and characters nailed down. They are probably just doing fill-in work, scripting substories and ancillary stuff.

They will also be under different leadership which will hopefully be able to course correct, so to speak, on how things are done.

This is feeling a bit witch hunt-y, cancel culture-y to me. Everyone has a history of good and bad projects. I’d rather let the final product speak than judge this prematurely. And they don’t even seem to be the lead writers. At the end of the day, it comes to the creative director’s vision. If that’s messed up, we’ll see it soon enough

I can somehow look over this. Even in japanese pop culture and anime, sexy girls are sometimes characterized as strong and can outplay men in some occasions.

Why? Because thou shalt not have any male lead characters in Sony games. Jin was an Asian male which is even worse than Straight White Males in the woke world.

Look, people will deny it but Sony's track record speaks for itself:

- Retconned Aloy to be gay
- Killed off Joel so they could have a lesbian lead in TLOU2
- Retconned Black Cat to be gay
- Cancelled Days Gone 2 because it featured a white male character despite selling 7.5 million units and making $265 million
- Introduced a literal trans character in TLOU2 for no reason whatsoever
- Whatever the fuck the lead in Intergallactic is supposed to be but she doesnt look anything like a woman, just like Abby. Dont look up Dr Jean Grey in the leaked wolverine files. She looks trans.
- And now this. A female samurai in a game grounded in reality. This isnt a platinum game. this isnt a kojima game.

Kill Bill was heavily inspired by Lady Snowblood, a Japanese revenge film. It is believed that Tarantino actually required the crew to watch it during the movie’s filming.

Calling this game kill bill in Japan is like calling the Indiana Jones game a tomb raider with a penis. It’s all a great circle!

Yeah i mean Ragnarok is still pretty fun to play but man that story.... (I will never get over the fact we didnt get thors hammer..)

Yeah Last of 2 does some stuff but I would have hated it if the final act wasnt there, also fuck the manipulitive marketing where they lied to the players about joel and ellie adventuring.

Yeah, gameplay was okay, but that story fell flat.

That’s a good way to put it with respect to the final act. I mean, I Can actually forgive the Joel thing in trying to make you feel something

For those who keep talking about Sony Japan, it's time for a good reminder that a Japanese guy (Ken Inagaki) is the studio director of the development department that produces games made by SIE America subsidiaries (for the most part), which also employs Japanese producers who worked on Helldivers 2 and TLOU2 Remastered (Ryuhei Katami and Toyomo Kimura).
There's a very high chance that they're all working on Ghost of Yotei AND Intergalactic to boot.

Its 2025... red flags are exactly what they are... benefit of the doubt died about 4 years ago .... gender swapping and hiring that thing for the main character is all the red flags you needed... maybe just maybe the recent pushback on wokeness may change things a little if the time permits... but knowing how this people likes to double down I sincerely doubt.

If you dont care.. enjoy... Im sure it will be a highly competent game so go and have some fun.

But its going to be another "girl boss good at everything (probably lesbian) fuck you dumb evil man" narrative.
