Forza Horizon demo impressions

The demo has some major DiRT 2/3 vibes going on. The menus, atmosphere, and music felt very DiRT-like. There was even a song from DiRT 3 playing in a menu. That's not a fault in any way. I loved DiRT 1, 2, and 3 and will most definitely love this game judging by the demo. The game is very pretty and looks noticeably better than Forza 4. I wasn't crazy about the mustang vs mustang race, but I guess it was okay. Will the auction house/livery editor be included in the full game?

Oh. That very missleading, the title instantly makes you think it's a new Forza. Who's making it?
Forza has a fan base, and shifts units. That's why it's a Forza game.

It's Playground Games, they are like a dev supergroup, ex Bizarre, Codies and Turn 10 I believe.

Get hype!

Open World, simple as that.

Yeah you can tell its kinda scraficed a bit of visual glammer, but overall its pretty good. I think my main issue is with the colours. Things are to dark on the default setting (which is like 60% I think) and things are to washed out/dust like on 100%.

Responses seem good so far.

How does dashboard view feel? Like Forza? No in car tilting and panning I hope.
EDIT:: saw YouTube. Looks good!

I love the fact that they killed most jaggies. I think jaggies are especially apparent on a sleek car designs...

But so far, the gameplay looks rather boring. This will go head to head with Need for Speed Most Wanted. A game infinitely more fun than Forza Horizon from what i've seen thus far.

Right now this just looks like a been-there-done-that-racer in gameplay.
What makes it special that i don't know a bout yet?

Graphics look fine.

The night time stuff is rather good, I like the headlights and your car will get a light reflection in 3rd person view but not in the cockpit if a car is behind you, which is a shame but nothing bad. Night time should be a little longer it turned to sunrise really fast.

I really like the demo, glad to be getting the LE tin now.

Sure, if full-on arcade, insane crashing and jumping is your thing.
I prefer the crusing around in a more realistic way :)

Is it me or is the diffculities much tigher/preform better then Forza 4. Had it on the highest diffucility and was having a blast in the car they give you to free rom in driving through the dirt roads with it as a manual.

I think it takes your save file for the diffucilities, cause mine was on Medium when I was doing the races. It just felt really weird and tight, but not tight. It was a very odd feeling. That's why I experimented after I got to free roam.

IMO the difficulty/AI is a LOT tighter on this than FM4, but yes... the handling is also a lot weirder. I still really can't put my finger on it, but I'm sure it's that I can't really feel the weight of the car. Not so bad in the Lancer, but in a brick shithouse like the Mustang, it should *feel* heavy. As it was, it was REALLY hard to judge when it was breaking traction and when you had grip. And that was on tarmac.

Open World, simple as that.
Open world-"ish". Not as open as TDU, not as closed as NFS:HP. Actually, the environment *is* as closed off as NFS:HP, it's just that Horizon has more modes to take advantage of the environment (like free roam).

If you play the game you will know. Its hard to say its tight, but the next minute spin out of control because you moved the control stick the wrong way, but on the flip side as you drive around normally without hitting anything it feels like your pushing through the air instead of driving. It's odd.

Spot on. I'm glad it's not just me, then.

I would've been a lot happier if they went with "simpler" physics/handling and gave me something out of PGR4 or Midnight Club LA.

With this coming in the same window as Need for Speed Hot Pursuit it's gonna be really interesting to see how these stack up or differentiate themselves for each other.

There's nothing worse than floaty cars man. I hope you're just imagining things..

Haha, yeah it's not too shabby. :) I get crap download speeds from PSN though for some reason, never been able to fix it either.

You might want to try using google's DNS server (8.8.8.8) instead of your current one for your PS3. It may (emphasis on may) give you another CDN node and give you better download speeds.

Using my Xbox 360 Force Feedback steering wheel. The game is great. More exciting/intense than Forza Motorsport. Game looks great and I like the overall vibe of the game. It makes going from one race to another more exciting and less of a chore than it is in the Forza Motorsport games.

Definitely buying this.

It's a pretty sweet demo! I like how the cars handle and the graphics are pretty neat. The environments are pretty solid too.

i have it in my Q, looking forward to trying it but im in to the arcade style racers so ill most likely be getting need for speed instead of this but well see how the demo goes

downloading now. a bit worried about some of the impressions, but i'll make up my own mind on the topic shortly.

so, its not fm4 physics and handling, huh?

There's hardly any difference in the handling.

I went from F4 to Horizon and back again, if anything Horizon's bumpier roads are a better showcase for Forza physics than Forza 4.

*watches the Russian game play video

Looks good, seems to play good.

But my god, the soundtrack. It almost made me throw up on my keyboard. That shit has to die.
