not really, it was pretty awesome for every platform, specially PS3 and handhelds... then again you consider MW2 the best game of the year, I respect your opinion but couldn't disagree more. Peace.

I haven't counted the votes past 200, but I've been going through and making sure every nominated game in the thread (up to this point) is on the list.

Right now we have 188 different games nominated. Going to sleep now but I'll post some more numbers and things tomorrow sometime.

Ditto, MW2 might be the bro game of the year, but to consider it the best IMO is in really bad taste.

Rez didn't realise that this was going to happen. It would have been nice to have been pre-warned, or even had the issue put forth the community.

I respect the time timetokill has committed to this thing -- you're a champ for doing this for all of us, mate -- but I don't respect the "here's my system. why? because fuck you that's why" approach.

putting together a GOTY top ten was always one of those super-geeky moments every year that I looked forward to, despite how trivial it was.

but it's too late at this point. I will not be voting, and this will probably be my last post in this thread. Dibs on next year's thread.

It isn't. Now the max score per game is 3, making votes count less per person. Meaning that niche games, which will be less voted for, are likely to have less points.

The 1-to-10 system was also broken, as people were just able to vote for one game and give it 10 points. As much as people liked it for the variety of its results, people were taking advantage of it.

The best system I believe would have been to give 15 points, with a max number of 10 games per list. 5 pts can only go to 1 game, and if used, the next available score is from 3 to 1. If you have a tie for your top game, than 4 pts score becomes available (and can have up to 3 games at the top of your list)

Example 1:
MGS4 - 5
Mario Galaxy - 3

Example 2:
MGS4 - 4
Mario Galaxy - 4

Example 3:
MGS4 - 4
Mario Galaxy - 4
WipEout HD - 4
Prince of Persia - 3

Example 4:
MGS4 - 3
Super Mario Galaxy - 3
Modern Warfare 2 - 3
LittleBigPlanet - 3
Halo 3 - 2
WipEout HD - 1


The scoring is more balanced, while it also gives people space for their choices. Blockbusters will still stay on top, but will have a closer match, while the niche games get a chance to surface.

Either way, this is the second voting, so it is unlikely to be changed once again this year, thanks for your patience and time spent, timetokill, and good luck :lol

Why? Because the previous scoring system was more broken than this one, naming just one game with the 1-to-10 system gave a SINGLE game 10 freaking points
