When did I say people should complain about it?What reason would there be to complain about this?
My honest reaction was "so what?" Why not just buy the games straight off of Steam, etc. That's not to say I didn't understand why it is a good thing, but I didn't understand why everyone was quite this excited. Why the hell wouldn't you be?
COMPLETE DIGITAL SATURATION
Must have missed that...Incidentally, the Valve Handbook mentions a recent hiring push for Support staff.
No reason to walk into a Gamestop. Valve could at least sell it to other retailers like Best Buy, Amazon and Walmart too. Wonder what will happen to Impulse now?No thanks, I'd rather GameStop not get a cut.

Ooooh, I see. A lot of people here are scared of credit card info being stolen. Amusing.

Steam accepts cash?

This.None of my family members have steam accounts, and won't simply hand me cash as a holiday gift.
They will give giftcards though.![]()
The only thing stopping you from using Steam was the lack of Gamestop?
Why are so many people happy about this?![]()
mobile appremote downloadsgift cards- better customer service
- better offline support
I'm running out of things to complain about.
Hope it' coming to Europe too.
Nope, but it accepts credit cards.Steam accepts cash?
Shit happens. It would be pretty stupid to let one bad event prevent someone from purchasing anything online in the future. Hell, I do my banking online - should I stop doing that, too? My bank can get broken into, and my password can get stolen. No matter what you do, your info is out there electronically somewhere. Important info. I don't understand the irrational fear over purchasing things online. It's like the 2011 PSN hack didn't happen at all!
Happen at all!
Happen at all!
...
Stupid sexy Sony.
I dig.The good part about it to me is that - assuming someone is both a console and gaming pc owner - instead of only trading in your console games for store credit and buying used console games where only GameStop is making any profit, you now have the ability to trade in console games for what is effectively Steam credit. This way GameStop gets their little bit, Valve gets their little bit, but most importantly the Developer/Publisher/Actual people involved with making the games are making more money. Now, obviously this won't always be the case - it may not even be the majority situation - but I can't see it as anything other than good.
Yeah, like I said, I get why it's a nice thing. I just didn't expect people to be this enthusiastic about it. More like "oh, okay, that's cool". Maybe I'm also overestimating the age of the average user on this forum.None of my family members have steam accounts, and won't simply hand me cash as a holiday gift.

I'd sure love to flip and turn my GS credit into steam vouchers for one.
The only thing stopping you from using Steam was the lack of Gamestop?
There will be a link to "Redeem a Steam Wallet Voucher..." in the "Games" menu between "Activate a product" and "Manage gifts". It will link to "%store%/account/redeemwalletcode/"(https://store.steampowered.com/accou...eemwalletcode/), but that currently redirects to the homepage.
I know...have you been following the conversation, or are you just posting to post? And now I can finally use my cash.

I'm confused. Exactly what is the point of these outside of like a gift card type situation? Why waste time driving to the store when you can just log into steam and buy whatever you want?
After years of free (or next to nothing) software available on Steam ... and this will convince some people to try the service?
Well ... I don't have any words for that.
This would be amazing if I was twelve and did not have a credit card.
To bad you are more interested in trying to look cool with a dumb reply then actually understanding that this will benefit Steam users a lot. I can now give Valve my gamestop in store credit money rather then it all going to gamestop and now people can buy me these pre-paid steam cards for gifts instead of other crappy presents.

Uh... prepaid cards are pretty big outside the US. Not everybody has a CC you know.
