Played the Directors Cut recently on PS5 and it's still ridiculous looking in almost every aspect.Death Stranding's rocks with the moss were damn near photorealistic. I remember being blown away on PS4.

Nah.Very rarely some games looks more colorful\vivid but that's it.
Most games have shit hdr and the time you waste trying to micro-calibrate for every game is not worthy, at least for me.
People are gonna tell you how game changing it is, but at the end of the day, it's just a different tone of color, an ugly game is gonna look ugly even in hdr and a good looking game is gonna look great even without hdr.
Btw slimy, i heard people solved the high temps in failguard by upgrading the bios, do you have a 13-14 gen intel cpu and you haven't updated your bios recently? Because that could be the problem, the game from what i saw it should not be heavy on the cpu, it has barely any physics or destruction or large numbers of npcs on screen.
I have an lg c1 and like i said, sometimes some games looks good, usually my best experiences are with sony games on playstation because hdr on pc hdr is 99% of the times trash.Nah.
HDR on a good HDR screen is fucking amazing.
I had a 4K LG OLED screen and TLoU2 and Horizon Zero Dawn looked incredibly good on it. It just didn't look like something on a screen anymore, but more like a window. It would POP out.
Whenever I turned it off it just looked 'flat'. The sky would look like a texture again instead of something really emitting light.
Now I do agree that most games have shit HDR modes. I remember No Man Sky just look plain awful, with everything being very bright. It needs to be carefully balanced for it to take effect, not just some filter/LUT turned on.
Oh please, i heard people calling hdr miracolous way before a c1 was even in the balls of his creator.LGC1 is that old/outdated OLED tech.
If you want true HDR, one of the newer OLED TV's that are siginificantly brighter released in 2024 or 2023 will provide much better results. The difference is night and day. But it is crazy at how fast the C1 became outdated..
Last year, i preordered a game for the midnight launch. Not sure which one. But i was tired and ended up not going. The next morning when i got there, the manager was like i sold your copy to someone else because you didnt show up. I said, well i preordered it and he said its not a guarantee and that i shouldve shown up at midnight. luckily they had another copy left and he made sure to tell me that he was doing me a fucking favor. it took every ounce of self restraint to not tell him to go fuck himself and walkout.Gamestop called me to fix an appointment because apparently the pro release day is gonna be hell and they are calling people to partition the whole thing to not make the queue too long.
I laughed and told him that the next game i'm gonna play on the pro is sushi 2 so i'm in no rush to pick the console, i'm probably gonna go pick it in the middle of next week
The dude that called me is my friend, he made me preorder a ps5 before preorders were even a thing, i think i can trust him but thanks for the info, it was a short but gripping storyHDR only pops because game mode on tvs and monitors take out all the colors. I believe it was Represent who said to play in Standard modes because they have all the post processing features that make these fancy $2k OLED tvs fancy. Game mode disables all of that extra shit and in the end games end up looking drab and dull.

soon after that, he was replaced with a much nicer dude who was almost apologetic about the previous admin. they must have received a lot of complaints about that guy.
TLDR; dont trust gamestop with your preorders.
I went back recently and while overall it looks fairly decent, its last gen roots became apparent.Played the Directors Cut recently on PS5 and it's still ridiculous looking in almost every aspect.
I was about to say the same so thanks for being the resident party pooper for onceI went back recently and while overall it looks fairly decent, its last gen roots became apparent.
Rocks, draw distance, level of detail all felt like a gen behind.
still looks a generation ahead of that MH:Wilds beta....I went back recently and while overall it looks fairly decent, its last gen roots became apparent.

When i said that it looks like a mid ps4 game i wasn't that far away uh?!still looks a generation ahead of that MH:Wils beta....
Sorry to harp on this but I´m so...soooo pissed about just how badly Capcom has fucked this up. I really thought I`d seen the worst of the RE engine with DD2.....
as long as you're not playing in that God awful, hideous, "game mode", you should be fine. that mode is just Washed out colors: the modeOh please, i heard people calling hdr miracolous way before a c1 was even in the balls of his creator.
I play in a complete dark room, i don't need 49573758274 nits of luminance to apprecciate hdr like people who play under the damn sun
When in a couple of years i'm gonna have a microled people are gonna tell me that i don't have the 12.000 dollars model that really show hdr in all of his splendor.
Gimme a fucking break, i had like 3 or 4 hdr television by now and everytime it's always people telling me how much better it is in the next model
And even at its best in some sony games like gow or horizon, the difference is still night and day compared to the difference you have going from 30 to 60 frames or 1080p to 4k, it's a cool gimmick and that's all, that's why almost no dev gives 2 fucks about implementing decent hdr like they try to implement a performance mode and a resolution mode.
what i dont understand is why games like dragon age, dragons dogma 2 and monster hunter are so heavy on the cpu despite doing fucking nothing with it. at least dragon age manages to hold 60 fps, RE Engine games cant even hit 60.still looks a generation ahead of that MH:Wilds beta....

vivid mode for colorful games like Horizon (fine tuned to your liking), FILMMAKER MODE (again fine tuned to your liking) for dark moody games like silent hill. thank me later

OLED tvs have really good input lag. if you are coming from LCD tvs, you probably had more input lag on your 1080p tv's game mode than in standard modes of 4k OLED tvs.
I have an LG C3, he's talking about gaming in filmmaker mode which has atrocious input latency. Gaming mode is a mustOLED tvs have really good input lag. if you are coming from LCD tvs, you probably had more input lag on your 1080p tv's game mode than in standard modes of 4k OLED tvs.
GTA5, Uncharted, Killzone 2 and most other animation heavy games in the PS3 and PS4 era had atrocious input lag. NX gamer did an input lag test on uncharted 4 and it was 147 ms!! For reference, prepatched KZ2 was 180 ms and the worst ever. Even at 120 fps on PS5, the input lag only improved to 96 ms. COD is 45 ms.
So it also differs by games and if you are able to adjust from 45 ms in COD to 145 ms in uncharted 4, then you should be able to adjust with game mode turned off. The trick is to turn off the motion flow stuff. The other picture options dont add much input lag.
DD2 at least has RTGI which expains...some...of the CPU load, but in Wilds there`s no RT (that we know of) and the wildlife simulation so far didn`t really exceed what we`ve seen in games like RDR2 on PS4 with a 2013 mobile CPU.what i dont understand is why games like dragon age, dragons dogma 2 and monster hunter are so heavy on the cpu despite doing fucking nothing with it. at least dragon age manages to hold 60 fps, RE Engine games cant even hit 60.
i liked the open world graphics in dragons dogma 2, but my god wilds looks worse than most ps4 games.
Nah, 5090 it is. Not gonna bother spending money on "last gen" hardwareDid anyone here actually preorder/ buy a ps5 pro?
Did anyone here actually preorder/ buy a ps5 pro?
YessiiirDid anyone here actually preorder/ buy a ps5 pro?
No. I personally have no need nor desire for one with my PC being the “current gen game at high settings and fps” handler in my house. Excited for those that do get one, though!Did anyone here actually preorder/ buy a ps5 pro?
I actually pre-ordered 2 and will be picking both of them on Thursday.Did anyone here actually preorder/ buy a ps5 pro?
Yea, I thought about getting a 5090 as well but I decided to pass. There are no announced games coming out in the next 12-18 months that will benefit from the 5090 on pc. The biggest game in the next 12-18 months is GTA 6. After that, it'll take maybe another year to show up on pc? By that time the 6090 would be out. That means, I'd spend a bunch of money on a GPU that will be replaced before games that can actually take advantage of it release. As it stands, for anyone who has a 30 series or 40 series card with sufficient amount of ram, the 50 series is a big pass.Nah, 5090 it is. Not gonna bother spending money on "last gen" hardware
there is literally nothing coming out on PS that i would need the Pro for.Did anyone here actually preorder/ buy a ps5 pro?

Not me. Not a chance in hell I get that until there’s something that will actually take advantage of itDid anyone here actually preorder/ buy a ps5 pro?
This is why rockstar are geniusesNo. But I will buy one for GTAVI. No fucking way I'm waiting for the PC release.
This is why rockstar are geniuses
In general I'd agree.. But in my case I'm sitting in front of a 57" Dual-UHD 240hz monitor. My 3080 can't even dream to get anywhere beyond half of native resolution at 60fps in any demanding games. As it stands, for anyone who has a 30 series or 40 series card with sufficient amount of ram, the 50 series is a big pass.
If sony pull a fucking microsoft and decide to bring all their games to pc day one AFTER i bought a pro i'm gonna be ultra pissed.there is literally nothing coming out on PS that i would need the Pro for.
Will wait for GTA6, DS2 and GoT2 release dates and buy it accordingly. This thing will probably flop at that price and drop in price by late next year when all these games come out.
Wouldnt be surprised if DS2 and GoT2 are day one PC as well.
If sony pull a fucking microsoft and decide to bring all their games to pc day one AFTER i bought a pro i'm gonna be ultra pissed.
This shit is something you announce at the start of the gen, not mid gen when people buy stuff accordingly.
I have a barely used xone for the same reason, these cunts need to be clear to what their plans are before people buy their shitty, cheap consoles when they already have a powerful pc at home.
I'm not excited for ds2, i think the first one is a huge dud but somehow i always want to give a last chance to kojima...Why are people so excited about DS2 when the first was barely ok even from Kojima fanboys? Anyway, DS2 will most likely be a day one on PC. The rest wont.
I'm not excited for ds2, i think the first one is a huge dud but somehow i always want to give a last chance to kojima...
Maybe he is gonna turn ds2 into mgs6, who knows?
I was more talking in general.
Why do you think that ds2 is gonna be specifically on pc day one but not the others?
The gap is shrinking every year. Spiderman 2 will release in just one year. Helldivers 2, Concord, HZD Remaster and Until Dawn remake all released the same day.I have no clue. Just a random guess. Its published by Sony but dunno, I dont think Sony is going to risk it with Kojima anymore, they might need more sales.
I really think we should look this game, Empire of the Ants, there's some pretty interesting stuff looking here:
The videos are not recorded by me.
Can you stop making sense dude, i didn't bought a pro to have all sony first parties day one on pc, just stop talkingThe gap is shrinking every year. Spiderman 2 will release in just one year. Helldivers 2, Concord, HZD Remaster and Until Dawn remake all released the same day.
Nixxes has finally caught up with all the previous ports so they will move on to either day 1 or day 90 ports like indiana jones.
Even if DS2 and GoT2 dont come out on day one, the writing is on the wall. future games will.
Good looking game but terrible concept. But no one wants to play as ants.
To play what? He has a pc gaming that probably is gonna outperform the pro in some cases, even just for the fact that you can tailor settings on pc.Bets on slimysnake saying he has ordered a PS5 Pro before the end of the year?
Have you played it?Why are people so excited about DS2 when the first was barely ok even from Kojima fanboys?
Yes, twice.Have you played it?
lol i like how my friends in real life had the same bet, but they all lost. I held out just fine.Bets on slimysnake saying he has ordered a PS5 Pro before the end of the year?
Dude think that anyone who doesn't like that turd didn't actually played it, very funnyYes, twice.
the only problem with my pc is that my 3080 might be bottlenecked by the 10 GB vram, and my cpu which runs cyberpunk PT just fine at 60 fps seems to be struggling with RT in some recent games like black myth.To play what? He has a pc gaming that probably is gonna outperform the pro in some cases, even just for the fact that you can tailor settings on pc.
Yep, changing just one piece is hard to do now (it's probably even worse with intel), this is why i usually upgrade the whole pc every 3-4 years.the only problem with my pc is that my 3080 might be bottlenecked by the 10 GB vram, and my cpu which runs cyberpunk PT just fine at 60 fps seems to be struggling with RT in some recent games like black myth.
So i cant just spend that $700-800 on a new GPU because my CPU might need an upgrade. And upgrading the CPU means upgrading the mobo. That's $600 just to upgrade the CPU plus another $100-150 on a new cooling system since im pretty sure i lost its backplate attachments for AMD CPUs.
I think gaming is in a pretty shit place right now. AMD, Intel and motherboard manufacturers have colluded to make upgrading CPUs way more expensive. Nvidia is running a scam. And Sony seems to be trying to sell us a $399 console for $780. there is nothing here that warrants that high of a price tag.
Twice? Well, then there's no need for me to explain its appeal.Yes, twice.
