Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

While we are at it, what do you guys think about the still de facto industry standard of low res 2D-Bitmap vegetation?
I can't stand it anymore and wish some Nanite like tech will put an end to it soon.
Look at these horrible wallpaper-flowers of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2,
as soon as you get too close, everything looks like shit:

I would love to dive into this game, but stuff like this puts me off. I expect more in 2025.
Crazy that cryengine has shitty vegetation, the vegetation in crysis was crazy for the times, one would expect an upgrade not a downgrade.

BTW, this is the odyssey team that isnt exactly the best team at Ubisoft. They made Syndicate which was a huge downgrade after AC Unity despite using the same engine. I personally though Odyssey looked worse than Origins too.

The main team (Black Flag, Origin and Valhalla) are making AC Hex which is supposed to come out this year, likely delayed till next year. been in dev since 2020.

Then there is the Black Flag remake which is set to come out this year. I hope its using the latest version of the Anvil engine. Not this cross gen shit.
Agree that origins look better than odissey or maybe it's just egypt being 100x times more striking than greece that looked samey as fuck.

The game looks great and all but i really don't understand the praises to the graphic, it looks good but hardly impressive other than the animations.

Animations are great, the graphic look just decent\good, the models really feel old.

Wukong this is not
It still looks solid enough, animations take it to a different level.

The fact that China is making games this good on their FIRST ATTEPMT bodes very well for the next generation.

I don find some flaws like enemies falling down all in the same way without ragdoll, the no weight sliding, it clearly still look like an asian animation system if you know what i mean.

I'm extremely curious to see how nd are gonna handle their first action game, because you can bet your ass the animations in intergalactic are gonna look much different from this.

its a PS5 60 fps game. Footage is from PS5. I am surprised it looks as good as it does seeing as how expensive UE5 games can be on consoles. But its possible they held off on some of the fancier graphics to hit that 60 fps target at high resolutions. It doesnt look sub 1080p like most UE5 games on consoles.

Can't wait for tomorrow gameplay this definitely look amazing, will be a true show piece of ID TECH engine

Path traced lighting is cool and all, but all those empty environments got me thinking why doom never embraced destruction and physics. I get that you cant have too much clutter around those levels that are designed for fast movement and shooting but its been 30 years, can we maybe get something a little different from what doom was like in 1995.

This is depressing...was really hoping they'd massively improve the vegetation for KC2 ....that was the worst part of the graphics and a real immersion killer

Everybody seems to be complaining about too many "Souls" games, but it is the perfect genre for up and coming Asian studios. The games are made on a fraction of the budget, and as long as the combat is fun, Western gamers will buy it. And nobody gives a shit if the story is nonsensical, which pretty much every Souls game is anyways. The games being linear also allows Asian developers to pump out impressive graphics, if they choose to, without budgets skyrocketing

We need more games like this - Realistic style War shooters. Hoping this releases on console shortly, theres a huge demand going on for it right now for a PS5 release. (every tweet this dev makes is flooded by PS5 demand)

Game looks solid thanks to UE5, but the realistic style military shooter is a genre thats far too dead for my liking.

KCD 1 is a weird one because a lot of it is so jank but the textures and lighting and color-grading can make it look and feel super real at times. Like I've seen KCD 1 look more real than anything else, but I've also seen the janky sperg-out animation nonsense and weird, very double-a spots. Strange little game, but still worth a shot for any graphics, gameplay, history, RPG, or story nerds out there. Really solid package, genuinely.

Definitely a weird one. Played it maxed out last summer, and it has that very double A feel to it. Some areas look good, others kind ugly. Towns especially look dated. though to be fair, not many open world games had good looking towns last gen. Horizon 1, RDR2, and Valhalla all struggled with it. Origins and Odyssey roman and greek cities looked good because those crazy bastards were using marbles and extremely expensive looking stones back in 200 BCE. talk about a real life downgrade lol

Ignore the shimmering. Its due to my gif capturing method. You can easily max it out on a 3080 at native 4k 60 fps with pristine IQ.

So it's not enough that the lighting improvements are a joke in FF Rebirth, the upscale implementation is weird.

DLSS is in the anti-aliasing option, then there's a separate option, Dynamic Resolution Scaling, where you chose 100%, 66%, 50%, I guess these are Native, Quality and Performance?

Haven't downloaded it yet, but wasn't it the same in Wukong, I recall setting antialiasing as dlss and then setting the scaling to 75% (although in wukong it would tell you where you're at approximately).

On top of my head both avatar and hfw destroy it.

That's new, usually people complain about UE5.
Not in a graphic fidelity topic if you consider that ue5 is by far the engine with the best graphical fidelity.

In here ue5 is the favourite engine.

Great graphic is not free, there is a reason why crossgen looking games like sp2 run much better than wukong or sh2remake (spoiler for you, it's not optimization, these games just look much better than sp2)

Game is based on dynamic resolution so you set how much you would allow it to drop to keep desired FPS.

50% - is DLSS Performance
66% - ~DLSS Quality

Game will be 100% image quality (DLAA) unless it needs to drop res.

It seems they've gotten some extra investment due to the success of Black Myth Wukong.

Good to see people investing in China, I've been begging for it for over a year now - I have high hopes for next gen thanks to China.
It's not just Stellar visuals, but the Atmosphere looks top notch too in Black Hawk Down
As does the gunplay and hit reaction. Looks fab all around.

yeah its weird. set dynamic resolution max and min both to 67% for dlss quality. 50% for dlss performance and 58% for dlss balanced. With DLSS selected as the anti-aliasing method.

or just see if the minimum can be set to 67% and let the game run it at 100% or dlaa if you have gpu room available. super weird how japanese developers implement these basic things. but ff7 rebirth's game design and graphics decisions are all very obtuse so it fits.

More like tlou2\rdr2 or more like your beloved cod? Because i know you consider both good even if there is an abyss if you ask me.

HFW looks far better than this I like it at first but those visuals don't impress me they should have used snop drop engine instead of outdated anvil engine, also goty looks far better

Yeah, I mean if you game on PC for some time now, you can figure it out, but it's still weird and as you said, these are basic things, in every game you have under DLSS the usual, Quality, Balanced etc.

I have it on 100% and the other 66% at 4K, so far it's ok, a stutter here and there, but it's normal for my Ryzen 5600X, but my God, the lighting in places is atrocious, textures as well.
Normally this should even better, there's no day/night cycle and I doubt NPCs have a Rockstar level simulation, I'm still at the beginning, is the open world one big place or is it composed of a bunch of open ended big areas?

Microsoft showed up today with the visual fidelity, and the diversity of said visuals. I think saying that their games are some of the best looking in this space isn’t a crazy notion at this point.
