Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

This made me laugh. Nixxes allows PC gamers to turn off Ray traced Reflections which are mandatory in the PS5 version, and this is the result.

Honestly, i like it. There is no fallback solution the devs have to focus on. No artists wasting their time aligning reflections. Hope they had gone with dynamic GI as well, but i guess thats coming in Wolverine.

Days Gone.
I'm hoping that Sony studios at least get their act together. Having experience with these new techniques and stronger hardware should make next gen more exciting. I had a feeling this one was going to be a transitional one.

Also, time to take Nixxes off ports and into support for console development.

Or better yet, port DriveClub, KZ, Motorstorm, The Last Guardian, SOTC, and Bloodborne to PS5. 19k concurrent players. Reward the players who turned you into a successful business instead of the cool rich kids who dont want anything to do with you.

is this the PC version? The textures look way better than what i remember on the Pro.
I vaguely remember days gone being the only sony game with improved textures on pc but i'm pretty sure i'm wrong.

I just accepted the fact that sony games look better on pc even with the same textures, the much better iq and high framerate make every game shine.

I was surprised by how good dg looked on pc when i double dipped, but it still has the weak points of the console version in the deacon model.

But yeah this is the pc version.

So do I, as amazing as the game looks I quit playing after the first mini boss killed me 6 times, not touching that shit unless they patch in difficulty options. no time for these hard ass games anymore unless the combat is ELITE
Elden ring dried me up so i'm probably not gonna touch another 3d soulslike for a fucking while, i didn't even downloaded the demo of berserk.

But not for the hard challenge, i usually love dying hundreds of times.

SlimySnake SlimySnake Need some First Berserker: Khazan gifs
I downloaded it last night (or maybe it was the night before) but i was too lazy to connect my controller so had to play with Mouse and Keyboard and hated it. couldnt even beat the first few enemies and had to restart like you do in most souls games and quit lmao.

will try again.

This is so moronic and dumb i dont even know what to say.

They literally say that the Ninja Gaiden 2 UE5 remake looks better but still call this game is stunning. Stunning? Really? Have some standards you fools.

One was focused on UE5 visuals for the remake and the visual output you got from that engine, NG4 focusing on more on performance. I get what they are saying, snapshots-UE5 looks great. In motion- UE5 looks gfdkjldhngslkajfhfgdasjlkhgfgsdajfglasedjhefgsdakfyu.

Elden Ring was the final nail in the coffin for me. Black myth was much easier and much more enjoyable so im hoping Beserker and other Wuchang are the same. I really want to give these UE5 games a shot.

Thankfully the Ninja game isnt a souls like. Mid boss fight checkpoints, no respawning enemies after a death, and no other grindy souls mechanics. Fuck all of that shit. Im so over that whole design philosophy. I will be skipping all Fromsoft games until they get off their high horse and stop with this nonsense.

A lot of people would say that ninja gaiden is harder than your average souls because it's a much fast paced game and you can't hide behind a shield or beat 95% of enemies by running around the enemy in lock on waiting for a backstab, also no rpg stats shanenigans where you can out-level everything, if you are shit with the combat you can only get better or bail out.

I remember getting my ass kicked with ng1 on og xbox.

Yeah ninja gaiden 2 was incredibly hard for me back then.

but these were short games. I cant do these massive 40 hour games anymore where 90% of the time you are just dying repeatedly.

I have a different opinion, nowadays we have very few games that deserve our time, and games tske 5+ years to be made, i would hate to complete a game that i waited for 5+ years in only 10-20 hours because i steamroll everything, also if you don't have a challenge, exploration and sense of progression became meaningless.

I just got bored of the fromsoft souls formula, not the challenge.

Just so you know, Khazan does offer an easy mode, but perhaps stupidly, you can only select it after completing the first mission. It's in the demo if you want to try it out but yeah, you'll have to complete the first mission on normal difficulty to get access to it.

BioWare Has Reportedly Shrunk Down to Less Than 100 People

The studio recently restructured and cut several jobs following the commercial underperformance of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

if SMH were a headline
if Mass Effect [reporeatdly linear] ends up being visually subpar, I will never even look at another EA game

also

Fable Might be Coming to PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 – Rumour

what do you think?

Mass effect is on ue5. It is just starting development so it will likely be a 2030 next Gen game using ue5.5 features.

I realize that I´m sounding like a broken record at this point but holy shit does this look lastgen as fuck...and not even top of the crop last gen, far from it....

Is capcom competing with square enix over the worst asset/texture/lighting quality in a AAA current gen title?

Lighting is good. Textures and geometry are atrocious. I know modern open world games struggle with rocks and rendering a lot of geometry (star wars outlaws rocks are horrendous), but this is 2025 and UE5 solved this problem in may 2020. Capcom's engineers just dropped the ball here. 4 years should have been enough to figure out what Epic was doing with nanite and implement a similar system in the RE Engine.

But lets face it, its probably just 10 engineers working on the RE Engine while the suits are spending all those RE profits on geishas.

Good to see Naughty Dog CEO, and studio's only game director is focused 100% on Video Games made by Naughty Dog.

Or maybe not.

The guy did two seasons of a tv show in the last 4 years since shipping TLOU2 instead of making video games. His studios, aimless without its CEO and the defacto Dictator, sorry Director, wasted nearly 5 years on last gen looking remakes and cancelled GaaS games. Yes, he only 'directed' two episodes but he is the co-showrunner and must have been heavily involved in the show. I recall reading how he was called back mid filming from Canada by Sony who were like get back here and run your studio, but I cant find that article anymore. I honestly think ND will be better off without him. There are talented artists, animators, and level and combat designers working there. They dont need him.

Lighting is good.
I don't see the "good" here. Everything that's not directly lit looks like a cardboard cutout with the classic raster glow-in-the-dark issues and even the stuff that actually is directly lit is massively lacking in AO. The lighting model looks just as atrociously ancient as the rest to me.

They announced that they are working on a new engine, an evokution of the RE Engine called REX

He's going all in with the Naughty Dog Cinematic Universe because doesn't want to be flashless at the golden globes anymore...

As you said it might actually be a good thing since everyone knows what he brings to the table when no one is here to restrain him and his often outlandishly stupid ideas.

feels like the point of those is usually Japanese Dev are our saviour cause of gameplay and art, not ggraphics which is a much less valued thing.
Many even put the weaker focus on graphics as a benefit

I ursually agree, they make games that actually look fun.

I think this whole notion of Japanese games are more fun to play than Western games doesnt always hold true. I'd say they are equally fun to play. Yes, they focus on gameplay and their combat systems are great but we tend to dismiss many western games with great combat systems while judging them for their shortcomings in storytelling or other elements. Dragon Age Veilguard also has a great combat system, but people (rightfully) judged it for its lack of RPG elements. Yet the same rules didnt apply to FF7 Rebirth and Dragons Dogma 2, both of which have good combat systems but little to no Role Playing.

Days Gone is another game. Came out the same year as RE2 and destroyed by critics and mostly ignored by gamers who took aim at the storytelling and memed several cutscenes. But I thought the combat mechanics and especially the horde systems were just as engaging as RE2's smaller scale skirmishes. In terms of story, RE2 is nothing to write home about but Japanese games are always given a pass when it comes to story/plot and storytelling while western games are held to a much higher standard. Fucking Elden Ring doesnt even have a story and no one gives a shit. Sony games like Ragnorak, HFW and Spiderman 2 (All flawed games mind you) at least tried to tell a decent story with some good acting, decent cinematography and a somewhat coherent plot.

I like Japanese games. They are fun to play. But I hate that we act like they are so much better than western games. Or how they have saved gaming this gen. bullshit. This gen sucks ass and its because Japanese developers didnt exactly fill in the huge gaps left by western studios who went all GaaS, cross gen or whatever the fuck Hellblade 2 and Alan Wake 2 are supposed to be.

Well said, everytime i hear japanese\nintendo games are the pinnacle of gameplay i want to bash my head against a wall but gaf really has a boner for japs devs apparently.

I don't think japanese devs would be able to make a game like rdr2 or witcher 3 in 100 years of trying.

HB2 and AW2 are trying to be more than a game, following games such as Sony's first party (or even indie ones).

The best games this gen are remakes, VR and non-AAA (with some notable exceptions, of course).

GaaS, the "Netflix of games", cross-gen (with ballooning costs) and general enshittification made everything worse.

I definitey have, aside from western indies, gimme some good combat with some good art.

Ant they ended up being less, they didn't do anything mind blowing and are far surpassed by gmaes with good stories.

I didn't played a japanese game in 2024 that had more fun combat or was more fun to look at than helldivers2, so...

And yes i played that wet fart of dogma2, such a waste of 45 euros...

Sony games have great combat systems, some like ragnorak have great exploration, puzzles, on top of great storytelling. They are games that are trying to be more than just a video game with a great combat system.

Yes, I wasn't trying to defend those games. And I've yet to play AW2, but everything I've seen and read so far is a turn on. I loved the first one because of its simplicity.

EA Motive ( Dead Space Remake and the upcoming Iron Man Game) is working on the Single Player for Battlefield which is described as a cinematic take on Battlefield. This should be fun.

I hate CoD campaigns and the DICE ones have actually been awful so it's good to see them trust another studio to handle the single player campaign. I am very interested to see how far they take it graphically in single player.
