In all seriousness… why hasn’t Sony remastered Bloodborne?

Honestly at this stage I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some massive fuck up, like when square completely lost the source code to ff8.

Japanstudio helped heavily with blood borne and no longer exist.
As others have pointed out those devs got rebranded as XDev Japan whom have since gone onto make a number of games this gen such as Stella Blade.

The Japan Studio devs that got shutdown were last seen making Knack and Knack 2.

Considering they remade Demons Souls which sold barely anything compared to Bloodborne, at this point I can only imagine they're holding on for a PS6 remake.

I highly doubt its deliberate, and most likely something to do with the contractual relationship with FROM.

Bear in mind, there's no PC version of the Demon's Souls remake either, which really makes it the odd-man-out from the PS5 launch line-up.

Guys, remember how long it took them to do a simple remaster of dark souls, and even then blight town still had horrible frame rate and took several patches until it got fixed?

Bloodborne fans are so weird, they swear by this game like it the second coming, but seems to have a seizure when they remember they are not squeezing every drop of power from Sony hardware.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
ps6 launch title. Have a feeling bluepoint is incharge of the remake.

- Code base is a fu**ing mess, from software was not is nto a good studio in technical terms

These kind of statements need to stop already, because...

They need one dev to patch the frame rate. A fan has already proven that. Theyre done with this game.

The fan's name is Lance McDonald. Without access to the source code, he was able to back port the Dark Souls 3 PS4 Pro patch to Bloodborne, plus a few other minor engine tweaks. You can run Bloodborne at a near perfect 60fps on a jail broken PS4 Pro if you also apply the 720p resolution patch that Lance also made. You can run Bloodborne at a perfect 60fps at 1080p on a jail broken PS5.

All of these allegations that the code base is a mess and can't be fixed is absolute bollocks.

So this patch passed all the certification tests, right? Do you know if patch causes other bugs? Do you know if a possible lookhole was caused by this patch that break other areas of the game? Do you know if the system couses to be stable after this patch? DO you know if is viable to fix this issue, given how the game was sold? Of course not, this fix (masterfully as it is, I've seen a lot of lance's videos) is simply is a PoC, not a viable solution.

And yes, the game code is a mess, we have those horrible popins even in SOTE, it looks like a worst PS2 San Andreas!

Don't be triggered, I was just saying Sony prioritize remaking DEI games over Bloodborne. Bloodborne remake sure would make money especially on PC but unless they unlock transgender dialog options on Bloodborne, Sony just won't remake it imho.

Triggered drama queen just can't help it and need to mention dei even for bloodborne, inserting fake scenarios that don't exist. You need help for your ptsd.

No, it hasn't passed certification or quality, because it hasn't been attempted. My point is if one guy, working without the source code, can get it to a decent enough state, then a small team could take that work and perfect it for relatively low cost and low effort.

Regarding pop-in in Elden Ring, Fromsoft's engine was not designed with massive open worlds in mind. It works just fine for linear games like Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, like it was originally intended.

They don't want to upset from. They want to stay away from the other games. Obviously it's coming this gen.

There has been a from game every year, if not delayed out of that year, this generation. Give it a year or two.

It's always interesting when people put things together that don't make sense.

Demon's Souls is a PS5 launch title, not because they wanted it at launch, but because it was Bluepoint's next project. It released two years after the remake of Shadow of the Colossus.

Bluepoint has never released a game before at launch.

If Bluepoint wants to remake or remaster Bloodborne, there is little to no benefit in waiting for the PS6, if anything it would be cross-gen.

Japanstudio helped heavily with blood borne and no longer exist. That is a largely speculated obstacle. Also it’s highly likely they remake it at some point with blue point maybe for ps6 launch, something like that
Demons souls?

If they remaster it, I wonder if they'll allow you to Save anytime, and add difficulty levels, because that's what the modern audience wants.

Thinking about it, I'm fine with leaving things as they are.

Dear OP, please post your trophies and playtime hours of Bloodborne so that we can verify whether you are entitled to post yet another Bloodborne remaster/remake thread.

Difference is Until Dawn has a movie coming out next year.

Seems like to get an actual remaster/remake, Sony wants to know if the product can be made into a Movie/TV Show at this point... Which is shit.

Ok, but Sony is also working on a BB movie. Whether it ever sees the light of day is anyone's guess, but at least that's their intention.

I wonder this too.

People say Bloodborne's code is messed up etc, but even if it is, how hard can it be to create at least a PS5 patch to Blooborne? To at least increase the resolution.

Isnt it just done by changing a few lines in some files, even is the code is messed up?

Bloodborne looke like shit even on PS5. Worst looking game among any other in terms of graphical fidelity.

There is no way Sony hasn’t noticed how many people have called for an updated version of Bloodborne for many years now. I’d say we absolutely have not seen the last of this game, but Sony will go beyond the remaster treatment and really do it proper. But it’s crazy to think it’s almost been a decade since Bloodborne released.

I think the ones guessing we could see it on the PS6 may be onto something. It would make a great launch title like Demon’s Souls did for the PS5.

It’s probably contract related to how the revenue would have to be split with From. Sony doesn’t expect the game to generate enough revenue to justify the cost. It would probably make more sense to remake it as a PS6 title. The expected profits would be lower because the main objective of the game would be to showcase the new hardware.

Let's be real here. There is no future in Bloodborne for Sony. Bloodborne is a Fromsoft game first, Japan studios game 2nd. Fromsoft ain't making anymore Sony exclusives probably and if they do it will be paid for heavily by Sony. Fromsoft is in heavy demand now. Bloodborne 2 as an exclusive on a Sony machine would be monumental, but the opportunity costs for From to make Elden Ring 2 or something is just too high. I don't think they will go for it.

So all you have is a potential remaster for an IP with no future or a future as a multiplat.

Meanwhile with any of their other IP they could conceivable put that in other hands and end up with a serviceable product. They can build a franchise.

I also suspect modern Sony sees HP Lovecraft as a divisive figure.

It's hard to tell for sure, actually, WHY they seem to dislike the franchise but there are a lot of possibilities.

I personally think the game is the goat but that's just me.

Remember when Sony originally published Demon’s Souls in Japan, thought it was bad, had no faith in it and let other publishers pick it up for a western release? Food for thought.

If Sony wanted to port this to PS5/PC they would’ve greenlit it by now. Will they eventually rerelease it? Maybe, maybe not. But it's kind of obvious to me that it isn’t an important value proposition to them right now.

The moment you bring up Japan Studio is the moment you're wrong (in the case of bolded, utterly wrong), but even if we assumed that Japan Studio had any significant role into the creation of Bloodborne that wasn't your standard production work, nothing has stopped Sony from porting games made by closed studios in the past; see Yarudora Portable (Sugar & Rockets) on PSP or Wipeout Omega Collection (Studio Liverpool) on PS4, for example.

Death Stranding Director's Cut on PS5 was a thing.

This is a true possibility, but I personally don't see a remaster being too much for the team. And that's, of course, assuming that it would be made by an external studio (either From itself or some porting company out there), because Nixxes could do it on its own.
Nothing stops Sony except for manpower, they were all busy pursuing the gold at the end of the rainbow, so the only studio that would have performed such task would be Japan Studio, that's how I see it

I wouldn’t be surprised if it has already been remade or is in development. Bluepoint has been very quiet.

I just think that with as long as these tent pole Sony titles are taking to make that the company has to be very strategic with when they choose to talk about their pipeline.

Hell, it’s worked for Nintendo — people lost their minds last week over the mediocrity that is a Xenoblade Chronicles X remake after this year’s ho hum releases of Super Mario Wonder and Zelda Zelda.

To put it clear and simple...
That operation of Japan that helped with 3rd parties still exists though, through Xdev Japan.
It's not a thing of manpower, but rather of interest.

Souls games are megahits today, not ten years ago. They exploded with DS3. So, saying that Bloodborne wouldn't sell is quite the hot take. Demons Souls is a very different game, taking that as a reference is nonsense.

Bloodborne remastered will be a PS6 launch title if no major studio has anything ready, which seems the most likely, given the state of their current projects.

Sony won't touch the IP without From's involvement since nobody at PS Studios is capable of expanding the IP without dropping the quality to embarrassing levels.

In any case, the Dutch clown and his minions won't even entertain the idea, because they only invest big in cinematic games and GaaS. Pleasing fans is a concept foreign to them.

on to them right now.

I understand why, though. That game went against all gaming conventions.
