B580 has 12GB of VRAM and edges an RTX 4060 for a $250 USD. It performs phenomenally in content creation, has all the necessary features and capabilities, XeSS is constantly getting better, and the drivers are only improving.
I know there are elitists that will balk at this and say “yawn, let me know when it beats a 5090 for $500”… but let’s take a moment to applaud what Intel has been able to achieve in a short amount of time, through turbulent market conditions no less. They created a competitive GPU division from nothing and are slowly catching up to companies with decades of R&D invested.
I think with it and more focus on this segment from AMD, things are looking great for PC gaming.
To me, PC isn’t all about high end performance. It’s about options. I especially don’t believe that high end gaming is all that special nowadays as Path Tracing, etc., while nice, don’t make a game fun, and are too expensive for what you get from it. That mid-range sweet spot is perfect for getting 90% of the experience for a fraction of the cost.
