It's already late October and Nintendo still hasn't given any hints about the reveal of the Switch's successor.

You can look at the glass however you want, it is still factually not late October in any way, shape, or form.
If it was indeed late October and Nintendo hadn't revealed anything, this could be perceived as a bad sign, a sign they won't reveal anything anytime soon. Hence the glass half empty perspective.

Maybe the OP is future proofing his thread, it'll be late October i a few weeks.

He'll look a right cunt if they announce it next week mind

Forget about useless journalists who would have you believe that they've got information hidden away or that it's bound to be September if we follow the companies' history.

The two morons like Dring and Robinson have absolutely nothing to say.

He was using history as a guide. In a console transition like this, trying to predict reveal dates, history should be no guide at all. It will 💯 % lead you astray.

The fact of the matter is, October 2024 for a formal reveal is just as good a guess as January 2025, given it’s not coming before March 2025. One could make good arguments for both.

I've said this multiple times already but they won't self-sabotage the holidays sales with such announcement. The sole reason they didn't care about announcing Switch 1 in October last time was because they already dropped Wii U by then and didn't care about its faith those holidays and rather focused on the future. They projected 13M for current Switch, they can't pull that back to stakeholders by saying "Sry but we announced a new console and people decided to wait and not buy more Switches hehe, don't blame us"

Might as well pre-queue up the where is the switch 2 announcement thread for November, December, January and February while we are at it.

Most of us agree that the switch launch was pretty much perfect in every regard.

I think we’re forgetting the effect it had on 3DS though, especially after the 2016 reveal.

Switch sales are already plummeting, they’ll want another good Christmas period for Swicth.

Wouldn’t be surprised at a reveal first week of Jan.

Thing is if they're serious about having abundant stock at launch you can't expect to reveal it that close to release since you'll miss your chance to control the information space seeing how it'll be leaked to hell before that.

I say all Alarmos worldwide will suddenly show a timer + barcode that leads to a website where Switch 2 will be announced after the timer has run out.

I used to be very excited for Switch 2 announcement, and the games that would come for it. My posting history will support this.

Now though, I’m convinced that Nintendo is waiting to maximize Switch 1 sales. I also think there is something about Switch 2, that they are afraid to say. My guess is, it is NOT FULLY BC.

I am sure Switch 2 will be successful. I also think there is a good chance that Switch 2 either has Xcloud or PlayStation streaming. But the fact remains, I think they lost some momentum waiting so long to announce.

Right now though, I am very much enjoying watching all these insiders melting down and being proven wrong on the things they were saying.

While I am sure they do know somethings about Switch Successor, I think Nintendo has done a really good job of keeping the secrets from getting out.

If October comes and goes without an announcement, all these insiders will be burnt. It will be over for them. Haha

Completely boggles my mind how anyone expected a single word from Nintendo about Switch 2 right before a Switch 1 holiday season.

Somehow I feel many of these people will feel surprised, disappointed, and learn nothing for next time this situation happens.

I have been flogged for saying this for well over a year.

If Nintendo is withholding info to maximize Switch 1 sales, why is it necessary for there to be some other reason they are quiet such as something they are "afraid" to tell us, and how does the timing affect them doing it now vs early next year? Probably none whatsoever, other than a small uptick in Switch 1 sales if 2 is not BC...and Switch 1 sales would be the main reason not to announce yet.

In short I don't like your theory lol.

I believe they think if they say “buy the way, Switch 2 is not fully bc, it could affect Switch 1 software sales negatively”.

I believe they will sit quiet until January or so.

I see the very existence of Switch 2 affecting Switch 1 sales extremely negatively. If it's not BC, then it affects Switch 1 sales slightly less negatively, not more....lol

Edit: Oh I see, you're talking about software as well, I was only thinking systems. So in other words, if Switch 1 games won't work on Switch 2 people might buy less because they aren't forward-compatible, and might just wait to get a newer version instead or whatever. There's no guarantee there will be any performance difference for old games if it is BC, and people already own Switch, and usually want games like Zelda today not next year, so it's a reasonable take but still doubt this is what's going on.

Basically the number of Switch 1 sales Nintendo stands to lose by revealing Switch 2 at all absolutely dwarfs the Switch 1 sales they stand to lose over this BC theory.

This might have been an issue if i wasn't drowning in new switch games to play. Always amusing watching people sperg out because they want the next new thing and Nintendo are not ready so they stamp and cry online about it like kids.

Seriously. Let's drop a new Zelda game and announce our new system at the same fucking time lol.

I know we’re all eager to know about Switch 2 details, but why would you want to know this badly 5-7+ months before launch? Wouldn’t that just make the wait even worse?

I’d rather have an extremely small gap between unveil and release. Like 2 months.

It’s looking grim..

Nintendo has their 6 months earnings release on November 5 including a Q&A. So at the very least we should get another mention of “Switch 2” from Nintendo by then - even if it’ll probably be something vague (assuming they don’t show it before then).

Yeah, they have to say something then. Especially if Switch is slowing down globally, which I believe it is. They have to assure investors there is something to look forward to..

If it’s not shown this week my guess is that #Team2024 has lost.

It’s just weird, anyway. Because if they don’t reveal it before New Year’s, that just cements that it’s coming ~April-June ‘26. And if that’s the case, why would we want to know about Switch 2 now, and then have this awful, horrid wait for the next 6-8 months? We don’t benefit from that, and Nintendo doesn’t, either.

They should wait til January or February to announce it if it indeed is Q2 2025, which is seeming more and more likely at this point. And what’s wrong with that? There’s so many games right now, on hardware we all already own.

They are stretching the switch lifetime because they already have an all time seller on their hands. Another console is another risk and it might seem unnecessary to do so when the Switch is already capable of running the games Nintendo wants to run on it, FPS and resolution be damned

Nintendo fans are so refreshing compared to the Pro wars threads…

Unfortunately, I agree with your thought process because we are talking about Nintendo here. If I were in their shoes, I would ride that gravy train until the wheels fall off because plenty of Switches and games are still being sold daily.

I'm a Nintendo fan too and believe it or not, I prefer a respectful conversation over something heated. In the console wars threads, if someone is rage-baiting and being a jerk, I'll sometimes indulge them.
