"It's fantastic": Phil Spencer praises The Last of Us series and Neil Druckmann's work on the production

I can see him taking over Herman Hulst job one day.

Maybe someone else at ND not Druckmann. Even someone like Jade Raymond as someone joked earlier would probably be a better fit to run SIE. She’s well liked and great at management and has an all around better understanding of the overall business, they’d want a non-creative to run it, like Hermen.

Hermen I could see replacing Jimbo

When I watched the show I was floored by how accurate it felt, they even made you feel the vibe of the muddy PS3 wall textures somehow. I'm not even being sarcastic or implying that means low-quality -that's just where I happened to play the game but I still said "wow it looks just like the muddy textures I remember!"

In a real life show, that's fucking authenticity man

Is it just me, or did Neil sound like he, in a recent interview, is possibly quietly hinting about moving on from the series? I mean, he did admit that Uncharted is already over, but he doesn't seem sure where he can take The Last of Us.

Maybe he's worried it will become way too commercial and silly like Capcom's RE games, which I did say in the past ain't a good sign if he were to start milking it.

Its clear he’s currently working on a new IP from all the interviews. TLOU3 might be in early production

Man gives ONE interview. Then people on GAF split it into 4-5 topics and then whine about the man giving too many interviews.

Will never not be funny.
Man gives almost every day an interview, come on. Why the same is not happening with Ryan? Phill is everywhere talking about everything “even about Sony”. Every other day there is something new from him (I mean new blah blah blah).

Loved both eps. Shit could happen. And the (can't remember the word atm) fact that all these fungal strains are connected and in communication is mind shatteringly scary. Banter is great. No long drawn out drama etc. Guess there's hope after all.

I'd rather Neil work on new things. Anyone can run an existing franchise into the ground, right?

It's the same IGN interview.

Why the same is not happening with Ryan?

He gives fewer interviews? So?
Not to mention there's much less obsession with Ryan as there is with Phil, so you don't see his interviews broken up into 5 - 6 threads.

Phill is everywhere talking about everything “even about Sony”.

He replies to questions interviewers ask him. If you bothered to read the OP, you'd see he was asked about the success of TLOU

Every other day there is something new from him (I mean new blah blah blah).

Everywhere else, people put the whole interview in one thread. Hardly his fault y'all like to make one thread per paragraph

Riveting news. Next you're gonna be making threads about Phil Spencer farting in an elevator or walking down the street to buy a newspaper.

Phil Spencer is a Sony fanboy. I bet he's straight onto his playstation when hes done working everyday. You just know he wanted to put a ps logo up on that shelf of his next to his switch.

Yes, exactly, he talks less but do more.

He always do that…anyway.

I see.

What's he supposed to say? That he hasn't seen the biggest tv show in the world when it's based on a product created in the industry in which he is a major player?

Should he say the show sucks when it has universal praise and acclaim?

Personally, he probably understands that the difference between Halo and TLOU came down to the leadership difference between him and Jim Ryan.

Microsoft had Amblin Entertainment produce Halo. They got Amblin to produce it and Paramount+ to distribute it. The fact is, Amblin has a mixed record when it comes to tv and Paramount+ was basically a death knell. Paramount also owns Showtime and Showtime network also produced this. The show wa originally meant to be on Showtime, until they saw that it was shit.

Showtime is really struggling and has fallen entirely behind HBO and the other networks and STILL didn't want Halo on their network. Has anyone even heard of Showtime Now?

Out of curiosity how did people expect him to respond? Or Jim if say the halo show was as publicly loved?

Of course they are gonna make these exact responses.

That’s great Phil. Maybe try the same level of care and attention when overseeing the next XBox adaptation, so you don’t get a repeat of that Halo shit.

Man, the show is really picking up and I only see it getting better. I just watched episode 3, and what happened to Frank and Bill was really sad. I'm surprised that a lot of aspects of the game have been altered considerably, but I think if they outright copied everything scene-for-scene from the game, it would be too predictable.

No spores, though. Hmmm. 💊

In other news, I learned today that the actress who portrayed Tess in the game has sadly died following a battle with cancer. :(

The problem with Halo is it looks goofy as fuck.

The characters are the most bizarre looking things, trying to get that into a live action show/movie and make is look good along with a decent story is a hugely tall order and one that hasnt paid off for the Halo TV show.

What are you on about? You think Phil is asking certain gaffers to start threads about his interviews?

I know some of you have a weird hate boner for Spencer, but he's living rent free in your heads.

Nah, he is living on rent free Threads in Gaf.

Episode 4 has this military guy with a beard, and I swear that he should have played Tommy Miller as he actually looks and sounds like him. LOL. :D
