In American society, your actual heritage matters less than being able to physically pass and get a card into the club that is "whiteness," because "white" is as much an assimilating term as it is an ethnic one. If JonTron never said anything about his heritage one would be none the wiser.
Yeah, it's really hard to use a 'I'm just scared of whites being mistreated' defense when you went on for an hour about minorities and how nobody would ever want to be one.

I'm confused by "They aren't racist, they just endorse a racist". Like, just because you don't hate brown people, if you stand by and support a guy that very vocally does, you are just as bad. You are contributing to the same end result. Do you think the people that are in danger of being kicked out of the country right now, or the muslims/mexicans/immigrants/jews constantly living in fear of being attacked, either verbally or physically, care that you only voted for Trump because you wanted your coal job back? The social issues were the absolute crux of this election season. You can't separate those things. Groups of people decided that this fantasy of getting their jobs back from China or India was more important than the well being of their fellow Americans. And that absolutely speaks to their character. It doesn't absolve them of shit. Standing by and doing nothing while a man who normalizes racism trucks his way to the White House, and worse yet, in your words "endorsing" said man, it's reprehensible.
I could understand your argument if there was something hidden or clouded about Trump's racist/fascist intentions. But there wasn't. He gained prominence on the national political scene with the racist "birther" nonsense. He kicked off his campaign by calling Mexican immigrants "rapists and criminals" and vowing to build a wall to keep brown people out. He multiple times during his campaign called to ban all Muslims from entering the country. He curried favor with and associated with multiple racist groups and individuals, like Bannon or Stephen Miller. When gaining support from abhorrent groups like the Alt-Right or the KKK, he never denounced them. The writing was on the wall, clear as day for everyone to see. These were the preeminent, dominant issues that his campaign was built around, so if people that still, despite all that, supported him, voted for him, and are now angry that they are being labeled as racist, well too fucking bad. You lay with dogs, you get fleas.

No one needs to educate you on white voters and racism in 2020 because this has nothing to do with white voters and racism in 2020.

It is reprehensible, absolutely. And a lot of them are feeling the voters remorse right this moment. Especially with Healthcare. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. They got the grand prize.
My point is this- As much as it sucks, a lot of these people are the ones we need to target in the 2020 election season. It's just truth. I'm not defending them, I'm saying campaign to them and earn their vote. My father is a Trump voter. He's dumb as a fucking box of rocks. But he also raised me to respect everyone. EQUALLY.

Your father should practice what he preaches. Voting for a man who demonizes minority groups the way Trump's rhetoric has is not "respecting everyone". And the onus should not be on the people being oppressed to be nice and cordial to the people doing the oppressing (and your father, by virtue of voting for Trump, in this case is doing just that). That's not how progress has ever worked. The Civil Rights protests in the 1960s weren't comprised of people simply being nice to all of the racists, making these as comfortable for them as possible. Otherwise Rosa Parks doesn't occur, the sit-ins don't occur. Part of that dialogue is calling out racism when you see it, and racist behavior, and if that hurts the feelings of the people acting racist, so be it. The onus is on them to change, or for us to drag them toward progress kicking and screaming.

"White" was basically a concept made up by the bourgeois centuries ago to prevent indentured and poor whites and enslaved blacks from realizing they were on the same side economically and socially and revolting together. It characterized the ruling class as a sort of standard that lower-class whites could live up to- gave them a taste of power- and thus racial divisions occurred.
Once you understand this, every racial issue in America logically follows: You understand why different European groups like the Irish and Italians were forced to leave behind the depths of their cultures for the security of being considered "white." You understand why Asians even tried at all to legally argue in court that they too should be considered "white." As a result of this attempt at assimilating all of these different cultures and peoples down into this one thing called "whiteness" or "white culture," you understand why even most white people can't actually tell you what "white culture" is, a peculiar problem not faced by ethnic minorities like black people, Latino groups, Asians, and natives.
You understand why white people will, on average, see other poor whites (like those unfortunate coal miners) as undeserving victims of an unfair system while poor blacks are just lazy welfare queens and poor Latinos are all illegals who are undermining proper work standards and diluting the gene pool. You understand why the nearly free land and money grants given to white people by the government throughout this country's history are not considered welfare, while welfare initiatives that work to include minorities too are indicative of "handouts" and "entitlements" that they don't deserve. You understand why white people love the ACA but hate Obamacare. You understand why white people overwhelmingly voted for Trump while most other ethnic minorities- even those who face the exact same kind of economic dead ends that poor white people do- voted the other way regardless.
And finally, you understand why people who look white regardless of them actually being of Iranian descent like JonTron will basically throw themselves on the spear and turn their backs on who they really are to defend whiteness. Because ultimately, "white" means power, and the long and short of it is people don't want to give up their power.

I don't know the full story between ethan and jon, but maybe it's hard to make a public video shitting on one of your best friends? It's way easier when you want to defend these friend, if you have the same opinion... but here maybe he disagree with him, but doesn't want to shit on a friend, that's why he doesn't do any video about it?
