Kratos Could Finally Be Heading To Egypt

Gow 2018 was amazing with perfect pace and great buildup. Ragnarok improved a lot gameplay wise but they simply botched the latter half of the game, it felt rushed and the bosses especially Thor didn't live up to the expectations.

Still a great game with great worlds and fantastic gameplay, the DLC was amazing too

Should have kept it two parts and made a trilogy. I think Thor was fine. But Thor could have been the main villain for the 2nd game and Odin the 3rd game. I think they could have introduced more gods in general.

Great news, now we don't even have to worry about little shit anymore, he is following his own adventures.

Now they only need to get rid of that bullshit one shot camera stuff and zoom out the camera a little.

Looking forward to how beautiful Egypt can be in a modern game. I still return to AC origins simply because of what an amazing job they've done building the world.

For the people who want angry Kratos back, didn't they try that with Ascension - which resulted in lower sales and put the ip on ice.

I'd have preferred South American but Egypt is good too.

SSM should try and take reasonable risks and evolve the ip again, it's the only way to keep it relevant.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he went to Egypt in the comics or novels. This was during his travel from Greece to Midgard. If so, we could be looking at some sort of presequel set between the Greek and Norse sagas. This would be interesting because we could see Kratos' change from a raging, vengeance-filled god to his more wise and level-headed old self. This also means no Atreus, which is always a plus.

Wonder if he’ll sport this facial hair?

Bored of the shaggy beard now

The end of Ragnarok basically wrapped up Kratos' journey as the God of "War". What incentive would he have to return to that life and go all the way to Egypt?

Some Egyptian god brutally kills Atreus right at the start and he says "screw it" and reverts back to old Kratos on a revenge mission. Would be a dream come true.

Not even sure I care at this point.

Liked 2 and I consider 3 to be one of the very best games ever made.

2018 was good but sort of also ruined what made God of War so great whilst Ragnarok was awful.

So yeah, unless it's more like the older games, I can't even be excited here.

I was thinking they could do a prequel, but it would be somewhat of a retcon given there's no mention of his time there by anyone and they seem to know exactly who Kratos is and what he has done and they make no mention of Egypt.

In Valhalla he agrees to become the Norse God of War.

Someone needs to kill Atreus for this to happen

Someone please kill Atreus
I find it funny that for both GoW franchises, one of them wants the son to die so that Kratos can become angry again, yet for the other GoW, most people want JD Fenix to live, denying us "Punished" rage-fueled Marcus Fenix.

If they want to save the franchise, they need to let the players kill Atreus and then make Kratos fucking angry again and go back to the God of War 3 style of play. Let Kratos kill the "camera man", which they masturbated over in God of War 2018.

You mean Isis? Cause Cleopatra ain’t a goddess last I checked.

And she probably wasn’t ethnically Egyptian.
She doesn't have to be a goddess. Kratos smashed many humans along his original series that weren't goddesses, but mistresses to certain Gods.

According to a new report, Sony is “likely” working on a brand-new God of War game set in Egyptian mythology. This information comes from Daniel Richtman, a well-known source for insider scoops in entertainment, who shared the news through a post on his Patreon

"Likely"

So it's still bullshit speculation then

Also, hey Sony, make a new fucking IP for christs sake

I'd be fine with a soft retcon. After all, a lot has been retconned after GOW 2005. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades look nothing alike in GOW and GOW III. They also left his time between Midgard and Egypt quite vague. I think Barlog said something about him traveling there by boat. There is enough unknown to do something in Egypt without butchering the lore.

Otherwise, it'd have to be a sequel to Ragnarok and I'm not sure how much I'd like it. Will play it regardless, but I think someone between raging and wise Kratos would be cool to see.

GOW is done , love the IP but Kratos os tired.

Angry Kratos is dead, Dad Kratos os tired and old

The only stuff that can get an interesting plot is Kratos dies and a new God od war emerges, so this gives chance for more GOW games plus Atreus seeking revenge.

Kratos has nothing to do in Egypt or other place.

Wants protagonists to make his peepee soft
Please tie things together and don't make it feel like another soft reboot, make Greek and Norse events having impact on other mythologies (eg: Anubis having some sort of relation with Hades and Hel).
Have a fucking war declared, because Kratos is slaying all pantheons and with that the age of gods are coming to an end.

It doesn't have to be that complicated, we just need a raging protagonist going against hordes of creatures and gods again.

The Ptolemy reign was almost THREE HUNDRED YEARS old round the time of Cleopatra, in what way is she not Egyptian?

I figure KRATOS will die and Atreus will go to Egypt to spring him from the Afterlife, probably by having to go through Hel or the Underworld so we get a little Greek flair in there as well.

I'm curious how many deities we'll get that don't look like they originated from the Mediterranean basin population at the time. Bonus if they go with Assyrian based stuff.

I said "ethnically". Cleopatra was reportedly the first Ptolemy to speak Egyptian, so that makes them very much not Egyptian. They were also largely inbred and mostly of Greek stock. Cleopatra's mom is unknown and might have been Egyptian. That's why I said "probably".

Ascension lacked the big spectacle fights the series was known for, and I think that hurt the game a bit. Especially coming off the insane God of War 3.

Obivous choice, I'd be down for it. However they need to open up their levels, I'm tired of all their invisible walls.
