It's hilarious how people can't actually put the effort in to researching their sources. The Examiner, when it comes to Gaga, is not a reliable source at all. Didn't any of you learn basic critical appraisal techniques in school? :biblio:

Anyway, the album just went platinum in Canada and Gaga is serving up some Stevie Nicks realness as she accepts her award.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.

Could someone PLEASE post the EXAMINER sourced news article AGAIN?

Anyway, she did a good interview with MSN Canada.

http://ladygaganow.net/?p=12462

The video for Do What U Want is "longer than usual" and features R. Kelly. Gaga said it was powerful.

She also confirmed that Trakstar will be added to the app in a few months and will allow you to use all the stems from the ARTPOP album to create new songs and music. GagaTV will allow her to directly send videos and new music to the users of the app.

She also said the tour is going to be a "rollercoaster through her life" and "explosive and fun".

She talked about maybe putting out an "Act 2" of ARTPOP before she tours. She was originally going to split the album between more commercial tracks and more experimental tracks but that's not the case anymore.

Gaga already confirmed on LM.com that the article is fake, so...

Well, duh. Who'd spend 25 million bucks to market ANY album that isn't called Thriller?

That said, what's the best place to watch the meltdown now that the album has... underperformed? I'm particularly interested in Madonna fans gloating, the feud with Kate Perry fans just isn't as entertaining.

Yeah I really can't get behind Jewels and Drugs. It's not really her song, it just feels like she's featuring on it. It's odd. She needs to own something if she's going to start dipping into other genres.

Said it because people kept repeatedly posting the article to drag her.

And probably twitter.

Bloomber Business Week said:
Interscope Records (VIV:FP) spent about $25 million promoting the album, culminating in an over-the-top “artRave” event at Brooklyn’s Navy Yard on the night of ARTPOP‘s Nov. 11 release.

Despite all the fanfare, ARTPOP isn’t selling. The album sold just over 250,000 copies in its first week, putting it behind Katy Perry’s Prism (286,000 copies) and Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz (270,000 copies)—far below the expected 350,000 sales touted before its release.

Is this fake also fellow monsters??

For contrast: Madonna's own MDNA album sold 359,000 copies during its debut week last year.

Did you literally just post a link to yet another copy-paste-edit of the Examiner article and ask us if it were fake?

And yes, MDNA did sell more. It was also on sale following a Superbowl performance and copies of that shitheap were attached to every concert ticket sale which also bloated her sales (I won't deny BTW was also artificially inflated but you brought up MDNA). Which, when considering a legacy act like Madonna, works more so in her favour. Especially since the biggest criticism of the MDNA tours were......MDNA.

Sis, I even highlighted the sales figures for you. Are the sales figures for Katy Perry’s Prism (286,000 copies) and Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz (270,000 copies) also fake???

Oh that's right. Monsters will continue to live in their own monster world where fantasy and reality are one and the same, much like their fave.

I didn't debate the sales but I thought you were talking about the article hence why you linked it :/

Let's get this out of the way: Manicure, Jewels & Drugs and Dope are practically unlistenable (Dope definitely is).

That being said, this is another downright addictive synth pop album from Lady Gaga. I was disappointed upon my first few listens, but when it clicked, it clicked big time. I must have listened to the album 50 times already, lol - and I'm not even a pop music "connoisseur", far from it: my tastes range from power metal (Iced Earth, Rage, Grave Digger, Helloween) to classic rock/prog (post-folk period Dylan, Macca, Kansas, Roxy Music, Genesis), Radiohead and video game music (old school Castlevania/Ys/Mega Man/Ninja Gaiden/Tecno Soft), though I have had a few Michael Jackson phases over the years.

Moving along, here are my song rankings, from best to worst:

1. Applause (I'm surprised this isn't more appreciated by GaGAF: it's a cracking song!)
2. G.U.Y

3. Donatella
4. Venus
5. Aura (did a 180 on that one: hated it at first, now I love it)
6. Mary Jane Holland

7. Gypsy (maybe a bit generic sounding, but saved by the nice "I'mimimimim a gypsy" part)
8. Do What U Want (not a good single choice + R.Kelly brings it down a bit (I'm not a big R&B fan))
9. Artpop
10. Fashion! (her delivery is actually reminiscent of Bowie on that one; don't hear it in Venus like others have mentioned though)
11. Swine

12. Sexxx Dreams (listenable but nothing special; many in this thread seem to love it, but I don't get why (yet?))

13. Jewels & Drugs (HATE modern rap, though FWIW Too $hort used to be one of my faves in his Shorty The Pimp/Get In Where You Fit In/Cock Tales days)
14. Manicure (annoying as hell...)
15. Dope (boring/faux-emotional as hell...)

P.S. The bottom three songs join Teeth, Brown Eyes, Speechless and You and I as the only songs of hers I profoundly dislike.

I think the version of Sexxx Dreams from the Itunes festival was much better than the one on the album.

I don't like chorus on the album, its too busy.

My first impressions are definitely mixed, nothing quite gripped me on a first listen like her previous albums (Gypsy came closest). It might be a slow grower, but at this point it hasn't left as positive an impression as even Born This Way, feels like even more of a whimsical grab bag.

Yeah, I think the first two choruses in the studio version should have been less busy like the live one, and then the final chorus brings in the layered vocals. Honestly that's the only major disappointment to me as far as the Swinefest songs go.

So does Rocket Punch posts about anything but hating Gaga? It's borderline creepy...

Pretty sure she's on Madonna's payroll.

Artpop is definitely the best song on Artpop.

Honorable mentions...
-Applause
-Donatella
-G.U.Y.
-Swine
-Venus

Jewels n' Drugs and Dope are not my thing at all.

Jewels n Drugs, ARTPOP and Fashion! are the only tracks from ARTPOP that have persisted as songs I'll regularly listen to.

Jewels n Drugs is a marvelous throwback to Gaga's meager beginnings in this industry as a hook girl. That GAF doesn't understand it is testament to its greatness. Long Live Jewels n' Drugs!

It's either Mary Jane Holland or Donatella or GUY for the best songs on the album.

Artpop is good, and Applause is good but gypsy sucks, jewels n drugs sucks, sexxx dreams is ok, swine is ok, aura is ok, fashion sucks, dope is terrible, venus is really good but not quite as good as those 3, do what you want meh, manicure meh

She seriously needs a new graphic designer. I volunteer myself, and I guarantee no drop shadows or bad typography.

Good thing I checked this thread, was just about to get tix for the Roseland Ballroom. I love the venue and the performances there will definitely be more intimate (and boozy) but I'm going to try and go to the MSG one instead since I can take my daughter with me.

I'm going to the final Roseland Ballroom show. I'd love to go to MSG again -- I saw the Monster Ball there -- but I don't want to pay for two sets of tickets.

Wow, finally some reasonable ticket prices!

I'll be going to the San Antonio show, $85 reserved. Hopefully the seating isn't shit. Can't wait!!!

I am going to HAVE to get tickets to this. Missed her last couple of concerts but I have a feeling this will be next level

Yeah...still think I'm going to one of the Roseland Ballroom shows. Two of my older friends are going and keep trying to convince me (though it doesn't take much, really). Would love to be there for the final show but they got tix to what used to be the final one before they added more.

Nah I'm getting massive budget cut teas from this tour especially with the price tickets
and the poster
. Don't expect another castle

The Born This Way Ball looked low-budget though. The castle was huge but it looked like some barren abandoned mansion.

This should be cool though. I'm imagining Koons sculptures everywhere ala ArtRAVE.

Kinda getting the same teas tbh, but I think she will make the most of it. The ARTrave promo show she did was great and it didn't look that high budget.

What size places is she booking? Same as last tour?
