Laura Fryer - Navigating Toxic Positivity - a remminder about Concord's failure

I'm no web expert, but I'd have difficulty investing in a company with a website with broken links or blank information. Firewalk's parent company looks incredibly fake. There is no information at all on the site. This shit is hilarious.

PSA: there is an ignore button. You don't have to publicly argue with certain people who clearly have not watched the video and are arguing in bad faith.

Because it’s very, very funny. A big corporation pissing billions down the drain due to their idiotic business practises is a fantastic story.
I hear ya but it’s not the first big budget game to fail and it won’t be the last. I just feel like people should have moved on from this game by now.

He’s not lying though. Most of them are over rated.I used to wonder what all the fours was about….. finally bought their games when they came to PC and somehow I just always seem to have something else I want to play more first. I don’t even know when I’m gonna play horizon or god of war yet I bought them with a tonne of enthusiasm… once I got em….. I just carried on playing armoured core and COD. I have death starnding on gamepass….. it’s a snore fest. Glad I never paid any money for that game

As a hardcore PlayStation fan, I am SO happy that Concord failed.
Next I want to see the pc initiative fail commercially so that PS focuses on their console and exclusives. we need that "Only On PlayStation" label back

That is unfortunately never happening. Because Sony's primary goal is to maximise profit, rather than maximise game development. I think the days of them allowing a game to be designed purely to run on their single console are very much over. The PC market is simply too large to ignore. The problem long term is that once you push out into another audience, you also drive a lot of your existing audience in the same direction, because you're not giving them a reason to stick with you.

FFS can we please let this game die already? It came out, it died, the end. Doesn't Astro Bot have new content coming? Didn't Spiderman 2 just get a PC port announced?

There's a lot more going on in PlayStation news, what's the point in pissing on the corpse of Concord?

Because it's a zombie, not just a corpse.

Okay, now I have watched the full video. I think she gives very sincere advice to the individual who asked the question.

But her approach requires a conscious mind that is constantly introspecting and reflecting about one's work and career.

This is way beyond what people who made Concord could do, those people simply didn't have such capability.

Even if there were people who did realize things weren't all good, they were afraid to bring feedback because of the fear of getting cancelled and losing job.

There is simply no solution for that studio.

100% in agreement.

When mired in this modern toxic rot, I never really did consider how restrictive these projects are from the creatives perspective.

Can anyone imagine what it would be like to work on a project surrounded by these ideologues? Every good or interesting idea shot down because it is 'problematic' for some inexplicable reason. It really is difficult to stand out when all you are left to work with is the equivalent of bland, passionless gruel.

I wasn't disagreeing, just thought it might be something that a few people might find triggering around here.

I played a few of the big PS games when I got a PS5 and found it difficult to see why they were so revered. Particularly Horizon YAWN

Sounds like Western studios are run like Resetera. Don't forget if you give this kind of feedback, there's a good chance the offended members will put your name and face on the internet as some raging bigot that's hard to work with, ruining your reputation.
I was going to go into this industry at one point but am constantly reminded to be glad I did not.

Skimmed your long-winded ramble, No it's not Sony's fault. It's not about a vacuum. It's about negativity selling across the internet. It's not exclusive to video games.

Anything to not lay blame on Sony, huh? 😉😂

Many of Sonys games are not good and do quite well based on their treatment. I’ll start, the recent God of War games.

This is objectively false and the vast majority would disagree. And this is one of the cases where the majority would be right.

I might be a mummed about their big games being safer sequels and remakes, but you don't consistently sell 10+, 20+ million copies of story-driven games without them being pretty high-quality all things considered.

Because it's a zombie, not just a corpse.

Really don't know how that is happening. Obviously must be offline updates, but still :/

It was not always like this, it started to become worst the moment they began including more and more woke shit

Genuine question: do you know how to talk about anything related to creative decisions outside of using terms like "woke"? Because it sounds really corny when you keep saying it.
