Personally i cant wait to see AW2 in performance mode on the Pro and to play outlaws, fully patched in november on the Pro aswell. Those games looks horrible in performance mode on base PS5

Oh and Callisto Protocoll for sure, another playthrough. Also delaying my DA playthrough a week to start it on the Pro

Hopefully, we see Black Myth: Wukong soon. 1080p/60 with PSSR upscaled to 1440p for Performance Mode without frame generation should be doable. It would be much better than the abomination that is the current Performance Mode.
If it's patched to be Pro Enhanced, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be 4K 60fps with increased IQ, based on the modes it offers on PS5 currently and the other Pro patches.

The base version is 1080p with frame generation to hit 60 in performance mode. It means natively, it's at around 1080p/40. How exactly are you getting 4K60?

Quality Mode
The quality mode is perhaps the most straightforward, with roughly 1440p internal resolutions (we measured 1224p to 1584p) upscaled to 4K with FSR 3. This looks convincingly 4K-like in stills, but can come undone in motion - something that's traditionally not FSR's strong suit.

Performance mode
Performance mode is even weirder, as it uses the same fixed 1080p internal image, but the image has an incredibly strong sharpening filter that makes it look extremely crunchy, with a deep-fried look. Performance mode is also the only mode to use FSR 3 frame generation, which allows it to target 60fps - and achieve it most of the time, despite some (better-than-PC) traversal stutters and hard drops to 40fps in demanding scenes.

The PS5 Pro seems to be blending Performance and Fidelity modes, not sure if it will work here, but I wouldn't be surprised. The 4K would obviously be upscaled using PSSR.

The issue is that most games don't use frame generation, which throws the usual upgrade out of whack.

AMD recommends frame generation at 60fps and above, but those guys toggled it on at 30-40fps and the end result is a 60fps game with laggier controls than a 30fps game. The consoles don't have something like Reflex in their SDK to mitigate the lag brought about by frame generation. If they do combine Performance and Quality Mode, then you'd just get Quality Mode with the laggy feel of Performance Mode. I'd much rather they get rid of frame gen entirely, use 1080p and aim for 60fps without frame generation, and enable PSSR to hit a 1440p output. That would be perfect. You get a much cleaner image than the base game (likely comparable to Quality Mode anyway, even without outputting to 4K) but also the feel and response time of 60fps.

I agree its slightly different than most games that have been enhanced so far. It'll be interesting to see what happens, if at all..

Really not getting my hopes up for this one. The dev seems unfamiliar with all of those things. There has been a myriad of complaints about the IQ and input lag on consoles, but they haven't said a word about it. The Balanced Mode is bizarrely caped at 45fps which is beyond dumb, when it should have been capped at 40. If it had been the case, it would have been the best mode by a wide margin. Some speculate that since they are a mobile dev, this is an old habit of theirs as there are many 90Hz phone screens and 45fps on a 90 Hz screen would make sense, but there are no 90Hz TVs. As it stands, none of the modes are really good.

It will benefit uncapped only my friend unfortunately 🥹

RDR2 stranded also is a travesty.
I kinda knew deep down but I had a faint glimmer of hope that they might include it just to make this thing more attractive to the Souls Crowd. Demon's Souls already runs and looks perfectly in performance mode on PS5, couldn't care less about any enhancements for that.

Was kind of hoping to see Ghost of Tsushima there. Hopefully they do some Pro improvements soon. I won't complain about it looking even more breathtaking.

Good times when we actually had news games to play instead of remake and remasters.

Yeah the PS4 had dickall to play at launch (What that picture shows)
also there's plenty to play on PS5 that's not a remaster, it's just mostly not from Sony might I suggest Astrobot ;)

The unspoken part of my wager is that I want it to sell over 8m.
Calls out this mediocre generation pointing it’s best game and is willing to make a sacrifice nobody here is in order to jinx the Pro to succeed: a true fan. I salute you! o7
I’m still not sending you my juice.
