Marvel Rivals |OT| 33 Heroes - Perfectly Balanced, as all things should be.

during the beta I only enjoyed this in small bursts, but I think that's because I hadn't found a hero that I really liked playing.
doreen is fucking great though, decently strong too, will def be maining her

BTW nicknames are unique. So you can’t use the same name on two platforms. Bullshit right there.
This. I use squallheart for everything so I'm surprised it didn't just use your psn name so had to add a . Also your stats don't transfer between platforms so my account and ps5 account will have different paths. I stopped overwatch when part 2 released so this will fill the void for now.

So my friends: controller of K+M for this one?

It clearly gives me more of controller vibes, specially after watching spider-man gameplay.

Designed around controller and PS5 specifically.

Game has an awesome model and the menus etc are very well done but the gameplay is so simple and random. Barely any indication your hitting anyone.

No cross play may be enough for me to kill it off but the graphics and menus are nice lol.

Game has crossplay from what I read, only on casual mode though.

Competitive modes are locked between devices.

For starters I think I'll binge this on PC. Better performance there than on base PS5.

Played about two hours last night. It feels like Overwatch, but made by someone who just watched videos of Overwatch (here I mean, 'the classic Overwatch I really liked, the first two years or so', not whatever it is now) but didn't play it. The clashes and the character movement all feel a lot more random than Overwatch ever did, and the characters seem to be mostly 'slightly different ways to throw damage at each other,' where in OG Overwatch the differences between characters felt more fundamental and carefully thought out. The shooting and character movements all feel a lot more ... flimsy, or thin, (for lack of a better word) than Overwatch.

Now having said that, I did enjoy it quite a bit for what it is, and I can see myself putting a lot of hours into this as a "listen to podcasts while looking at characters I like" thing.

Played for a bit. Don't think I'm gonna get into it. Most of the characters I played didn't have a style that appealed to me, yet I can comfortably play and have fun with most heroes in Overwatch.

So many comparisons to Overwatch but this game lacks everything that makes that game special. I don't see any reason to play this over that if I'm going to play a hero shooter.
The fact marvel heroes alone are more recognisable and usually cooler is enough reason.

So far I'm enjoying it. I haven't tried many characters. Star Lord seems pretty good. He's in my face all the time, annoying fly.

Most of the designs are great. Unlike the crap life like stuff they do with Sony Spider-Man and Avengers. Luna, Elsa, Storm are all hot. The dude's look cool. If this was a US studio we'd have butch women, ugly men. So it seems Netease and whoever made Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 have eyes for what is appealing!

Gonna play it all weekend i reckon until I get salty.

I hadn't really thought about it, but I agree about the character designs. It's nice to see some "buff dudes, hot ladies" again.

It does feel a little bit like a mobile game. Also the graphics could be a bit better. It has this film grainy thing going on that I wish I could turn off.

Not sure what to think of it yet. It's kinda fun and a clear OW rip-off, but it's also missing some kind of oomph to the combat and the battles feel like they kinda clutter the screen.

And what's the point of HFR Mode (120hz)? It doesn't really feel any different of Pro Mode (60fps).

This damn game is fun af. Looks nice too. Slow though. I feel like i can move my character and go get coffee before it gets to the defend point.

Who are everyone's top 3 heroes so far?

Want to decide which one I should start with.
Last night I tried Magneto, Punisher, Winter Soldier, and Jeff the Shark. Of those, Punisher was the simplest (point guns at enemies) if you want something you can play without thinking while you get a handle on the maps and whatnot. Magneto is like 3 different OW characters--the big shield of Reinhardt, the bubble shield of Zarya, and the little daggers of Zenyatta--but with gimped versions of the OV shields. His big shield just lasts a few seconds rather than take damage and recharge like Reinhardt's, and he doesn't get the damage boost when his bubble shields get shot like Zarya. Jeff was kind of fun (he shoots water at everyone, which heals friends and hurts foes) but healing was kind of frustrating because everyone's running around doing their own thing. I only played WS for a round or two and didn't really 'get' him. That might have been my fault though.

Thanks. That is very helpful!

I had a blast playing it last night. I almost couldn't stop playing it. OW2 has become so stale and this game is a breath of fresh air. I've been playing Cloak and Dagger a lot. It's a dual hero character that you can switch between freely. Their ultimate kind of sucks though. Sometimes it's just better to play Luna Snow.

They did an awesome job of picking heroes for this games. There are the very popular ones, and there is a good selection of the lesser known ones. Which I find pretty cool.

It's fun! Not as good as Overwatch right now, could be as they iterate in the future.

Everything hinges on how NE monetize the game, and I have little confidence in that area.

Been trying out a few heroes, and there's actually quite a few of them that I like.

Colour me surprise with this.

Starlord, Moon Knight and Iron Fist are my favourites so far.

I played about 4 hours so far.
I found it quite mediocre at first, slightly better now that I found some heroes I liked a bit more, but I find the game a bit too... I don't know, slow?
I was interested in playing as Magik but she's absolutely terrible, unless I missed something with her somehow. Her attacks are extremely slow and she doesn't have anything really special or useful.
Iron Fist is the one I found the most "fun" so far.

It clearly gives me more of controller vibes
I'm curious, what gives you this vibe? Since it's something with aiming, I really wouldn't imagine playing this with a controller if you have the choice between controller or mouse. Games with a focus on aiming / camera movements almost always feel better and faster with a mouse.
I tried a few rounds, i kinda like it but i hate the 10 second respawn timer.
As someone who almost only play Dota 2 as a mutliplayer competitive game, I find 10 seconds extremely short lol I'm used to +60 seconds respawn time.
I do find the travel back to the fight a bit annoying sometimes though.

Battlepass progression is godawful. You not only need the currency to actually redeem anything in the pass but said currency can only be grinded through dailies and weaklies. Completing a match with no challenges nets you nothing but memories.

Agreed. I do wonder if it's not as fun as OW to me because I know OW better and know the characters I like to play though. So I might end up liking this more if I get to know the characters I like and all that. I just know OW so well it's hard to top it out the gate.

No loot boxes, is that right?
But I guess you have $20+ costumes to buy outright instead. Damn, the some of the costumes and the cutscenes are really well designed.

Man this game is so much fun. We've been getting on with about 4/5 of us and the synergies you can create are kind of crazy.

Really enjoyable hero shooter that's already incredibly polished. Nice to see a big budget title not buckle under server pressure or other technical nonsense.

Played it after work for about 4 hours. It's okay. I never played Overwatch, but it's honestly already getting boring.

Biggest complaint is the menu though. Terrible.

We’re in the honeymoon stage where everything feels new and it’s easy to overlook the game’s problems. I’ll give it another two weeks before people start finding out what’s broken and people stop playing out of frustration. Healing definitely needs to be toned down a bit. A lot of the movement abilities also feel wonky. The map design also feels uninspired and samey. We’ll see how nimble the devs are to react.
