The 3DS will definitely sell over 150k. PS3 slim at 300$ sold 150k and we know that Japan is handheld oriented.
PS3 had games. Not to mention the fact that it didn't have to worry about a tough competitor with hardware that trumps it in almost every possibly way coming a few months later.Beam said:The 3DS will definitely sell over 150k. PS3 slim at 300$ sold 150k and we know that Japan is handheld oriented.
We are talking about this week not a few months from now. The PSP is the 3DS`s competition not the Vita. Also as you said games sell consoles, it will be no different fot the Vita. I wonder which will be more appealing the 3DS at 15000 yen with a catalog of games or the Vita at 25000 yen which will be lacking those games. That is unless you think the Vita will magically sell when it goes into it`s dryspell.BurntPork said:PS3 had games. I think you're underestimating the power of hype. 3DS will sell 80-100k that week, most likely.Truth101 said:We are talking about this week not a few months from now. Surely people won't just pick up a 3DS and nothing with it.
I don`t recall mentioning sales, or even what I think the 3DS might sell. So, I do think you quoted the wrong person.BurntPork said:I think you're underestimating the power of hype. 3DS will sell 80-100k that week, most likely.

Nice stuff. I'm looking forward to seeing your graphs more often again.JoshuaJSlone said:![]()
This next one was just a testing whim that actually ended up pretty interesting. Thanks to Wii Sports and Wii Play being so big, Wii's first month of software puts up a mighty fight against everything released in the following twelve months.

Could this be a delay to coincide with the day of the price cut, like Pokemon?

If Sony wants any movement on that front they need $199. $249 will hardly make a difference.Mpl90 said:PS3 pricecut to 249 Euro / Dollars / 25000 Yen, possibly.
Or they could do $249 with GT5 bundled in or something[Nintex] said:If Sony wants any movement on that front they need $199. $249 will hardly make a difference.
Oh, like that. I think maybe a pricedrop is announced at Gamescom instead, but Tokyo Game Show might be possible too.Mpl90 said:PS3 pricecut to 249 Euro / Dollars / 25000 Yen, possibly.

But $249 is the usual holiday giftcard/free game/retailer discount deal. That's not going to move anything.PSFan said:Or they could do $249 with GT5 bundled in or something
150k is an insane baseline. There's no way it'll sell that much with its current software line-up. It could be cut to 10k yen and it would still struggle to sell that much. I also doubt that Pokemon will sell even half that much, since it's just a low-budget spin-off.Sennorin said:[3DS] Hardware (Nintendo) - 150.000
[3DS] Pokemon Rumble Blast (Pokemon Co.) - 75.000
[PSP] Monster Hunter Diary: Pokapoka Felyne G (Capcom) - 70.000
That´s my minimum expectation for 3DS, though.
Judging predictions of others without having posted yours doesn't say much. You'll eat crow for Pokemon.BurntPork said:150k is an insane baseline. A month and a half of sales in one week due to a 40% price drop on a system with no games? Not a snowball's chance in hell. I'm thinking 100k, give or take, with it leveling off at 40-45k per week after that. Nintendo has just screwed up too much for a price drop to fix everything on it's own. It'll get out of bomb status, but that's it.slaughterking said:Your pre-emptive damage control is getting out of hand. 150k seems pretty reasonable.

Come at me, BurntPork.
There's no doubt that the pricedrop will bump sales to a high level, the question is if the effect lasts untll Mario and Mario Kart are released and if those two titles are enough to carry the system well into 2012. Also you're looking at the European/US offerings for the 3DS, note that in Japan Star Fox, Tales of the Abyss, Layton and a couple of other games are already released.BurntPork said:A month and a half of sales in one week due to a 40% price drop on a system with no games? True, but i think he mean that since people buy it used, this will affect the new unit sales. This will be the case, but the question is how much it will affect the new unit sales. People could get a 3DS for aroun 15k yen like 2 weeks before the official pricedrop.Truth101 said:That's because the price of used unites dropped after the price drop announcement.
