Japan never ceases to amaze me in there taste in gaming.
You should fly there and start an education program as to why they're wrong. Running speed is a good starting point

Same here, no room for extras like Madden, FIFA, NBA, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed and Just Dance. (did I just leak Dec NPD?)Japan never ceases to amaze me in there taste in gaming.
I wonder if Wii U will have a similar trajectory like year 2014 in 2016.
The new JoJo game is also a different type of game than the first, isnt it? First was a fighting game more like Street Fighter, while the other is more like a brawler or something. Could perhaps have some affect on the sales too, but a really big difference in sales regardless. And the new game isn't particularly good as well.

I wish TFH was doing better :/

At least we europeans are in the world to save videogames bad tastes.
It'll be better, but the big elephant in the room is obviously when the NX releases and how it compares to the PS4 in terms of power, features, price, and games lineup.
If I remember correctly, they shut down production after ~10 million units produced, so the stuff in stores now would have to be new units from a new production run.
2 million PS4s, but what are they all playing?? It's selling pretty fast but its games don't sell as much as WiiU games.
Style Savvy 3 is a flop.
I wonder what went wrong with that one.
Not if you live in the UK.
Where are Media Create numbers?

it seems in line or even slightly better than previous Zelda multiplayer games, so far. I think. In Japan.

Didn't help last year with smash, toad, and the legs of kart...
Nintendo said the release of New 3DS overshadowed Wii U.That Nintendo holiday magic surely didn't work last year.
I mean Sony's pretty great at selling PS4 in one respect when it comes to Japan at least.i mean there must be some reason almost every publisher is behind ps4 and first month npd sales cant be the reason since certain people point that out every single time like it is gospel![]()
What Iwata said about "All it takes is one special game to sell a console" (paraphrasing) is starting to show true here. A lot of people dismissed that quote as ridiculous or an oversimplification, but I think he was right. The Wii U never had it's big killer app that it needed to really take off. Now we have Splatoon, a hyper-success as far as new IPs for dead consoles go, but it's far too late.
I bring this up now because if Splatoon had been in the launch window for Wii U, I'm convinced it could've completely altered the trajectory of the console. A more successful launch would've seen more initial investment, probably would have kept Rayman Legends exclusive, for instance, and thus ensure another cycle of greatness for the Nintendo. It still wouldn't have been more successful than the Wii, I don't think anything could have made that happen, but it could have done N64 numbers maybe?
Moral of the story: Nintendo must get the NX launch just right. It absolutely needs a "Holy shit WOW!" game near launch, because unlike Xbox and Sony, there isn't enough "good faith" there for third parties to invest up front without knowing how big the install base might be. So they need to have a heavy hitter at launch to get as many early adopters as possible to get third parties to at the very least provide ports, to keep those numbers up to get a respectable consumer base again.
Spla2oon at launch isn't the answer. It's too soon if NX launches in 2016. They need another new IP with big market appeal, which is obviously a tall order, but they did it with Splatoon, they can do it again.[
So, no: no single unique game can make a console a success.

If a PS4 slim gets released next year I can see a really good year for the console in Japan. At least it's YTD will be higher than 1.2M this year.
I believe the last update about MK8 numbers in Japan was 1.126 million in Week 37, 2015. Splatoon has already overtaken this physical + digital, not sure if there is any other Wii U that has sold more in Japan. Splatoon is guaranteed to be the biggest game on the Wii U in Japan, question is whether it will end up the biggest console game this gen - which looks likely.
When people say that it's "saving the Wii u" they mean that 2015's sales should be awful but it's currently outperforming 2014 where the two biggest titles scheduled to release on the Wii U launched (MK8 and SSB4).you know everbody thought samething about new super mario wiiu, they thought having it at launch would keep the wiiu selling great for a good year, i mean it's predecessor sold about 28 million.
as successful as splatoon is, it's not really saving the wiiu, giving the wiiu about 200k more sales this year, then last year in japan is amazing, but the wiiu is still selling like crap world wide and will not make the wiiu relevant in the console market.
It's not realistic to hope or expect NX to launch with the next "Splatoon". Also keep in mind that the same team that made Splatoon also made Nintendoland, which was the big new IP they were betting on at launch to sell the system. What Iwata said about "All it takes is one special game to sell a console" (paraphrasing) is starting to show true here. So you mean just like the Wii?You know what I honestly wonder?
If Nintendo could survive without much third party support and better pricing from the outset (as opposed to forced price drops), but also with more fresh and phenomenal games like Splatoon and Mario Maker.
I mean, Splatoon alone is saving the Wii U, and SMM is giving a boost. The high quality and post-release content of Mario Kart 8 was also a plus.
Perhaps if Nintendo re-allocated their resources away from throwaway titles like Mario Tennis, AC Amiibo Festival, and Mario Party 10 and toward more original and exciting ideas and games, they could do better mostly on their own.

There are 2 weeks left, PS4 2015 YTD will be over 1.35 million ( but under 1.40 million).
Yeah, I was just playing safe =p But 1.35M is definitely a possibility. What's the week the Sony hardware gets a bump?

Woah Wii U. I thought it wasn't hitting those numbers again without a price. Splatoon and SMM still have near perfect synergy. How do they go so well together? Nice debut for Monster Strike. How does it comare to Puzzle & Dragons Z?
01./00. [3DS] Monster Strike <RPG> (Mixi) {2015.12.17} (¥4.860) - 425.268 / NEW <40-60%>
01./00. [3DS] PazuDora Z: Puzzle & Dragons Z <RPG> (GungHo Online Entertainment) {2013.12.12} (¥4.400) - 534.782 / NEW <60-80%>
PS4 sales should increase for the next 2 weeks.
New years week I think.
Predicting at least 2mil PS4s sold next year.
Thanks for the info!
I'm going for 1.8M-1.9M. That was the PS3's best year iirc.
Not a chancePredicting at least 2mil PS4s sold next year.
Depends massively on DQXI PS4 hitting in December.
A slim, price cut and bundles are expected for that and FFXV.
They needed an excuse to show at the investors meeting
No Media Create numbers this week?
